COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - An inspiring video is just starting to go viral, and the young woman in it is hoping a message will go viral with it.

Mandy Horvath conquered the Manitou Incline, step by 2,744 steps, which is about 1 mile in length and gains 2,000 feet in elevation along the way. There are many people who can’t handle the Incline. Mandy is not one of those people.

Mandy lost both of her legs in a tragic accident several years ago involving a train.

"I don't really see how big of an accomplishment it is because I do things differently every day," Mandy explained. "I've been through a lot, and I somehow always manage to come out on top."

Mandy wasn’t training to do the Incline, but there are two main reasons she decided to scale the trail. One of those reasons: she loves seeking out adventure. The other was to raise awareness.

"It's Limb Loss Awareness Month; that was a big factor in doing it," Mandy said.

Mandy is a full-time student at UCCS. Although she’s studying biology right now, she plans on switching majors to nutrition business. She achieved her goal of conquering the Incline. In the future, she hopes to open a handicap-accessible restaurant for veterans and amputees. She had a message for anyone who is afraid of failing.

“If you fail, you can always try again,” Mandy stated. “You can get up tomorrow and it's a new day. You can make it whatever you make it.”

This is one heck of an accomplishment. This trail is no joke. Climbs 2000 feet in just under a mile. Grade ranges from 45%-68%. Starts at an altitude of 6600 ft.

I don’t know what to say.

I’ll try free association (the first words that come out of my mouth (Brain))

Horrible tragedy. Train accident?

Wow.

I’m such a wimp.

I hope:

1) She keeps her spirit up the rest of her life,
2) She continues to find happiness,
3) She makes it her life's work to visit as many disabled people as possible.

That's incredible.

Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Yowza. Hell of an accomplishment. I've seen those steps up close, but I didn't have the slightest urge to tackle the climb. That's Pike's Peak in the background of the bottom pic.

pretty sweet accomplishment!

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Good God how can I be on the side against double amputees.

Well, whenever there is a one sided issue that comes from this fallen world and everyone is expected to jump onto one because it just has to be.

2 weeks ago, there was broadcast of some person, a double amputee, had run 31 marathons in 31 days, I thought the person must have ran their feet off and then I found out they were a double amputee.

I can't have 7 points of a two hour debate and can't get the first part of the first one onto paper before the thing.

It is about human life, and human dignity, and the sanctity of human identity.

Nobody who looks at things differently is going to be understood. It is not an IQ test it is just questioning the normal response that is demanded.

53 years from now, when the argument is made, that human legs are obsolete which side would you be on?

I think we have to get out in front of this before it reaches that point.

If human legs can be said to be obsolete then human beings in general are soon to follow, that they will be obsolete,

and that means we're better off without them.

It is just like all the other slippery slopes.

Now Away From All Of That!

Yes it is a wonderful feat and accomplishment for a person to achieve after such a tragic loss which is a double amputee.
It's a feel good story, (but I dislike the word inspirational in this case) because is it supposed to inspire other people to do something?

So, there is a great stamina shown, if a human loses both legs their heart would have 30-45% less blood to pump, or rather less area to pump the same amount of blood to, in my quick guesstimation.

Think about football.

If science could develop artificial legs that function at greater than or equal to human legs, require a person's heart to pump at a 30-45% greater efficiency, (increased stamina)
and virtually eliminate any knee, foot, Achilles, or other lower extremity injuries by the fact artificial desigen allows for quick repair or replacement.

Then at some point the rule has to be made that someone must be ineligible to play football if they "voluntarily" cut their legs off for artificial ones.

You say that is outrageously stupid, it would never happen and it's an insult to the people who suffer this tragedy.

I'm saying it will happen eventually in the future and the time to get ahead of this is now.

OH!
And Good for them, Don't give up!
They are a hope and inspiration to their family and those around them. thumbsup

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.
