Justin Blackmon was good tho Coleman could be, if he tried hard enough. I'm not sure he has that in him.

Why would they? They would get nothing for him and he's on a rookie deal. That makes sense to me.

If Calloway and Gordon can stay on the straight and narrow and Landry is himself - we could very well not see Corey anyway, even if he's healthy and still on the team. Plus, if we were shopping him, it would've went down before the draft or around there. I don't see anyone offering anything above a 6th rounder for a kid that's just fragile and still virtually raw.

If it were up to me, we'd keep Coleman for a few reasons:
1. He's still very young. Basically, he's the same age as some of the rookies this draft. 2. He's been injured. It's tough to tell his potential yet. 3. He's had awful QB play. 4. This should be a year in which he improves (plus, he has WEAPONS around him) 5. He's still on his rookie deal 6. We won't get anything more than a 6th rounder IMO.
Now, if he sucks in TC or shows no improvement .. then, yeah, cut/trade him
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Do you have a source on that? I didn't really mean it as a knock on him, but more as a feeling that I have about him. I watch the guy and I don't see a guy that is going to be the main guy. He doesn't seem to put effort into his route running, he doesn't seem to fight for the ball, and he doesn't block when someone else gets it. A lot of WR's are like that. I think that it is one reason why so many WR's take a few years to adapt to the NFL. They are so used to putting in little effort and getting by on athletic ability. Even with all that being said, I could still see him being a Torry Holt to another Isaac Bruce on the team. We really haven't had the QB in his short time to test if he could be that type, but I don't even see the effort in his go routes. Separation is one of the easiest things for a WR to learn when you are the faster player. Just get that DB to keep moving his hips and you will float right past him. Now granted, the kid has been banged up on a bad team with bad QB's and I could be entirely wrong about him and the coaches could see a workout warrior on the practice field and the limited action that we've seen on TV doesn't reflect. But this is still the kid that missed curfew along with Kenny Britt. This is the kid that was at least in the room when his buddy beat a guy senseless in another late night incident. His nose isn't in the playbook late nights. He's out having a good time. It's not going to get easier for him in Haley's system either. It's going to get harder. WR's have the toughest job to learn in the playbook. I hope I'm wrong and he's either already putting in the effort or he figures it out this year. My impression is that he is only a step above Gilbert though and I'll at least give him credit for waking up on time.

But the good news is now Coleman isn't expected to be "the guy" (or even the 2nd guy). He may fit better as the back end option

Do you have a source on that? On Cleveland Browns Daily, Zegura was saying that Coleman got in trouble a few times with the old regime for slacking off and that he seems to be working harder this year due to Landry's mentorship. Hope he can salvage it. The kid has MASSIVE talent, but lots of players quickly learn that's not enough in the NFL!

I agree, it doesn't make sense to trade him unless someone offers a trade that doesn't make any sense for them to offer or us to turn down. This is Colemans make or break season. He has flashed enough to give you hope but injuries have hit him to hold him back. Might as well ride it out for 1 more season at this point.

yep, this is it. He probably even has to show commitment and improvement in TC

Lets wait and see what he looks like with a real QB.. None of our receivers had a chance last year to do much of anything. Dude would have had 750 yds last year with the Pats or Steelers. Do you guys remember last year when Kessler played. He's pretty damn accurate. WRs were catching balls all over the place for awhile. It didn't last but it looked exciting when it happened.

It stopped when other teams saw he couldn't challenge you deep. His lack of arm strength was painful.

So! This is what was holding Kenny Britt back? He better find a better gear this year.

Agreed. He has had how many QB's in 2 years throwing to him, 5,6? Let's see what he can do with a real OC and a better QB situation.

In the past 2 years the Browns have had Whitehurst, Kessler, RG3...
McCown, Kizer, Kessler again, Osweiller, and Hogan.
They pretty much replaced, Johnny Manziel, Austin Davis, and Connor Shaw, (Thaddeus Lewis?), who were here in 2015.
And they are all gone in favor of the current group of Tyrod Taylor, Baker Mayfield (BRM), Drew Stanton and Joel Stave of course....(Stave is now gone in a roster move after about 7 days, may be back, you never know)
Drew Stanton?, ( " You mean Mike Stanton wasn't availbale?") " Giancarllo Stanton?" "NO!, Who! ?" Mike Stanton? (google search)
Mike Stanton born June 2 1967 was a former left handed relief specialist in MLB who enjoyed success over his career most notably with the Atlanta Braves and NY Yankees. " That's the guy."
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

If Coleman learns to catch the ball. Learns to run a route and can go 16 games without pulling a hammy or breaking a bone along with not havig his posse beat someone up, he could be our best receiver. Not sure about his posse issues,,, but his problem isn't that he can't catch, it's that he keeps getting injured..

I am quite sure that Stave was brought in strictly to throw in the 1st rookie mini-camp.

I don't think he could be better than Gordon, Gordon is about a perfect specimen if you were drawing a receiver and handing it to God to create. Coleman could be a great #2 or 3, but I don't think he's good enough or durable enough to be a #1. He was always a boom or bust coming out.

I wasn’t a fan of the pick. Personally I think any WR under 6’ has to be reeeeaally special in college to be taken in the top 15 or so of the first round. To me he wasn’t that special. He’s proving to be about what I expected as a receiver. Injuries aside I never thought he’d be a true #1. I questioned his ability to be a dynamic #2. I figured he’d end up in the slot. Sucks we spent such a high pick on him. In my opinion you take guys like AJ Green, Julio, Calvin J, etc in the top 15 of the draft. Big bodied, sure hands, athletic, etc. Not a guy that you hope you can maybe one day make into an Antonio Brown, or Steve Smith. Bad pick for the draft slot. Period.

Coleman is on notice. This is sink or swim year for him.
If he doesn't play considerably better this year his future in football will go dim quickly.
Honestly I never saw much in him to begin with.
So play better or leave.

I agree that he's mighty injury-prone so far, but I am also always prepared to read that Gordon &/or Callaway are gone. Amen.. Until Gordon and Callaway have done a little more to prove they are going to be available... I don't see the point.

They knew they couldn't re-sign him They could but they would only resign him on the teams terms, so they would not overpay him. I don't think they viewed him has a #1 WR, and they had options for #2 and #3.

There is a lot to like about Corey Coleman so far. I don't want to hold his injuries against him, I think he is reliable, would want 4 of him over 4 of the others,
I think it's a better team with Corey Coleman than without, and at least given a chance to compete.
I mean, there may be reports the Browns would trade him for the right offer, but this is Not the worst guy on the team at his position, I hope he stays.
