Sony Michel - RB - Bulldogs

According to Injury Predictor, Georgia RB Sony Michel tore his ACL in 2011.
This was well before Michel his the college level, but lately buzz has built that teams are concerned about Michel's knee. The star running back also has a broken shoulder blade and fractured left forearm on his history as well.

That was the rumor about Michel last week too ... I bet he slips into the 3rd

Since we don't have an active Mock Drafts thread, I'll just post it here for our consumption. Nothing too crazy, just a new mock by Will Brinson:

The Browns walk away with three first-round picks and change the direction of their franchise
Will Brinson

This is it? I think it might be for me, my final mock draft of the year. Just like most stuff in life, I build up in my mind about how it will end, expecting some grand sense of finality, and then a deadline pops me in the mouth and I end up regretting not being able to nitpick every little pick. But here's the reality of the 2018 NFL Draft: no one is going to be remotely correct.

This draft is going to be Michael Keaton-level nuts, with a ton of trades, thanks to the quarterbacks out there. Remember last year's "bad" quarterback class that featured multiple teams trading future firsts to fly up the board and snag signal callers? This draft has two or three guys who could slip a little bit and cause a major seismic shift in terms of teams chasing talent.

Most of these picks will probably end up being wrong, because mocks are often wrong. But I think the spirit of this mock is strong, in terms of feeling how the draft with go. With that in mind a few predictions before you dive in.

At the end of the day, the following things are going to happen:

The Giants will not take a quarterback.

Two teams will trade into the top 10.

The Browns will walk away HUGE winners in this draft.

The order of the quarterbacks taken will surprise some people.

Either Derwin James or Roquan Smith will go higher than people expect.

Two more teams will trade up for the second section of quarterbacks (Lamar Jackson, Mason Rudolph).

The Eagles will trade out of the first round.

More cornerbacks will go than wide receivers.

1. Cleveland Browns
Sam Darnold, QB, USC: After talking to Dustin Fox on the latest Pick Six Podcast, I was tempted to go Baker Mayfield here. He might very well still be in play for the Browns -- no one knows what Cleveland is going to do outside of John Dorsey. At the end of the day, Darnold is the safest bet, but also a guy with a ton of upside.

2. New York Giants
Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State: Dave Gettleman didn't make any bones about taking Christian McCaffrey at the No. 8 pick and he won't make any bones about taking Barkley with the No. 2 pick if he thinks it can help his offense.

3. New York Jets
Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA: There's tons of Mayfield buzz here, almost too much. The Jets can't just broadcast their guy a week before the draft with everyone hearing Rosen could drop and us be expected to just buy hook, line and sinker.

4. Cleveland Browns (via Houston Texans)
Bradley Chubb, DE, NC State: This could easily be a trade-down spot, but I don't think so if Chubb is here. He's the best player in the draft and will be a terror lined up across from Myles Garrett. The Bills will be interested in moving up, but going down to No. 12 might be too far for Dorsey with all the picks he has on hand.

32. Cleveland Browns (PHI mock)
Derrius Guice, RB, LSU: The Eagles are trading out of this spot, it's just a question of with who, and after the Browns missed on Barkley up high, they can land Guice here with the bonus of picking up his fifth-year option, a crucial element in a running back contract in 2018.

J/C I was watching path to the draft w/ Chubb and Barkely - they took them to a gator farm, was hilarious watching them freak out lol. Both these kids seem to have their heads on straight, and great senses of humor. Two teams are going to get two special players on and off the field.

Personally, i think SB is too much a freak of talent to pass up. But ill settle w/ Chubb as he is a freak as well.

Might as well just grab Allen at #1 then, and go with TWO guys that should be drafted in the second round in the top 4 picks. crazy

There is a poll on

http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ss...art_river_index

asking which Qb you want the Browns to take.

Not surprisingly Darnold is in the lead with 45% of the vote.
What did surprise me is that Allen has 32% - never thought it would be that high

For completeness:

Mayfield 15%
Rosen 8%
Jackson 1.5%
Other 1.5%

and not like posters on this board where we go over so much and a lot of film. The big chunk go on the media and what they read and if they see film it will be a hilite film on Allen. So they ape what they read.

But at least we know better wink and pray that Dorsey does

for this supposedly being one of the best drafts in recent history for QB's, so much debate and question marks around all of them. I've tried to research all of them and I really don't know. I think its going to be about looking at what you think you can make them be if you're Hue and Co. Can you teach allen accuracy, can you teach darnold to not turn it over, is Mayfield tall enough, is Rosen a concussion away from jelly? I really think Mayfield is probably the safest right now. But I can see the case for Darnold and Allen if their issues are correctable. Allen has probably one of the strongest arms I've ever seen, but 56% completion in college is scary, we just traded away a big, strong armed, inaccurate QB. All I know this is going to be the most anticipated and exciting draft we've had since return. So much good can happen this year with the right picks in addition to the offseason overhaul

John Dorsey - G - Browns

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Browns are shopping the No. 4 pick.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero adds Cleveland has had "a lot of conversations" about a trade. The fourth-overall pick is a potential move up spot for teams looking to draft a quarterback. The Browns would get multiple Day 2 picks if they trade down, but it may put them out of the range of Saquon Barkley and NC State DE Bradley Chubb.

If they only are looking at "multiple day 2 picks", they better not be moving beyond a pick or 2 down.

One thing about Penny, however, is do his stats benefit from SD State's "ground raid" offense? They do run a lot. But, I love his size, his vision and he has good hands. I think he could be a great powerback. With Penny, Hyde, Duke, Landry, Gordon, Njoku and Coleman and even DeValve...Tyrod will have a nice set of weapons to unload the ball. Questions will then fall on the LT.

I learned a bit about the available RB in Vers' thread. The more I think about it, if we are not going to draft Barkley (and I highly doubt we are) Penny seems like a very good fit with the RB we already have.

J/C - Not sure if anyone has posted this but I've only just seen it.

Mike Lombardi reporting that Sony Michel has a bone-on-bone condition in his knee. The same thing happened with Jay Ajayi, who fell to the 5th as a result.

Lombardi says teams have concerns Michel won't make it to a second contract.

What I would love to know is why Rosen has never been part of it. Not even for disinformation purposes. Browns have been linked exclusively to Darnold, Allen and Mayfield.

Even if he was never a serious contender, I wonder why Rosen was never even part of the smoke.

Why does there have to be smoke? ... your saying we hired someone as a “ploy” to fool others .... rofl ....

Maybe we hired him simply for the reason Dorsey respects his opinion and values his input ... it doesnt mean he was hired to be the pied-piper ... he was a rat with input ... *L* ...

All this talk of smoke ... we have the #1 pick ... NO NEED FOR SMOKE ...

U know whats way more affective than trying to fool people by giving out mis-information ... u wanna really get others scared about what your going to do ... STAY SILENT ... watch them freak ... watch them squirm when u say NOTHING ....

Why does it have to be the McCloughan was hired for his input on the first pick and nothing else? I'm pretty sure he was hired for his depth of knowledge about the whole draft, especially beyond the top 50.

Needed or not there is always smoke. And obviously there's smoke if there are report Darnold is off the board, and Darnold is the pick... which is it?

I'm not saying Mccloughan was hired to fool people, not at all... but people around the league knows he loves him. Seems odd to hire a guy who said he is all in on a player and not consider taking him.... no?

I'm just ready for draft to be over and get on with the season. Draft is too far from Superbowl for me. Everything gets rehashed on TV/radio/blog ad nauseam

He must have learned from his predecessors: always have a fall guy.

Well, it's finally the day. Next two days actually.

Undoubtedly the two best days of 2018 for Browns fans.
