A funny thing happened as I went to the forum.
Happened to listen to a podcast with Mary K and Jordan Palmer.
They talked about Allen and Darnold. Also, what Palmer had to say about the Browns was something to hear.
He actually said all the young players want to go to Cleveland!! That's right that is what I said.
He said the Buzz around the Browns and what they are doing is real. The AFC North is going down. Palmer said he has never heard so many positive things said about a GM like he has heard about Dorsey.
He said Hue has coached very position and knows a ton of football. He gets people fired up. Players love playing for him.
That's right he was talking about Hue Jackson.
He said with the number one pick; there is no bad choice. He believes Darnold and Allen are franchise guys and both are going to be really good.
He said with the free agency moves, cap space, and draft position the Browns are in a good place.
That's right The Cleveland Browns are in a good place.
Whoa boy. I seem to remember we lost 16 games.
Well that was last year.
Things are looking up this year. Well I guess from 0-16 everything is up.
Is this real? Have the Browns turned this thing around???

I don't know. We do have a legit QB so that is a start. I'm pretty happy overall with what Dorsey has done this offseason, but I'm not going to get too excited until I start to see some wins.

If we just pick the correct QB here, I think we'll trend upwards quickly. This is huge
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

This is going to be a different cleveland brown team ... WAY DIFFERENT ... We have some talent and some really good coaches ... this is gonna be FUN ... Hue went from being dealt one of the worst hands ever to being in a GREAT POSITION OVER NIGHT ... We got a shot to be pretty good next year ... with the best to come the year after ... Were gonna have a ton of talent and a ton of cap space ... were gonna be a HOT HOT SPOT to go ...

I can't say they've turned it around. What I can say is the early returns are good. Dorsey certainly has us turned in the right direction.

Love the enthusiasm, and I'm glad to hear that young players and others outside the organization think we're building something good here. I am optimistic, but cautiously so. I need to see us break this cycle of losing, starting with the opener in September, and then moving forward through the season. I know we'll lose some games, but we have to start beating teams we should beat, along with a couple we shouldn't. I want us to be NFL grade and not everybody's punk. It's well past time for us to be proud of being Browns' fans again.

I hope he is right about Hue. I'd love nothing more than for the guy to turn it around and get the train rolling down the track. I do agree. We can win the division in short order.

The North is in the midst of serious turnover and we're positioned nicely to take control for a while. We just need to execute.

Unless Cincy or Baltimore takes a QB this year who pans out (Jackson most likely) I don't see them as being future powers

It is a fairly easy division. None of the teams are all that strong. Yeah, I remember when everything went through the North, (or Central as it used to be known). It seems like we always had at least two of our teams in the playoffs. But I agree that it's become an easy division. The other three teams are falling and we're picking up. It should be a good year. At least I'm certain it won't be like last season when I had no hope regardless who we were facing.

Dorsey has done triage. Nothing is healed, but we have sorted through the casualties and made some choices. Interesting to hear this. Guess I have to see what caused the losses and see if we stopped some of those. Fingers crossed.

We made some great pickups in FA/Trades. This is enough reason to get people a bit excited. Normally we do lameo stuff. Not this year. And we have the 1 and 4 picks. It's hard not to feel a little excited. Especially with a GM who seems to be proactive about Win Now. I get the proof is in the pudding. But that will come.

This is all good like some kind of therapy.
After being the butt of every joke.
After head shaking FO moves.
After endless regime change.
Don't even want to go you know where (quarterbacks).
And the latest: losing every single game in a season.
To actually feel some sun on your face is so refreshing.
For real I am looking forward to this season. And I have not felt like this in many moons.

I will proceed with cautious optimism. Every year-literally every year we have this light headed fantasy that everything is gonna be different and it's not.
I'll never give up, but like Pdawg says, I'll believe it when we see some wins.

I get being cautious.
I guard against optimism every year.
But this is different. Tangible changes have been made.
We made significant talent upgrades in free agency.
Our position in this draft is enviable by any standard.
But the real change is the depth of talent in the front office.
We actually have sound, experienced, proven professional guys who know what to do and how.
I don't think we have ever had that.

The schedule is brutal but if the O performs at all and our D can steal one or two I might say maybe. I'm looking to 19-20 for greater things.

We still have the draft. Need to see how the entire off season plays out before I could feel comfortable about predictions.
Rosters are still in flux.
When OTA'S begin we will know a lot more.

--I have never seen a QB coach act as much like an agent and trying to pimp his guy like Palmer is. I really don't care for that. I wonder if Darnold okayed such blatant lobbying for him being the first overall pick. Seems slimy.
--I like the job Dorsey is doing thus far. I think the team is improved.
--I still think we have a lot of holes and inexperience. I think the schedule is brutal and we have to overcome the losing culture that Sashi installed. That is a tough thing to deal with.
--Picks 1 and 4 are obviously going to be huge for our future. I have a bad feeling, but am hoping that most of the reports are false and that Dorsey and crew are smarter than the media.

I'm not predicting anything, but I'm saying we have a chance to compete for the playoffs.
Tyrod has weapons, he's not a turnover machine, is the best QB we've had in a decade. Our offence will be much better, no matter who we draft.
Our D should be a lot better too. If we stay healthy and get some breaks, we might have something THIS season.
Edit: we also need 2nd and 3rd-year players to step up, in some cases
dramatically.

I agree with almost all if your post. Things are looking up but will probably take a gradual improvement over a couple years. The "losing culture Sashi installed" is a load of crap statement. We've had 2 winning seasons in 18. The losing culture has been here much before Sashi got here. You just have to get your little dig in.

In many ways, this is his thing. The higher they get drafted, the next set of guys come to him next year before the draft. I'm sure you know this, but I mean, I think it's expected to be slimy, like an agent. lol. Clearly you have to take what he says about how great his players are and will become with a grain of salt

Petey, I am old school. I coached for years. Scouted for 2 more for a collegiate service. I also did--and still do--private coaching sessions for individuals for as long as I can remember.
I think you do personal coaching to help your pupil improve at his craft. There is something pure and real about it. It's real one-on-one coaching.
I get why Palmer is doing what he is doing. He wants more "big-time" clients in the future. He can say that I helped get Sam Darnold drafted first overall and provide evidence.
I get it!!!!
I just don't like it!

Really was trying to make this about the buzz and direction of the Browns.
We have plenty of QB threads and bash threads.
We have a chance to make this team good.
Agree or disagree with the choices Dorsey make.
Ok.
But from my point of view we can become a good team quickly.
I am excited about Dorsey and his group.
We may or may not like their choices.
But I think they will do well. I accept I may disagree with them.
But I am just some schumck with an opinion.
