Indians go into a 3 game series at Yankee Stadium with a depleted bullpen, and now Nick Goody goes to the DL with an elbow problem. Oh, and Josh Tomlin is on the hill tonight. This can only end well.

I have a good feeling though; the offense is coming off a good little swing. Yankees starting pitching is suspect and the tribe should miss Severino

Will we see good Tomlin or bad Tomlin? Fingers crossed he's able to work the borders of the strike box.

Between Tomlin, and the way the bullpen has (not) performed, of late ...... I am not hopeful of a good outcome tonight.

Seeing as how both Cody Allen and Andrew Miller are in their walk year, the Indians should be looking now for a power arm (or two) in the bullpen. Trade some prospects for a guy with low WHIP and high K ratio from a non-contending team. A team looking to rebuild might be interested in an Eric Haase, Yandy Diaz, Greg Allen, Gio Urshela, or Erik Gonzalez - or some package of those 2nd tier prospects (guys not named Mejia, Bradley, McKenzie, or Bieber). I don't see any way the Indians keep both Cody Allen and Andrew Miller, and they probably won't keep either because they're both going to want more than $12M per year.

5-0 Yankees, bottom of the 5th. Tomlin has given up 3 more bombs. Josh is a great competitor, but he can't pitch at this level with this kind of command. It might work against the Twins or Royals, but not the Yankees.

Should we have any interest in Matt Harvey? He can’t be as bad as Tomlin has been.
By the way 6-6 bottom 9.

We had a guy yesterday who is ready to go.
Last year he had a hip, and that caused him issues. This year, he's ready.
I still have hopes for Ryan Merritt, but I think that he's hurt.
I like this Alexi Ogando, who pitched for us tonight. He's more of a starter, and I think that he has a real future.
I am also really interested in a kid we have in AAA. Neil Ramirez is a guy who has banged around the Minors for a while. He's 28, but man, he has 23 K in 13.1 innings this year. I think that he'll get a look this year, as well.

Tough loss. Yankees have a good lineup (and a bright future)
Tribe can probably get the next two based on pitching matchups though

Indians acquire Oliver Drake from Brewers for cash considerations They need bullpen help, and Drake technically is in the bullpen, so... By Matt Lyons@mattrly May 5, 2018, 10:21am EDT The Cleveland Indians have acquired relief pitcher Oliver Drake from the Milwaukee Brewers, per MLB.com’s Jordan Bastian. Drake was designated for assignment by the Brewers on Monday after posting a 6.39 ERA in 12.2 innings. Drakes results haven’t been great, but it’s easy to see what the Indians might be hoping for here. The 31-year-old has a career 25.3 percent strikeout rate and he’s kept the ball on the ground 52.9 percent of the time. If you can do those two things, generally, you can work out as a reliever. Unfortunately Drake also gives up a lot of line drives, but rarely does he ever give up home runs; he’s given up zero in 2018. Walks have been Drake’s biggest killer, but luck has also played a huge part in his struggles this season. His BABIP is .400 in his limited action, and his xwOBA again is a full .033 lower than his actual wOBA against. Meaning, based on the launch angle and exit velocity of opposing hitters, he should be inducing more outs than he has to this point. Maybe I’m grasping at straws here, but the Indians have nothing left in their bullpen and they’re only send some cash, so it’s hard to be upset. The move will require a 40-man roster move, however. Considering Alexi Ogando pitched yesterday and looked awful at it, maybe it’s him? Is that experiment over already? We’ll likely find out in a couple hours. https://www.letsgotribe.com/2018/5/5/173...-considerations

Sounds like we need help, they got someone, but we're still in need of bullpen help.
Please come back Miller...
Hoping for a nice game by Trevor. A quick start could help him get into his zone quickly. When he heats up, he's pretty fun to watch!

Lindor needs to get his head out of his posterior. Two games in a row he boots routine ground balls and it costs us runs. Yankees have scored 4 runs on 1 stinking hit. Bauer didn't help himself by walking 3, but Lindor's error was a killer.

Francona: Miller's bullpen went well Saturday. Slated to throw off mound again Tuesday. Puts the lefty on target for activation on Friday. https://twitter.com/MLBastian/status/993145898891907072

Mike Clevinger sets Yankees down in order in the sixth -- punctuated by a strikeout vs. Judge. He has 9 K and 1 hit allowed through six shutout frames.

Tribe has been stinking it up lately, quite a bit. What is the fix for the team? i don't get to watch them being almost universally blessed with Reds coverage in the paper and TV. The pitching seems to have fallen off, if not apart. We bat weird too.

A few Bob Uecker quotes: “I came up to bat. Bottom of the 9th. Bases loaded. Two outs. I looked over at the other dugout. They were already in their street clothes.” ”My career highlight? Walking in the winning run in an inter-squad spring game.” "The best way to catch a knuckleball is to wait until it stopped rolling and pick it up." Mr. Baseball is still alive.

We've always been a team thats relied on pitching because our offense is average at best. Our lineup scares noone outside of maybe Jram. Keeping guys like kipnis and getting rid of bruce and not bringing in enough bats if you are going to let pitching go is what has hurt us. Hopefully when it gets warm consistently the hitting will come around and be there most nights. But I think you have to trade for a couple quality BP arms, dangle a tomlin or salazar if you have to

There were reports that we tried to trade him this past off-season. It takes 2 to move a guy, and you can't just cut a guy for salary relief in MLB.

As if Tomlinson has any value. maybe a team needs a new guy to throw BP, or make the all star weekend as the pitcher in the home run derby...hed just have to pitch his normal stuff
