...you show up to a fitting for a court ordered GPS and alcohol-testing monitor with a BAC of 0.41.

Aldon Smith reportedly had BAC of 0.40 when arrested at fitting for alcohol monitor
by Sean Wagner-McGough @seanjwagner

New details have emerged regarding Aldon Smith's arrest on Friday after he violated a court order.

When the troubled and perpetually suspended NFL pass rusher was arrested, his blood alcohol content was five times California's legal driving limit, The San Francisco Chronicle's Evan Sernoffsky reported on Wednesday. According to The Chronicle, prosectors said that Smith showed up to his fitting for court ordered GPS and alcohol-testing ankle monitors at the San Francisco Sheriff's Department with a BAC of 0.40, which eventually rose to 0.41.

"That amount of alcohol is the equivalent of the anesthesia for major surgery," Dr. Keith Humphreys, an addiction expert and professor in Stanford's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science, told The Chronicle. "A normal-type person would be blacked out unconscious and at risk of a coma."

Humphreys also said that by being able to "walk around at 0.40, he has to be exceptionally alcohol-dependent already. ... Anyone at that level has a serious alcohol problem."

Last Thursday, Smith was ordered to enroll in alcohol monitoring in the aftermath of his arrest pertaining to an alleged domestic violence incident in early March. Smith pleaded not guilty to the domestic violence charges. He was arrested again on Friday when he violated conditions of his bail by showing up to his fitting inebriated. Bail was set at $500,000.

Smith, the No. 7 overall pick in 2011, spent his first four seasons with the 49ers before signing with the Raiders in 2015. At his peak, Smith was a dominant pass rusher, notching 33.5 sacks in his first two seasons. But due to myriad off-the-field issues -- substance abuse, a hit-and-run, domestic violence, and possession of illegal weapons -- Smith hasn't played in an NFL game since the 2015 season. He's been arrested three times in the past two months.

The Raiders released him last month. To play in the NFL again, he needs to be reinstated by the league.

Dude, 0.41? How is he not dead or passed out? And how did he think showing up for a fitting in that condition isn't a sign his life is out of control?

I'm sure he's innocent. It was probably second hand alcohol.

Alcohol only played a minor role here.

Mizzou should have been sanctioned for the charade that Smith belonged in college.

An extreme example of what's become of the NFL.

Hey, if Smith's NFL career is over, do you think he'll go back and finish his degree? rofl

The real trick is that you have to hope he wants that help. Some people get help because the court orders it. Some get help because their families and friends pressure them into it.

But until someone actually realizes they need that help and seek it out because they want to make a positive change in their life, that help won't help.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

That's an unsubstantiated rumor.

Seriously, I hope the dude gets his life together before his death is just a blip flowing across the bottom of ESPN.

Police: Man Arrested for Stealing a Car Drives to Court Appearance … in a Stolen Car
POSTED 7:00 PM, MARCH 8, 2018

HARTFORD, Conn. — A Connecticut man accused of car theft drove to a court appearance in a stolen car, police say.

On Wednesday, 25-year-old Jonathan Rivera was at the Hartford Superior Court to appear before a judge on a February charge of first-degree larceny and tampering with a motor vehicle.

Parking authority agents scanning license plates outside the courthouse found Rivera's car, a 2014 white Subaru Legacy, that had been reported stolen out of Newington, according to police.

Police kept an eye on the car and arrested Rivera when he got inside and tried to drive away.

Rivera has been charged with second-degree larceny and taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s permission.

Reminds me of that Seinfeld episode when Kramer wore the very pants he went to the store to return.
