It’s day two already. At Augusta National. (GA) The first of the 4 major championships of the year.. Is anybody watching it? Does anybody still here care? My two favorite golfers Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson are doing OK. Mickelson is ~ 1/2 through the second round. Bubba tees off ~ 2 pm. Mickelson’s near the top of the leaderboard. Bubba will need to have a good round today to make the cut. Tiger’s tied for 28th, but only ~ 5 strokes back. 80 degrees today. Cool and rainy tomorrow. Snowing right now here in CT.

I saw Sergio's "13" yesterday and felt kind of bad. He was hitting good shots that would land right where he wanted it, but they would just roll of the green like he was hitting it onto a slanted pool table.

The only one I watch, and if I might add religiously, is the Masters. With the advent of RECORDING/DVR'ing TV it's what I watched last night, what I'll watch after the home opener today, Sat night, and Sun night. Yesterday(thurs) at 5p I told my blushing bride of 33 years, "see ya Sunday night"! As a member of Orchard Hills in the early 60's my father had a club in my hand when I was 6-7 years old. When he passed away when I just turned 16. I quit the game for 8? 10? years. At 24, 25, 26 years old a guy I worked with asked me, "ya ever golf"? Joined a 48ish members traveling league in NEO. A flight, B flight, skins, pin shots, A championship, B championship, year end huge banquet, etc, etc. Great time. Started at the max 25 handicap and got it down to an 8ish/9ish. Played in that league for 12ish years, and then work, responsibilities, etc, etc really kicked in. Since then I played "socially", 3-4 times a year till double knee replacement 3ish years ago. Been afraid to twist something I guess. Said to myself the last few years up till today and will say it tomorrow, "gotta get to the driving range"!!! Now that I'm thinking of it, Oh man Oh man, "I REALLY GOTTA GET TO THE DRIVING RANGE"! Golf. So relaxing yet so challenging. When your standing over the ball all you're thinkin is "it's just me vs the ball". You're not thinking rent, house payments, taxes, life, or death. After you're done and you put your key in the ignition the rat race starts back up. Just an imo.

Golf. Knee replacement.
Got me to thinking.
Back in January, called a friend to see if he wanted to go to the new indoor golf simulator the next day. Asked my dad, too. Dad texted back "Are you serious?" (it was like, 5 degrees out. I didn't say "wanna meet at the new place" I just asked 'hey, wanna golf tomorrow?')
Blah, blah.......dad called. Said "i'd love to, thanks for the offer, but, with my knee the way it is, I'm afraid I'd twist it.
He's had pain in it for a while, hurt it on a cruise in Iceland prior to that. I knew that.
Anyway, went to golf with my friend. Had a great time.
Next day, was out to dad's house to see him. And he said "I'm old. I'm afraid I'll screw my knee up more if I golf. Might twist it. I don't want a knee replacement. I'm done golfing. I don't want surgery to replace my knee."
And here's this little kid (me - at 49 years old) looking across the table at his invincible dad..........and thinking "WHAT? Dad? Giving up golf?"

Yup. In my eyes my dad imo was "the invincibl-est" as well. Life certainly catches up with us. I will. I just gotta. A golf dome 3 miles away and.....

Funny how things work.
Phil Mickelson feel apart the back 9 today and finished with a worst 79 (of golfers making the cut). He feel 35 places. Barely made the cut.
Bubba shot a 69 today and is tied for 8th going into Saturday.
The leader board is full of the usual suspects.
The current leader Patrick Reed has been one of my favorites since he golfed in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil. (in place of that loser Dustin Johnson)
Remember that horrible disease of the year? Those golfers that refused to golf in the Olympics for their countries really turned me off.
They were either incredibly stupid (probably) or too greedy (definitely) to "golf-for-free" for their country.
Hang in there Reed!
Tiger plays on. 73/75 tied for 40th.

It's my favourite golf tournament, the one major played on the same course everything year. Patrick Reed or another lesser known player, it'd be cool if a guy like that won a masters. Love the 16th hole at Augusta.

As a golf fan, I think Sergio got hosed. To me a sloping green like that is a gimmick, give points for landing near the pin. Masters is a big thing, just felt bad for him, as a golf fan.

A par 5, 530 yard hole that averaged under par, 4.6437, in score. Only 3 of the 87 golfers had a bogey and only 3 had a double bogey or worse on 15. 93% of the field had a favorable outcome playing hole #15. This is a shot makers course setup. They all knew how it was setup and how it would react. These guys know how to kill the backspin on the ball, he kept on forcing that shot and spinning it.

These guys play on such manicured courses set up to score high so the public gets all excited over it. They're the best in the world and I love to see them challenged! If they get upset too bad! It's one of the reasons I love the British Open too. I love to see them squirm and sometimes cry. I do t know why they wouldn't expect a challenge now and then.

Did they put it in a different place for the others or did he play the same pin as everyone else? ...

It would be funny if someone put a little garden windmill in front of the cup next time Sergio plays there, although maybe not to him.

Just saw that the only player to birdie #11 was a "non competitive marker". I never knew such a thing existed until today

I was thinking, if that guy was so good at the course, why doesn't he just play in the Tour. Been then I thought: Well, he probably has a job that pays him well enough that he can be an Augusta member. He also wouldn't have to travel around across the country every week and could stay at home. And finally, he probably plays that course daily and knows it like the back of his hand. Put him on another Majors location and he probably looks like me at a Par-3 course.

I thought I was misinterpreting today's scores so far when I saw Paul Casey -9 through 15 holes.
Nice round so far. The club record is within Casey's reach.

J/C What are the number's beside the name's at the 1st. tee box sign mean? It’s their player number assigned by the committee. Their caddies also wear that number.
