This country is based on equality for all people. Work hard and play by the rules. The progressive dribble that goes against equality is just that dribble and has no place in public school. Public school should be teaching our students how to read, write, and math. Personal opinion of an educator should not stand. That is invading the childrens parents rights.

Every time I hear make america great again I think the underlining message is make america white again.

This country has been great for all Americans up until NAFTA. That is when jobs started leaving the country. Making America great is about bringing those jobs back.

Again, this countries motto is all men are created equal by their creator. You have the same opportunities as do I and rightfully so. Teachers have no rights to spew their won personal beliefs on children in a public school.

What she said is wrong there are plenty of minorities in government and high paying jobs that worked hard, even one was President.

Now what right does a teacher have to tell a 6th grade student a personal opinion that may go against what their parents want them taught? There are curriculum and local school boards for a reason.

If anything the laws like affirmative action have gave minorities unfair advantages. When laws like this are on the books I do not want to hear about minorities being treated unfairly.

Companies now operate on an international level allowing them to locate jobs where the pay rates are the most profitable. Due to this, America (once a nationalist protectionist country) entered the big money profit grab world of globalized markets. Your jobs went to the places that offered better ROI, period.

Education, skill sets, and the almighty dollar dictate where companies hire employees in the world now. We must be more competitive.

And automation is compounding globalization woes. But NAFTA played it's part in the trade agreements, it's just not the culprit in this case.

First, slavery still exists. Rarely is it captive slavery though, today it is mostly economic slavery.

Segregation still exists as well. When was the last time you slept in the hood or partied in the barrio? Do you send your kids to a predominantly non-white school? Does your church have a rainbow of equal colors in the pews on Sunday? (tokens don't count).

Hs nothing to do with "White Power". I think that phrase is for ignorant people. I do not care is someone is white, black, brown, or purple. All people are created equal.

The difference is if you were not born in this country there are rules one must follow to become a citizen. Rules are meant for peace and order. If laws are not followed then lawlessness will follow. I know progressives like lawlessness. Black Lives Matter, Occupy Wall Street, and Antifa operate on lawless principles.

Yes there were a few bad actors that got involved or 'claimed' to be part of these groups. There were also some anti-liberal far right plants that acted out to hurt these groups in my opinion. Just like every Trump supporter did NOT beat or harass people of color at Trump rallies, although it did happen a lot.

Now let's talk about groups from the right:

Breitbart/Bannon followers - Anti-Government Chaos was their plan. They are heavily linked to white supremacist groups like neo nazis and the klan.

InfoWars Crowd - Bizarre far right conspiracy theorist group that promotes hate for liberals, immigrants, and reptile people. Often praying for extreme violence and other crazy crap to happen to their perceived enemies.

Evangelicals - Christian based right wing group that lobbies for laws promoting religious theocracy to restrict and or strip constitutional freedoms all in the name of God.

Alt-Right - Extreme far right group claiming conservative values while incorporating violence, fear mongering, racial biases, hate, and chaos to achieve political and economic outcomes that favor white conservative christian idealism.

Corporatist - Right wing conservatives that influence politics for financial gain and laws that favor the elitist oligarchs and corporate rule via political puppetry. They also have some 'so called' liberal political sellouts in their tool chest. This group is behind things like granting corporations personhood, super pacs, and Citizens United that opened the floodgates of money into politics leading to corruption in government on an unprecedented scale.

Birther Movement - Millions of bigots that were so mortified by the election of a black president that they would stoop to any low to have him removed. Questioning his place of birth, religion, political connections and judging every moment of his presidency through racially biased filters.

Trump Supporters - Political pawns manipulated by the above groups, Russian propaganda, and far right anarchist with messages of hate, bigotry, anti-establishment, white oppression, economic oppression, and a big beautiful wall to keep out the boogeyman. This group was driven to elect the worst president in American history as a way to lob a political chaos bomb into a 200 year old American government that had us positioned as the only super power on the planet and the richest country in the world. Yep, they needed to change that.

The Tea Party - This group started as a legit protest group basing arguments against status quo politics on strict constitutional rights, laws and freedoms. But it was quickly hijacked by extreme right wing conservatives only to become the catalyst that would give birth to many of the groups above and swing conservative politics to the far right extremes creating many of the tribal divides we are dealing with today.

This list just scratches the surface, so I'll gladly take my liberal bad apples over your conservative bad apples any day. And your 'rules' were made by people like this and should definitely be revisited and changed to match the feelings of actual American voters as a whole. This is the only way we can negotiate, compromise, heal the divides, and reach a peaceful conclusion to all this political turmoil. Something like 80% of Americans (including conservatives) want a solution for the DACA people that includes a path to citizenship... that would be breaking the current laws. Just FYI.

I'm not in favor of what the teacher said and did. If you want to educate students on social history, history of minorities equality or anything else, do it. Don't vent or inject personal opinion into the classroom in a random unstructured way. Jmo.

Regarding the discussion on when minorities were apparently treated equally or in fact allegedly given the upper hand .... I'd recommend some easy listenting. Malcolm Gladwell has some excellent podcasts as part of his 'revisionist history' series. He covers a range of things from the history of McDonald's french fries to how much tax Golf Courses in LA pay to an episode looking at Churchill and his WWII decisions that impacted India. They are excellent, interesting and educational.... Two episodes that are insightful on how equally minorities were treated relatively recently are : "Mr Holly well didn't like that" and "state vs Johnson" ... I can't recommend listening to them highly enough

Public school should not have personal opinion based teachings. That is not what people pay their taxes for. Teachers need to teach the curriculum that is agreed upon by the school board. Going against that is a violation of the public's trust. This teacher is full of hate and has no business teaching in a public school. This little 6 grade girl was offended when her teacher violated her beliefs.

Wouldnt telling the lie that all men are treated equal in this country be an opinion. Maybe it is good this sixth grader was offended , maybe we should start teaching the truth instead of propaganda .

It is impossible for ANY teacher to teach without any of their personal feelings coming into the teaching . History is not as cut and dry as something like math or science.
