I probably watched everything on Nick that's on YouTube and I'm so happy with this pick. I dig this kid's style. I will say, I can only recall one screen play/pass of any sort in the video I've watched, but this was told to me by people here. He's a runner, but maybe he just wasn't asked to catch a lot? IDK anything about their scheme there where he played in college and won't even pretend I do.

But yessssss, I dig this pick a lot. Him and Hyde combo with the change of pace Duke coming in... it sounds like a steak and a cold beer on a beautiful day combo.

There was just the one dump off pass in the second video I posted and he made a pretty nice gain out of the play.

Nick Chubb is not going to be a guy that you flex out as a match up, but in the flow of the offence he can provide an option if used as such.

Georgia did not use him in the passing game much (13 rec), but he showed pretty good at the combine and his pro day they had him running wheel route's tracking and catching the ball over his shoulder although he had never been asked to do such and looked a little out of place in so doing, he made the receptions non the least.

I doubt we will see him running many wheel route's in our offence, but he can be use in the same way as we used Crow. thumbsup

I think that he has the strongest lower, of the RBs' in the Draft this year.

That program down in Georgia gets RBs' ready for the NFL.

Sony Michel only had 5 receptions in 2017

http://www.espn.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/3128721/type/college/sony-michel

So clearly, Georgia didn't do much passing to their Rb's

I think that Chubb will be solid as a receiver. I don't see him getting a tn of opportunities down the field, but I think that he'll be very good in the screen and short outlet game.

and that is Chubb has quick feet, especially for a RB of his size.

Yes there were several Jamal Lewis references on draft day!

Mark Richt was on 92.3 yesterday and said his pass catching is underrated and that he has pretty good hands.

I’ve re-watched 5 games so far .... 4 total passes thrown his way ... *L* ...

They were all quick swing passes to the flat very quickly after the snap ... none even to the LOS .... not much to learn from 3 catchable balls even if they weren’t all 10 yards away ... *L* ...

One of his catches his body including shoulders and head were square to the qb (short sideline so he got square) ... parallel to the qb about 10 yards away ... ball was thrown chest high ... he caught it with his hands out front ... PALMS UP dawg ... thumbsup

Looked very natural to me ... it was one of two .... *L* ...

One was thrown out in front of him so he had to use his hands ... no other way to catch it .. very easy catch ....

The third one was a true swing pass where he was still “running the route” ... that ball was thrown into his body as opposed to out in front of him ... he could have easily let it into his body and just caught it that way ... he used his hands and caught it with them and tucked it in very smoothly and seeminlessly ...

Obviously not much at all to go on ... it does leave me with some hope for him ... he looked natural and smooth ... theres a chance he has “soft hands” and can catch ...

I’ll let u know what i see in his the other 10 throws he had his way after i see them ... rofl ...

No my friend you are correct ... thumbsup ... sometimes it calls for palms up! (with the ball striking the fingers first.)

Such as in over the shoulders receptions. wink

I am not too worried about Chubbs ability to catch the ball.

No, he isn't going to be running wheel routes any more than Kevin Mack ran wheel routes. Kevin would be another good comparison to Chubb in running style. Chubb might be 10 lbs heavier.

He will do just fine on swing passes and screens.

I think it's a work in progress, but not something anyone can hang their head on and don't think he can/will improve. Sounds like he worked at it there. Our RB coach, Kitchens was a TE coach too when he first started. Worked with Jason Witten and etc. Hopefully he can help Chubb in that regard IF we even want to use him like that.

Not sure how you think he was bad. Georgia doesn't really throw to their backs. They run them, or hold the in for passpro.

Like I said, he isn't going to be Duke Johnson. Zeke Elliott isn't known as a great pass catcher.

If Chubb get targets, he is going to catch them. I don't see him dropping 1 of every 4 catchable balls thrown his way.

Is this just nit picking by the Barkley crowd?

We have a damn good back here. What gives?

I never said he was bad. I've made it well known I'm on board with this pick. I was just making a comment about the people getting down on how many little catches he's got. Kid worked at it and he has a good environment to improve it here with Kitchens and Duke in the room.

We may not even care to throw it to him at all period, even if he can catch the ball as-is...

All's cool man.

This time of year the threads start to run together and there are a number of posters who expect all of our picks to be perfect players.

The HOF is full of players who weren't perfect players.

Well to be fair, the HOF is not really the HOF anymore, more so the hall of above average players.

(I'm assuming your question was for real.)
First step; copy the URL of the video.
Second step; open the reply window in the 'Full Reply Screen'.
Third step; immediately above the text entry box is a series of icons, the 5th from the left kinda looks like a TV screen. When you hover your cursor over it, it says "Enter a media tag." Left click it and it gives you 4 options. Select 'YouTube Video.'
Forth step; paste the URL you copied in step 1 into the box and click 'OK'.
You're done. You can now say whatever else you want to say in the text box.

Can't wait to see him run for us. Frankly, I didn't think we'd take an RB this high. Chubb was a good one to get. Now that he's back to pre-injury form, he's going to be a blast to watch. Just the type of back we needed.

I wouldn't run out and buy his jersey yet. Word is that once camp starts, he may offer to buy 27 from Matt Dayes.... or may wait to see if he gets cut.

Good call on the jersey ... I think that you can probably expect Callaway to want #81 if it becomes available too.

What number is Ward waiting on? 21?

Trent Thompson, (yes I think he will make the team if he is finally healthy.) he may want #78

So yeah, the numbers are somewhat fluid until after the final cuts.

I hope we are able and willing to pound teams on the ground with Hyde and Chubb. We need to run the ball way more than last year. More runs and more play action to the TEs. Keep our defense fresh and healthy.

I just want a winner. We need players who can be part of the solution not part of the problem.

Chubb as a freshmen was one of the best backs i have seen, right up there with Hershel Walker. Since his injury he was a good back but really never wowed until probably week 9 or 10 last year and we started to see a lot more of that explosion. Browns took a shot on him with a big role of the dice. I wouldnt have done it because there were safer RB picks, but they swung for the fences.

It does take some players a full 24 to 30 months to heal from a complete ACL. I have to remind myself of that when judging this kid. He was running well but you watch him vs Ky and Oklahoma and he is just a different back than he was just a couple months earlier.

The Browns have a lot of faith in their medical staff and their evaluations. They seem to have trusted Chubb's knee more than Guice's knee and ankle.

I thought that he damaged just about everything in his knee except the ACL. superconfused

Yes i remember them saying he would have been better off it he had torn his acl. Fact that he didnt suffer any nerve damage is the big one. Anyway if u watch the kid the media were saying he was 100% first year back and to be honest, he just never really started looking like the old chubb until the end of last year.

You started seeing the big brekaway runs, the slick cuts.

All I know is the kid is medically healed and the process is over one year in the healing. We also have a pretty darn good RB in Hyde that will limit the work horse reps for the kid to continue his healing from that bad injury.

Key here is flow of the Offense. Last year we actually were middle of the road in NFL for Offensive plays per game. Hmmm maybe Hue was not that bad of a coach. But we have to increase that and have success early and often. Yes we can be big hitters but on top of that we have to control the ball. Sustain drives (thank you Landry wink ) and to win games become efficient in the Red Zone.

Can't wait to see BM in a successful Offense with great decisions and accuracy. Of course lets see what TT can do as well.

Trying not to get too excited. Cause as we all know imagining these things happening does not always come to fruition.I am not as kool aid as you all think. My feet are on the ground. I expect the positives but understand the process! This time though we actually have the talent for the first time! there I go and get excited again...lol a no no of course. Don't be a Homer don't be positive. Show me the link...lol laugh
