Promise Kept: Donald Trump Announces Decision to Withdraw from Iran Deal 8213 by Charlie Spiering 8 May 2018 President Donald Trump announced his decision to withdraw from the Iran deal on Tuesday, keeping his campaign promise to end the agreement reached by former President Barack Obama. “This was a horrible one-sided deal that should have never, ever been made,” Trump said. “It didn’t bring calm, it didn’t bring peace, and it never will.” The president announced his decision in a speech at the White House in the Diplomatic Room as Trump’s National Security Adviser John Bolton, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and Vice President Mike Pence looked on. Trump signed a memorandum to end the deal, reinstating the nuclear sanctions against Iran originally put in place by the Obama administration. “America will not be held hostage to nuclear blackmail,” he said. advertisement Trump’s decision signals a major blow to the Obama administration’s signature foreign diplomatic agreement reached in 2015 with the rogue regime. He described the deal as “decaying and rotten” and “defective at its core” recalling it as a “great embarrassment” to all American citizens when it was signed. “A constructive deal could easily have been struck at the time,” Trump said. “But it wasn’t.” He denounced the Obama administration for sending billions of dollars to a “regime of great terror” including vast sums of cash. He denounced Iran for using that money to further sponsor terrorism and violence in the Middle East, pointing out that the regimes military budget had grown 40 percent since the deal was reached. “At the heart of the Iran deal was a giant fiction: That a murderous regime desired only a peaceful nuclear energy program,” he said. “Today, we have definitive proof that this Iranian promise was a lie.” Trump repeatedly trashed the deal during his campaign for president, describing it as a terrible deal that should have never been enacted. At the White House on Tuesday, he said he was determined to keep his promise made to the American people. “Today’s action sends a critical message,” Trump said. “The United States no longer makes empty threats. When I make promises, I keep them.” Key allies in Europe face their own decision of what to do with the deal whether or not to keep the elements of the deal intact with Iran, choose to reimpose sanctions, or allow it to die. www.breitbart.com/big-government/2018/05...draw-iran-deal/

He was actually discussing the potential of a North Korea deal while announcing the withdraw of the Iran deal.
Politics aside, Trump is truly one of the dumbest people on the planet. Absolutely no object permanence.

He denounced Iran for using that money to further sponsor terrorism and violence in the Middle East, pointing out that the regimes military budget had grown 40 percent since the deal was reached. I love how obvious it is that Trump clearly has never even understood the basic parameters of what the deal entailed. His only knowledge of it is that Obama did it, and has just repeated the "FOX & Friends" criticisms of it ever since. He denounced the Obama administration for sending billions of dollars to a “regime of great terror” including vast sums of cash. He denounced Iran for using that money to further sponsor terrorism and violence in the Middle East, pointing out that the regimes military budget had grown 40 percent since the deal was reached. He *just* sold the world's leader in terrorism $110 billion in arms. There wasn't even a negotiation or concession. They put his face on a building and he got giddy and said "whatever you need" Here's my question - is he aware of the hypocrisy and doesn't care? Or is it just chalked up to sheer obliviousness and parroting what Brian Kilmeade said?

Another ironic thing about all of this - and honestly this is absent of Trump, because any Republican president would've done this...but the reason Iran really began rearing its head up militarily in all aspects was because the biggest thing to keep them in check got lopped off by the Iraq War.
I'm not really a fan of much Obama did, but I did like the Iran deal. It left a lot to be desired on a human rights scale, but it was probably our best diplomatic effort in my lifetime.
In the end, this probably won't change very much, as it looks like the E.U. and China have no intention of backing out.
We'll be cut out of the loop on other diplomatic fronts. Probably going to see some slightly higher oil prices for a spell, and it really puts the hamper on any future compromises.
For no other reason than Trump got mad when "FOX & Friends" said Obama shouldn't have done it.

This Ends Now! Trump Slams John Kerry on Iran Deal Negotiations: 'You Are Hurting Our Country'Former U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, who led President Obama’s efforts to broker the Iran nuclear deal, is under attack again from U.S. President Donald Trump. Trump tweeted early Tuesday morning, "John Kerry can’t get over the fact that he had his chance and blew it! Stay away from negotiations John, you are hurting your country!" Shows you the arrogance of the previous administration. Negotiating behind our backs.

Hmmm, didn't they say the same thing about NK? Do you know what the most powerful tool in a negotiation is? Any salesperson should be able to answer this.
OK I'll give a couple of hints;
1) Trump said you have to be willing to do this. 2) Fear of loss is greater than the desire to gain.

Glimpses of what they think is going on are truly fascinating.

Well I guess Vers was right when he posted in a QB thread about how many QB's couldn't adapt to being under center....nobody is interested in an educational post.
Remain ignorant folks.
Trumps speech today and pulling out of this deal is straight out of any sales book. Zig Ziglar, Tommy Hopkins...oh whats the use.

Trumps speech today and pulling out of this deal is straight out of any sales book. Zig Ziglar, Tommy Hopkins...oh whats the use. He quite obviously has no idea what the Iran deal entailed, and never has. And that was clearly a speech written by Stephen Miller, the creepy weird kid who writes all his speeches, with some splashes of John Bolton. You're not going to find much cunning or strategy from a vacant dimwit whose opinions are often formed by the last person he talked to. He's the easiest pushover in the world, and leaders are scrambling to get in the room with him for the same reason everyone in New York real estate used to - he's a dullard chump you can fleece just by complimenting his tie. Like the Iran deal or hate it - Trump quite obviously has no idea what it entails. He's been parroting what he's heard about it on "Hannity" the last few years. Read the quotes above - they're clearly unintelligible as to the reality of the deal, and he apparently seems unaware it even involves other parties.

Actually quite brilliant. no it isn't. it's beyond stupid, and sends a clear message the US can't be trusted at their word.

He's literally been parroting what "Fox & Friends" and "Hannity" said for years, since the deal was first signed, and you're convincing yourself it's a brilliant strategy. Just like you convinced yourself that a trust fund simpleton who spent his life setting money on fire was some kind of business shark.

Let's assume you are right. This has nothing to do with the framework. We can agree to disagree that this deal is bad. you're convincing yourself it's a brilliant strategy. LMAO, you have no clue what the strategy is. An FYI, this strategy is commonplace in the sales world and it frickin WORKS! The amazing thing is, you have yet to ask what it is....remain ignorant.

a draft dodger has no idea what strength is, and its clear his negotiation skills are about as useful as a degree from Trump university.

Full compliance? Like I said we can agree to disagree on the deal. I'm so confident that Iran will come back to the table before Trump leaves office we can place a wager....you decide the amount.

Trump just signed away the leverage he had to get other things done. Iran has zero reason to come back to the table.

yes he just did. now he has zero leverage, and he's losing our allies (networking) in the process.
