Profootballtalk says that he was the Raider's Top Corner last year.

Seems like a lot.

Yeah I wrote somewhere in here that I figured he could be one of our signings...he was never nothing special, then played better than anyone on their roster (Sean Smith and Emerson were then cut) I know the raiders wanted to keep him, but salary wise they couldn't

Man we have alot of depth at CB...but no bonafide #1

So where does he fit in here? I was hoping we could move BBC back to the slot, but if this guy is better there, then...?

Jason McCourty, Jamaar Taylor, Brien Body-Calhoun, Howard Wilson (and some other guys like Michael Jordan) before FA. Now Carrie & Mitchell


Some folks are gonna get cut

Either we are trading one of our linebackers or we are cutting a couple secondary players. I don't see how all these guys get on the field.

I imagine we'll be cutting some secondary players.

Our LB corp last year was one of the bright spots. Why would we want to break up Collins, Kirko, & Schobert

lots of bodies back there, none very good

Taylor could leave and I wouldn't even know..

Be interesting to see what is going to happen ... but the other way to improve your secondary play is to get pressure on the QB.

If we had a stud DE opposite Garret - taking nothing away from Ogbah who I love - and a better DI penetration? Peppers closer to the line and blitzing? . . . perhaps Chubb is in play? With consistent pressure our secondary would be more than adequate as is.

Taylor does a good job covering the slot. He did that well two years ago

Looks like a depth signing.

Because teams probably shouldn't be playing three linebackers at the same time basically ever.

McCourty was pretty good last year. I am assuming Jamar Taylor is a goner. Other than that, who we cut?

Ugh, you and your three LB thing. I want the best players on the field. That's what I want.


Trading away one of those guys will get nowhere near the value they're worth. I don't see the point.

For those of you who put a lot of stock in PFF grades..

Pro Football Focus gave Carrie an 84.3 overall grade and ranked him as the 21st overall cornerback in the NFL in 2017.

There was a reason why we couldn't stop running backs and tight ends in the passing game last year. . .

We were literally the only team that played in a "base" defense that much last year.

We played three linebackers nearly all the time. Ask yourself, when a team has three wide receivers, one tight end, and one running back on the field who is covering those players?

So which LB are you looking to trade? Cause I like all three of them.

I've been asking this question the entire off-season. My guess is that Joe Schobert has the most value to other teams because of his contract. With that said, I'd probably trade Jamie Collins. His contract is easier to trade than Christian Kirksey.

I don't know much about TJ Carrie as player.

PFF grades him well and i like/trust them most part. But...CB play imho is their weakness...especially cover 3 zone CBs.
I think the scheme artificially allows them to grade well. (just look at McCourty and Taylor)

Has anyone watched him/researched him?
Can he play man? Press? Make plays in zone?

Trade Jamie Collins? Jesus..........

I'd rather keep the three and let guys like Burgess, etc. go


I mean, I see your point. Three WRs and an athletic TE and a RB. We're going to need 5 guys in the secondary. But I'd rather just cut down on their playing time or something. I don't know what, but something.


Cause, we lost Collins last year and the defense really went down hill. I still wish someone would have sucker punched that Lions Guard that rolled up on his ankle like that. I mean, that was a cheap shot. Maybe have Caleb Brantley roll up on Matthew Stafford's Ankle. There ya go.

See, Dorsey was with this team for the end of last year. He must have watched all our tape from the year before probably too.


I hope to think that he recognizes that Boddy-Calhoun is worth something. It's not like it's a new coaching staff either. Gregg Williams knows the guy

Any CB who tackles is an upgrade over last season's corner. One comes to mind especially.

I am curious about Wilson. He was a very good college player.
