I like Darnold also. I think Rosen is a good QB too but As I've said in the past I have a problem with the 2 concussions. He has started early with them and if he got them in college there's a good chance it will happen in the pro's with bigger faster and stronger players. JMO
I have agreed with you on Darnold vs tOSU and have said it multiple times in the past. People criticize Darnold for this game but I think this game was a major + for him.
My issue with Darnold is that he under throws his receivers, a lot. He even had a bunch of under throws in his pro day workout.
Dorsey et al, clearly know more than I do about this. So if they choose Darnold or Mayfield, or Rosen I'll be happy and role with it. IF they pick Allen, I will shake my head and role with it. If they go Barkley and Chubb then trade up back into the 1st for Lamar or Mason, I'll role with as long as they don't trade up to #22 to take a Qb. That's just bad juju.
The difference between Jesus and religion Religion mocks you for having dirty feet Jesus gets down on his knees and washes them
Whether we take a QB at 1 or at 4 we will still end up with a franchise caliber QB.

"I'd rather be a lower pick at the right team than a higher one at the wrong team..." - Rosen
My interpretation of that is that we (the Browns) are the wrong team since we are, in fact, the highest team in the draft.
From Darnold:
Quote:
“It’d be awesome to go No. 1, just because I think what the Browns are doing is really good right now and I think they have potential to be a really good team in the future,” Darnold told ESPN after concluding his Pro Day. “Just based on that, yeah, a part of me really wants to go 1.“
But at the same time, if they don’t want me and they don’t pick me, that’s the best situation because I don’t want to go to a team that doesn’t want me.”
I don't see all that much difference....... Nowhere does Rosen out and out mention the Browns. Is he assuming he's just the number 1 pick?
If you can’t read between the lines then you are clueless.
Nothing would or should show up in the media. You saw the hot mess that the prior statement created. No matter the circumstance you have to respect the process.
People still hate Eli for the draft day fiasco. No one with 2 brain cells would repeat that.
Welcome back, Joe, we missed you!…. That did not age well.
One is saying if you don't want me, I don't want you.
The other one is saying I don't want you even if you want me.
Eh, see it how you want. I think he cleared everything up at the combine.
And FYI, I guess I'd be partial to Rosen, but for me, I have faith in the decision that Dorsey and Company Makes, and if it's Darnold or Mayfield, I don't think I'll have any problem accepting that at all.
Josh Allen, might be a little harder for me
I just don't care for the misinformation that seems to be said about Rosen.
I've stated that I don't think we'll draft him based on Hue's comments about Tyrod being the starter in 2018. But I think Josh has been misinterpreted with this whole doesn't wanna play for the Browns thing
[quote=PeteyDangerous]Well you don’t live in Southern California either.
The Giants fanbase is as loyal as they come (maybe not as loyal as us, but loyal) and they have a ton of fans. New York City, New Jersey, Connecticut, Long Island, Upstate New York.
From my understanding, the Chargers fanbase isn't the same way (although, you'd know better than me)
So, I don't think Eli is regretting his decision one bit. All-In-All it worked out for everyone. But Eli's done very well in New York. He's won superbowls. Made a lot of money. And he's been the face of the Giants for a long time
I think the Chargers were 2-14 the year before they had the #1 pick and went with Eli.
I live in San Diego and there are some loyal fans but the majority of the city was too distracted to pay attention to the team.
The owners were terrible and the city wouldn't support a new stadium. Qualcomm stadium in San Diego is a dump.
I love Rosen's skill-set and potential but I just don't believe he wants to be here. I also believe that Dorsey knows this too. That's why I don't really think Dorsey is even considering Rosen at #1.
Show me 1 mock on ESPN.com, CBS.com or NFL.com that has Rosen going #1 overall or even #4 to the Browns.
What did Rosen say when given the opportunity to address the topic?
I believe he backtracked but that's just a calculated PR move in my opinion.
I find this article extremely interesting on Darnold. Looks like Jordan Palmer wants him to go to Cleveland.
Jordan Palmer called the Browns hiring Ken Zampese as their quarterbacks coach "an amazing blessing." Zampese taught Jordan and Carson Palmer a lot during his time with the Bengals. "I hope Sam (Darnold) gets to go there," Palmer said. ... "If Sam were to play there, sky is the limit."

Resulting to namecalling and insulting others who do not agree w/your take does not make you correct.
Rosen is on record as saying he never said he wouldn't play for the Browns. He wants to be the number one pick, but you are making an inference from a previous comment and ignoring what he actually said when he was asked to clarify his earlier comment.
People believe what they want to believe. That's fine. But, we aren't "clueless" because we accepted his clarification on the subject. And some of us have more than two brain cells to recognize that we went through a similar discussion last year w/Myles Garrett.
Man, that ended up horribly. He held out well into the season and didn't play hard when he was on the field. He also faked injuries and refused to play through them........all because he wanted to play for Dallas and not in Cleveland.

I can see this. I occasionally go to SD for work, to see a client. My first time was during the Joey Bosa holdout, towards the end when he was the only draft pick in the league not signed yet and it was getting ugly in the press. I was talking to a guy who said he was a "huge" Chargers fan. I asked him what he thought of the Joey Bosa thing and he said he never heard of the guy. I explained who Bosa was and this guy said he doesn't worry about the 1st round picks because the owner always sells them after a year.
"Here is the USC vs UCLA game this year. Despite playing w/an inferior team, Josh Rosen was clearly the better qb. Watch for yourself and also please not Herbrsteit's comments on the two guys throughout the game. "
I thought you were telling us to watch for ourselves and NOT pay attention to Herbstreit?
We disagree on the time each QB had. I think Darnold was constantly under pressure because his OL sucks, much as it was in the Ohio State game. I think Rosen had a lot more time to throw and looked more poised in the pocket because of this. He took some hits, but not as many. That's not a knock on the guy, I just think it is a partial explanation why Rosen looked to be a better QB that day. Could be that he is the better QB, but it's not an accurate test in my eyes.
Wouldn't it be great if we could get a trial run at both guys? Call in the offense and defense and line everyone up for some 11 on 11's and see who does best behind our offensive line.

Wonder how much he will work with the ones, we named TT the starter. The norm is #2 gets 20% of the reps with the ones. Curious what we will do.
Also preseason the #1 QB gets just a couple of series...then #2 gets the biggest chunk. So Darnold will be playing a lot of the preseason. Would like to see a lot of our #1 WRs out there and starting OL.
jmho
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!
why is everyone assuming darnold is the guy, when every QB hasn't even had the pro days yet?
on top of that, they also met with Rosen, as well. why no hype?
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
If I was making the call, he would be #3, at least through the first 3-4-5 games of the season. Might not even activate him for a few games.
I thought the object was to season him a while. If he is #2 and TT gets dinged, he goes in. I'd keep Hogan at #2 for a while.
Oof. There's gotta be someone else we can get as a backup for a year. I really don't want Hogan. Don't really want Kessler either, although he sounds like he's buddies with Darnold at least.
But I'd like sitting for a year to be sitting for a year. ALA Carson Palmer and Aaron Rodgers (not multiple years like Rodgers though)
Agreed. I'm sure there is someone else out there that we can get as a #2. I also agree that whomever we draft at QB let's do something different and let him sit for a season or even more if necessary. What was done to DK was a travesty and I don't want to see it repeated. If we are at the end of a blowout game and we want to put the rookie in for a series or 2 fine but don't start him. We have a vet QB in TT and some really good coaches that can teach him and bring him along slowly. Let's do it right this time.

Agreed. Unless our QB is Baker Mayfield or Josh Rosen.
Those two are ready to roll IMO. Mayfield isn't backup to anyone. Not his MO, lol
and I maintain, that Tyrod Taylor wouldn't beat out Josh Rosen in camp. Rosen is already a more polished passer, and with a full camp, will give us a better chance to win than Taylor
If we draft Mayfield or Rosen that's a good point and you could be right. However, I don't think we signed TT to be a back-up. That will be up to the coaches. Long way to go before the season starts.

Yup. That's why I think we're pretty locked in on Darnold. Hue's press conference stating that Tyrod would be the 2018 starter. Made me say, "Hmm. I think we're going Darnold or Allen." Maybe I was reading into a press conference too closely, but if Tyrod is going to be the 2018 starter. No competition. Sounds like Darnold or Allen
