“And I feel like…if Cleveland did any of their homework, they would have known that I was a guy that didn’t come in every day and watch film, I was a guy that didn’t really know the Xs and Os of football.

I'm betting that Cleveland did an adequate amount of homework. I bet Cleveland knew all of those things about his past. I just think that they thought it would change the day they drafted him that he would spawn into a real professional and never look back... I also think there was some emotion in that pick that pushed logic aside...

I'd also bet that Manziel lied his butt off in interviews telling teams he was aware of his reputation and that he was committed to changing and blahblahblah...

Brady Quinn, baffled me. I ended up watching a lot of film on him, thanks to Diam...lol laugh

He didn't look half bad, I cannot understand why he didn't progress at all, possibly it was who we had here but Daboll actually did a great job with Cody. Possibly he over worked his upper body in the gym? Pressure being a Browns fan was too great? Having his sister Marry Hawk threw him for a loop? lol laugh

sorry didn't mean to digress into our past. I think the FA market is at a lull right now. Probably little to no action till after the draft.

How do we sit in the Cap department.

Does anyone have the current status of Cap regarding the NFL?

jmh?

No... it doesn't. JM is not a Brown and he'll never be a Brown. He'll likely never be in the NFL again. End of story, once this loser is passed up, we'll hear about his CFL signing and then we won't likely ever have to discuss that scum's name again.

Good bye and good riddance, I don't want to see a Manziel thread so. Let it go away, please.

I see it's value as multiple cautionary tales all rolled into 1.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Then let's talk about why we didn't even interview Justin Gilbert in that 2014 draft, which/who was selected before JM. I'd much rather talk about that failure than JM.

I'd talk about the dynamics of checkers over JM. Why the sky is blue. Argue which taste better, Coke or Pepsi. Gosh, darn near anything.

This is where I'm at. I would go LT instead of RT though and throw in a WR.

FA roundup: Giants sign ex-Steelers DB William Gay

I for one am happy because I can remember his play against us.

BEREA, Ohio -- The Pierogi Prince of Parma is sticking around a little bit longer. Defensive lineman Jamie Meder, a restricted free agent, signed his tender, the team announced on Thursday.

Meder, whose blocked field goal on Christmas Eve against San Diego in 2016 helped the Browns collect their only win in the last two seasons and earned him the royal nickname from Joe Thomas, attended Valley Forge High School and Ashland University. He has appeared in 43 games since joining the Browns in 2016, including 16 starts.

Meder's 2017 season was cut short by an ankle injury, limiting him to 10 games.

Report: Willie Snead Will Play for Ravens After Saints Decline to Match Contract
KYLE NEWPORT
APRIL 23, 2018

The Baltimore Ravens signed Willie Snead to a two-year, $10.4 million offer sheet, and the New Orleans Saints have decided against matching the contract, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Undrafted out of Ball State, Snead bounced around from team to team before finding a home in Louisiana near the end of the 2014 season. Snead won a roster spot with a strong training camp the following year and has since become a playmaker in Sean Payton's offense.

In three seasons with the Saints, the 5'11", 195-pound receiver hauled in 149 catches for 1,971 yards and seven touchdowns.

Snead averaged 939 yards and 3.5 touchdowns during his first two seasons with New Orleans. Last year was a rough one, which was unfortunate for him with free agency looming. The 25-year-old was suspended for the first three games of the 2017 season for violating the league's policy on substance abuse. He caught just eight passes for 92 yards in 11 games.

New Orleans was one Minnesota Miracle away from a spot in the NFC Championship Game last season. Looking to build on that success, the team helped quarterback Drew Brees by adding Josh Huff, Cameron Meredith and Benjamin Watson in free agency.

Those additions made Snead expendable, especially following his disappointing season.

Meanwhile, Snead should help Baltimore improve a passing attack that ranked 29th in the league last season. The Ravens have already added Michael Crabtree, John Brown and DeVier Posey to help Joe Flacco move the ball.

He works hard. I like his motor on the field.

Let the winning begin. The Browns are getting better, I hope.

So Dez won't be a Raven. Giants seems most likely, maybe 49ers too

10 good players still lingering on the NFL free-agent market
Brad Gagnon 7 hrs ago

We tend to think of free agency as a “March thing,” but high-quality players continue to linger on the free-agent market as June arrives. Here are 10 who could make an impact somewhere this season…

1. QB Colin Kaepernick: We’ve been over this.

2. WR Dez Bryant: The three-time Pro Bowler was released by the Cowboys in April at the age of 29. At the very least, he can be a top-end No. 2 target. Look for him to catch on somewhere as an injury replacement in August.

3. LB Mychal Kendricks: A highly-paid odd man out with Jordan Hicks back from injury and Nigel Bradham back under contract, Kendricks is only 27 and is coming off a year in which he was a top-10 linebacker at Pro Football Focus. Look for the recently-released Kendricks to sign somewhere very soon.

4. S Tre Boston: As you’ll see, it’s not a good year to be a free-agent safety. The 25-year-old Boston is coming off a five-interception season with the Chargers, but he’s essentially been replaced there.

5. LB NaVorro Bowman: A long-term deal might be too risky, but the four-time All-Pro made a huge difference with the Raiders last season. He’s yet to turn 30, somehow.

6. DT Johnathan Hankins: No longer a fit in Indianapolis, the 26-year-old has been a solid starter in each of the last four seasons (three with the Giants, one with the Colts).

7. S Kenny Vaccaro: The 2013 first-round pick is coming off a three-interception season in New Orleans, despite playing just 12 games. He’s made it through just one complete season out of five but is a solid starter when healthy. It looks like he took several meetings in May.

8. S Eric Reid: The 2013 first-round pick has 10 interceptions in 70 career games. The 26-year-old is strong in coverage, but injury and protest-related concerns could be getting in the way.

9. CB Bashaud Breeland: The 26-year-old intercepted eight passes and recorded 59 passes defensed during the first four seasons of his career in Washington. He’s still recovering from a foot injury, and when that happens he just might wind up in Indianapolis.

10. DE Robert Ayers: He’ll be 33 before he plays another game, but Ayers has the ability to contribute somewhere as an effective situational pass-rusher. He’s a couple years removed from a nine-sack season, and despite being hampered by an ankle injury he graded out well at PFF in 2017.

I'll take Kendricks and Boston. There seem to be better players than normal at this time of year
