Years ago, NBC's 'Dateline' was very different than it is today. It was quite a light newsmagazine back then. A regular feature was called 'dateline timeline.' Just before commercial break, the viewer was given 2 news items (1 hard news, 1 pop culture) and a hit tune from that year. The viewer was given 3 consecutive years to choose from, and had to guess the correct year.

I was pretty good at guessing the year, because my brain is hardwired for music, particularly like your connection with this tune.

I clicked on it, and within 3-4 seconds said: "1986." Googled it.
Pow.

This one isn't because I'm so great; it's because Hornesby put his stamp on that entire year.

Great submission.

New album by Shinedown “Attention Attention” is really good. The first song “Devil”, really good.

Anybody been to The Agora Theater in Cleveland? Daughter and me are thinking of going to a concert there in September, Parkway Drive. Is there plenty of parking, plenty of room inside, stuff like that.

Man, I used to go to concerts at the Agora on Euclid. Great venue, although we did get jumped trying to buy tickets at the intersection right before the club.

I thought the place caught on fire in the 80s and closed. Am I mistaken?

It was on E 24th, IIRC. We went to some concerts back in the late 70s and early 80s, and then it burned down.

I think it might have reopened on Euclid.

I seem to recall that it was a pretty horrific fire, that had some opining that it might have been set.

I was an extra for the "one trick pony" movie saw the b52's do rock lobster 12 times that afternoon. Was on break sitting at a back table someone lit one up. the cameraman next to us said I dont know if you should be smoking that in here. We said relax this is the Agora. He waited a little bit and said can I have some?

I always enjoyed Marty Balin's vocals with Jefferson Starship.

Here's another good one.

I love the five Jefferson Airplane albums, but with exception to a couple early Paul Kantner/Slick solo records I never got into the Starship.

I got to meet Jorma Kaukonen a couple times back in the late 90’s. Cool guy. Amazing guitarist.

I believe that Jeff Lynne is one of the most underrated musicians and composers of our time.

He was a great runningback for the Oilers all those years. Makes sense he’d eventually retire and write a football song.

Actually, so did I (w/Country Joe McDonald) at Ruby Tuesday's in Columbus. If memory serves, I think that bar was on Summit St. This would have been '88 or '89.

Jorma lives in SE Ohio. Has a place called the Fur Peace Ranch. He does lots of small shows and musician workshops down there. With that he can gig easily in CBus. The band I use to work for opened for Hot Tuna once, and him solo acoustic another time. Both at Chelsie’s on High Street. Sadly Chelsie’s is no longer open. Too bad. Use to be a great place to catch stars on the way up, or stars in the twilight of their careers.

Spent an evening with her baby sis about 10 years ago.

She was surprisingly versatile, with a truly varied repertoire. And still had all that hair.

Talented family, for sure. Patty Loveless is a cousin of theirs, as well.

*EDIT*

I just re-read this post, and thought I should specify that our time together was spent making beautiful music together... oh, wait- that isn't helping to clear anything up, is it?

"Flamin' eyes of people's fear burnin' into you
Many men are missin' much hatin' what they do
Youth and truth are makin' love, dig it for a starter, now
Dyin' young is hard to take, sellin' out is harder"

Proto-funk... before Funk was a codified genre.

Energy.
Pocket.
Forward momentum.

This is as stank as it gets.
