I love joe, always will. But honestly we really needed 1 more year out him. Its sad, we are finally starting to look like we are taking to a turn to get better, and now we have a GAPPING hole at LT. the second most important position on the offense.
Let me sorrow, typical browns fan luck. This is why I'll never understand why we didn't trade him a couple years ago when we cleaned house. We knew it would be 2+ years before we even thought about being competitive, and by then he'd be ready to retire. Now here we are...

I am in mourning. I hoped we could have one more, a final season like a victory lap together.
Not to be. All the respect in the world to this man, THE technician that defines LT. Pro Bowl, class, loyal beyond what reason would expect, a player fine for the game and fine for the Land and its fans. Outstanding durability to boot. Enjoy it, Joe. More than earned it. Thanks for more memories than I can hold in my head at once. We need heroes such as this.
Take tomorrow off.

j/c: Football aside, I hope Joe and his wife decide to stay in Cleveland. I feel like they are both from WI, so you never know. But, over time, maybe his young family has found out that Cleveland has become their new home. And, although, he has left the Browns, he'll never leave Cleveland.
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

Joe Thomas:
I love you.
You're a great human/person.
You're one of the best athletes Cleveland Browns will EVER had play for them.
You were what I called "elite" in terms of LT. Perennial pro bowl, All American, consecutive snaps... just everything.
I love ya man, wish you nothing but the best to your future. Love your family and wife and hopefully this decision enables your future to be even brighter with them. We'll still see you a lot around Cleveland (media and etc) I bet, but hey man... go catch some perch from Lake Erie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the podcast, Joe Thomas said that he let the team know a while ago, but they held off on announcing it so it didn't affect the free agent market. I'm glad you posted this. On an earlier thread, I said that I couldn't believe the Browns wouldn't be all in on Nate Solder if they knew Joe wasn't coming back, so I guessed he hadn't told them yet, and if so, that would be a disappointment to me. That was a mistake on my part. Should have known Joe wouldn't hose the Browns like that. If anyone dropped the ball, it was the Browns, not Joe Thomas. All the best, Joe.

Being on all those meds, including Vicodin, AND still having substantial pain? Not being able to stand for one minute without excruciating pain? Gz and he played through all this? Even limiting him in practice, it was just damaging him. Man, this is the best decision for him. Body told you to quit, and you listened and rightfully so.

Listen to his podcast. He basically he wanted come back but his body wouldn’t allow him to. yeah, he physically couldn't ... sad to hear
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

What is that you are posting???? an ad? I have no clue...lol
Joe Thomas, All the best and thank you for your contributions. It a shame that our timing Sucks as we finally got a worthy QB TT to block for and a true (not #22) draft Franchise QB.
Hope you stay on in a coaching capacity especially if we get a project LT for you to mold!

Joe..thank you for the years of sacrifice.
You're a class act and the best LT I've seen play the position.
Good luck!

I remember the year before Joe got drafted, everyone on this board wanted Robert Gallery desperately. We didn't get him, and he ended up getting moved to guard his rookie year because he couldn't keep up.
The following year, "look what happened with Gallery" became the refrain. Lot of people wanted Quinn.
Joe is the second guy the Browns ever took that I wanted. The other was Braylon.
Hell of a run, Joe.

I wished it showed one with him in his stance/set before snap. It was such a strange looking stance but the way he was able to break out of it and etc was amazing.
