Every time I hear make america great again I think the underlining message is make america white again.
It is about bringing jobs back to our country. Has nothing to do with race.
BS .. it has everything to do with race. "Make America Great Again" slogan is for people who want to return to what America was years ago. The slogan rallied and empowered groups like the KKK, Alt Right, and White Supremacists across the country. It's all about race with this administration. It's a direct white empowered backlash slogan defying the Obama years.
Actually it was all about race with Barry’s admin....I grew up in tge regan,Bush 1,Clinton,bush 2 years.....race was not really a hot bed issue...it wasn’t until BO (or 44 as some refer to him) got in office the the race pot start boiling over.
Yeah, it's almost like we recognized race on a national scale for the first time since the civil war.
School teacher instructs students to write anti-gun letters to Congress
Boys and girls at Hampton Middle School in Georgia were instructed by their teacher to write letters to lawmakers calling for stricter gun control laws.
"You are trying to persuade lawmakers to have stricter gun laws to help prevent another school shooting from taking place," the assignment declared. "For this assignment, you are writing a letter to the lawmakers of the United States. The purpose of this letter is to pressure lawmakers to have stricter gun laws in the United States.
Blue Lives Matter obtained a copy of the social studies assignment from a police officer whose son was in the classroom.
"I asked him what he had for homework that night, and he said he had to write a paper on gun control," William Lee told Blue Lives Matter. "I looked at it, and I told my son, 'No, you're not doing that assignment.' Then I emailed his teacher the next day and told him that my son would not be writing that."

That's your opinion and I am not saying it's right or wrong. When I hear that phrase I think the underlining (as you said) message is "A time when jobs were plentiful, and anybody who worked their butt off could improve their life and the lives of their families.
So tell me how building the stupid wall getting the illegals out is about jobs coming back? Hmmm. Oh right, those dirty illegals take all of our highest paying jobs. Got it. rolleyes
No, they just help keep the wages for low paying jobs even lower.

Other than cyclical downturns in the economy.. that has never really gone away.

You are partially correct. A lot of race issues that had been suppressed for a long time surfaced during the Obama administration... but most of it wasn't Obama's doing... The really angry, hateful, racist side of a lot of white folks who had been quiet for decades suddenly became very vocal again...

Disagree.
All my life helping minorities rise up through our actions and through our tax dollars was the right thing to do. It was good for America.
During hard economic times, everyone was competing for a few jobs causing much stress.
Affirmative Action told the high scoring, more experienced white Fire Chief, Police Chief, School Teacher, and more that the Minority gets the job because he is a minority.
Hard work, experience and an education no longer mattered as much as race did.

Yes, who can forget Obama presiding during the (checks notes) LA Riots of 1992.

Does anyone have a link to any official White House statements President Obama made about the 1995 Mark Fuhrman tapes?
Race wasn't a hotbed issue before Obama, and I'm having trouble finding his 1995 comments on tapes of Fuhrman repeatedly using the N-word and admitting to planting drugs and weapons on blacks.
Protesting for a world without borders. Trying to remind american people that they are people too... This is not a threat, it's a protest. And even if they do try to cross they'll be stopped, so no big deal.

I'm also struggling to find President Obama's 2001 response to the Cincinnati riots stemming from an unarmed 15 year old black male being shot in the back over a traffic ticket warrant.
Obama was president in 2001, as we all know, seeing as race wasn't a hot button issue before him.
My internet must be wonky, because I'm having trouble finding articles regarding the Obama administration's handling of the 1980 Miami race riots that were sparked after police shot an unarmed black Marine.
As teedub pointed out, all of this racial stuff started after Obama became president, so I'm trying to look up how President Obama handled the 1980 incident.

Did you read that on a Facebook meme? Because that's not how Affirmative Action works at all... It was a great excuse for folks to use who weren't hired or promoted to blame it on AA rather than accept that they weren't as qualified.

You're trying to argue that an undeniably racist imbecile who hasn't made a single merit-based appointment in his tenure to date is staffing a stable of 99%-white interns due to merit?

Every man for himself after that.

No. Unlike you I do not complicate the simple or simplify the complex.
Affirmative Action drove a wedge between the Races when it came to the working world. It started off as a good idea and brought many White owners to hire Minorities.
But then the inch became a mile by driving a wedge between the Races as better qualified Whites were denied jobs due to their Race.
The 1970 census racial categories included: Chinese, Filipino, Hawaiian, Indian American, Japanese, Negro or Black, other, White, Hispanic origin of any race, and White, not of Hispanic origin. Mexicans were counted as white from 1930 until 1970.
The 1980 census racial categories included Aleut, Asian Indian, Black or Negro, Chinese, Filipino, Eskimo, Guamanian, Hawaiian, Indian American, Japanese, Korean, other, Samoan, Vietnamese, White, Hispanic origin of any race, and White, not of Hispanic origin.
Women and the Handicapped were also added to the list along the way.
Then the Courts got involved as lawsuit after lawsuit was filed by all the minorities and whites against each other.
My understanding of affirmative action was that only if equal or more qualified minority candidates were in consideration did it influence the process.
My understanding is that the idea that better qualified white candidates got tossed aside for unqualified minorities is total and utter nonsense.
I'm happy to learn otherwise if someone can provide some facts and references.
The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.

Both of those things are correct... it's like a "last consideration" thing for 2 people who are similarly qualified.
Title VII pretty clearly prohibits hiring a lesser qualified person because of race.. and that works in both directions.
There have been court cases from minorities who claim they were not given equal consideration and from whites who claim they were passed over unfairly.. and there have been instances of people misinterpreting the law.. those things happen and they get sorted out.
But this notion that hordes of white people are being denied employment or promotion in favor of less qualified minorities because of affirmative action is a scare tactic.. and the spreading of rumors like this is one of the leading reasons AA is driving a wedge between races...
yo Teedub, you need to start that father thread over again, i thought it was gonna be a nice discussion.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

You say these things got sorted out. Well yes, through the Supreme Court after years of working their way through the lower Courts. White people suffered for years before it got sorted out!
Spreading rumors? No, opening eyes to the truth!
Now I realize for you guys on the Left it doesn't matter that this injustice was done to White people but it most certainly drove a wedge between the Races.
10 years from now DC will tell us that Police shootings involving Blacks got sorted out. As if it was nothing.
-In 1986, in Wygant v. Jackson Board of Education, the Supreme Court ruled that the school board's policy of protecting minority teachers by laying off non-minority teachers regardless of seniority was unconstitutional, citing the burden imposed on innocent parties.
-In 2003, two lawsuits involving the University of Michigan's affirmative action admissions policy reached the U.S. Supreme Court Grutter v. Bollinger and Gratz v. Bollinger. In the first case, the court upheld the law school's admissions policy citing "a compelling interest in obtaining the educational benefits that flow from a diverse student body," while in the second it ruled against the university's undergraduate admissions policy, which relied on a more formulaic point system.
white privilege is white people somehow thinking that 13% of the population is taking all the jobs away from them.

Racism is the unfair treatment of different Race solely because of their Race.
thanks for acknowledging that the teacher was correct.

unfortunately, she isn't. hopefully one day we will be at a point that she is wrong, but it isn't right now.
which honestly, if we changed the criminal justice system, then she would finally be wrong.

Well yes, through the Supreme Court after years of working their way through the lower Courts. White people suffered for years before it got sorted out!
And I feel very bad for those white people who lived in peace for all those years that their grandparents owned the grandparents of the people who took a job that was rightfully theirs.

There is only one wedge between the races and it's slavery and decades of mistreatment after... everything else is a result of that... black people just want a more level playing field, white people want blacks to get over and be happy they have what they have...

Thanks for posting this to prove that instances where the law was misapplied or even abused got worked out in the courts... that's awesome. Whoever said you don't know how to use Google clearly underestimated you.
DC is a republican. He's just not a whacka mole Republican like some of you. I know if you don't quote FOX News speaking points 24/7 that doesn't qualify to you. But those are the type Republicans you can actually debate and have a conversation with. It actually dates back to the days when Republicans respected family values and the sanctity of marriage.
