I look at it this way, I don't want Hue canned in October. That means we are in a total mess. If it happens, it could happen after the season. We might have won 7 games and Dorsey feels we should have won 9.

I don't want Hue fired at all, but he isn't very good as a head coach, so it's probably going to happen. He can win 10 games next year and he is still a 11-37 HC for the Browns.

To be fair, if we win 10 games, he deserves to stick. I think the number is 9 wins. He sticks with that. Winning 8 might not save him. It's kind of like a grade point average. You can't carry a 1.8 heading in to your Senior year, then buckle down and get a 3.0 as a Senior and expect to be considered a B student.

An 8-8 season, while not a winning record, is not a losing record and would be a massive improvement over the past 10 years of losing records. Massive improvement, I say.

Yes I think Hue is the Author of this masterpiece that was the 17-18 Brownns season, and yes I think he should have been out at the end of last season and or before.

But they didn't and it's a whole new year, and there's a whole new team "again", <-------- superconfused

But at this time I don't think this is a subject that deserves discussion.

And I don't think Fans can have the knowledge, inside info, or ability of being able to "mind read" what Jimmy Haslem is thinking.

Because pretty much, it's up to him. Like it or not.

(Winning in April! Woo hoo!)

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

It would be a great improvement, but if some think we can win the division, as I do, that might not be good enough.

We should have won 4-5 games last year...even drop it to 3-4.

Face it, it's not all that hard to improve over a season where you won ZERO games. You are darn right he should see a massive improvement, and 8 might not be massive enough.

thumbsup Has to be nothing but upside!

Not sure what is good enough, or what is necessary, but we ought to win some. Dorsey is not done yet, I suspect.

Neither do I. I said 8-9 games would probably be good enough. I would think so....but maybe not, i don't know what conditions might make it not.

To be fair to Hue and the staff, maybe 5 is good enough. You just have to wait and see how it plays out.

I am fairly sure that under 5 wins won't cut it. 5-6 is probably on the bubble, 7+ is probably safe.

I know its your thread so the SMH thumbsdown is there and I guess you are insulted by it.

But if this isn't a fire Hue thread what the heck is it?

So he is fired in October...which means we are like 1-5 or something.

He would be the scapegoat if that is the case. Cause we got Williams, Haley running the O n D.

But if we suck AGAIN if I'm Haslam I'm looking to fire the entire thing again and blow it up. Which we don't want.

Hue is not this crappy HC many view him.

For me to talk about what do we do when he's fired in October...lol laugh I can only think of this as a lets fire Hue thread. Sorry don't mean to be a jerk. But I still SMH and well maybe I should add tongue lol laugh

But I promise I won't come back to the thread I let you give it some life if you wish...sorry I just didn't get it but I won't sabotage your thread any further.

When you build a team, you have to be able to project more than a year in advance. Dorsey's #1 job is to find a quarterback. Ok, fine. But the head coach is pretty darn important too, and the reality is Hue underperformed with an already bad roster and he's sitting at 1-31.

He's getting a third crack at this, with an improved roster. We'll see if he can get it done. If he can't, we're going to have to find someone who can. Obviously I'd rather the team win and make this whole idea moot, but I don't see the harm in talking about it? If Hue has to be fired, I'd prefer it happen after the season but if it happens during the season, Haley will probably take over. Hard to see an owner giving Williams a head coaching gig (even on an interim basis) after what happened in New Orleans with Bountygate.

Pit summed up the rest of my thoughts pretty well in his first post in the the thread. thumbsup

That works. I personally hope Hue gets the full season even if things are going poorly on the field. Let him coach it out, you can't really fix things with a coaching change during the season anyway, just see what happens.

If it has to be done then so be it. Giving the coach 3 full seasons along with the plethora of young talent that will be on the roster would go a long way in making the Browns head coaching job a lot more attractive than it has been in the past.

I'm sorry, but as a life-long Browns fan, and considering what we've all been through the last 23 years, it's my belief that the Haslams (and the NFL) are hoping to move this team out of Cleveland.

But the NFL learned that Cleveland fans are rabid about their football.

So their problem is - how to separate fans from their beloved team?

Field a team that not only loses, but loses in historical fashion.

And the Cleveland Browns are currently the worst team in U.S. professional sports.

Arguably of all-time.

A key part of this strategy is to keep Hue Jackson as the head coach.

He should already be gone.

He's clearly the least effective coach in the NFL. If he was a good coach as several posters above have stated, the Browns would have won more than one game in two years.

Don't like it? I'm sure. Me neither.

Hey, ironically, the second worse team in the history of U.S. professional sports was probably the St. Louis Browns.

I am rooting for Hue Jackson. I do not think he has had a chance. He inherited a 3-13 football team. Then the FO gutted that team of veterans and we all knew that 2016 was going to be a really bad year. 1-15 was the result and it was expected.

Then last year in free agency the Oline was rebuilt with some large free agent signings for JC Tretter and Kevin Zietler. Then gave big money to Joel Bitonio. Drafted 3 1st round draft picks Myles Garrett, Jabrill Peppers, and David Njoku. We thought the worst was over but there were some real head scratching moves that offset the good. Not re-signing Terrelle Pryor (1,000 yard receiver), cutting Joe Haden, and Gary Barnidge.

Think about that! Turned the offense over to a new rookie QB and got rid of the teams top 2 receivers Pryor and Barnidge. WOW!

After that injuries killed all chances at a better season. Corey Coleman leaving the team most of the year with no real talent at receiver. Joe Thomas (enough said there), Jamie Collins, Emmanuel Ogbah, among others. 0-16 is the result.

I want to see Hue succeed. First with Taylor to show the new GM he is the right man for the job. Then with the rookie QB Rosen or Darnold starting some long term success.

Wasn't Barnidge cut the year before last?

Anyways, is this thread really still a thing? I'm definitely not Hue's #1 fan, but the guy is here and we could do waaaay worse than him (and have, repeatedly).

Hue is not getting fired next season.

I think it is fair to say he hasn't had a real chance at coaching a more complete roster. I think it's also fair to say he's done some pretty questionable things on and off the field too.

8-9 wins?

Just saying....I don't think expecting to play .500 ball or a game above is unreasonable. How is it unreasonable that my not liking a coach who can't win a game in 2 years is unreasonable?

It's short-sighted to hate Hue Jackson.

Hey, if Haslam asked me to coach the Browns for $1,000,000, I'd do it.

I bet I could be at least as successful a coach as Hue.

Just by letting my assistant coaches run things.

Doing that, I would have probably posted a better record. Couldn't be worse.

My money would be on Haley taking over, as opposed to GW. If the situation were to present itself, which was the point of this thread from the start.
