The drill instructor from Full Metal Jacket has died...
Served in Viet Nam, retired from the Corps after 10 years.
Having experienced Parris Island, I have to say, this guy was the real deal on screen.
He was the consultant for Stanley Kubrick on the movie and wanted the part of the Drill Instructor, Kubrick wasn't going to give it to him, so, having been a drill instructor he went off on him to stand up when spoken to, Kubrick OBEYED and gave him the job on the spot.
Semper Fi Gunny.
WE DON'T NEED A QB BEFORE WE GET A LINE THAT CAN PROTECT HIM my two cents...
Going to miss him on Gunny Time on the Outdoors Channel.
Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thy heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
RIP Gunny... say hello to Chesty for us! Semper Fi
If you guys can find it, I highly recommend watching Siege of Firebase Gloria. It's a Vietnam era story he starred in where he and a group of Recon Marines have to hold out against VC on one of those small hilltop posts.
"Hey, I'm a reasonable guy. But I've just experienced some very unreasonable things." -Jack Burton
-It looks like the Harvard Boys know what they are doing after all.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
About 10 years ago I spent a week with him at a national military vehicle show in Dayton. Had a few dinners and alot of conversation and found he was a really good guy. My kids still laugh at the many photos I have with him from the event.
John 3:16 Jesus said "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

That was not a good movie, the acting and effects were terrible. I thought it was shoddily thrown together, trying to capitalize on the success of "Platoon". There are some classic scenes in it though, that I won't spoil if anyone plans to watch it.
And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul. - John Muir
Not sure where you draw the distinction between "nut" and "enthusiast"... but that seems like the prime example of why to own a gun... even though he is very calm and almost giddy somebody broke into his house.
