NFL bans on-field kneeling during the national anthem
-The National Football League changed its policy Wednesday to require league personnel to stand for the national anthem. -Players must stand "and show respect for the flag" if they are on the field. -If they refuse to stand for the anthem on the field, their team will be fined.
Here is what the players who want to protest should do. Go out and salute the flag during the anthem. Make a statement to the press this is to show the respect for the flag and the service men and women that protect it but not for the injustices in america today. They will get their same message across in a different way. Same Message! not hidden away in a locker room. What will the NFL do then tell them they cant salute the flag? Or stand arm in arm, Just dont sit in a locker room.
I really don't care about their messages or political views or what beer they drink, I don't even play Fantasy Football because I would pick all Browns. I don't even care about the NFL, just Browns.
What I care about is their playing good football and winning games like I enjoyed in the 60's, 70's and 80's.
I think mandated Patriotism makes things much better. When you force someone to be what "some believe" is Patriotic, I get a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
All those owners who went and took a knee too... hypocrites. I understand this decision was made out of greed, but as a Vet I never once viewed it as an insult to the flag or veterans. Trump and the right made it about those things to defend their racism, period.

Nazi crap there. OOps! Did I say Nazi? I meant NAZI.
The right is racist and Nazi's in consecutive posts. Good Job, definitely doesn't sound hysterical far left rhetoric at all. Christ, don't make me defend them!

You do you. If you don't like my words, don't read them... that's what freedom is all about. Or have you lived in the Trumplodyte world so long that you forgot? Don't normalize this behavior.

Don't normalize calling people racists and Nazi's with zero evidence.....oh crap

That video clip is funny. Sad that you think of the left like that.
I don't cry or lose my mind over Trump. I just think he is terrible for America and stands for NOTHING I believe in. He is a con man, period. His administration is a heist, period. History will prove me right in the long run, until then I resist.
As far as calling people racists and Nazis, all they have to do to stop me and others from doing that is to stop acting like racists and Nazis.
I don't think the left is like that, it's just what I'm reminded of when I see someone calling everyone a racist they disagree with and everyone a Nazi when they don't like their opinions.
I've been harping on this for a while, that having a civil discourse is the only way to affect change. Don't cry when it doesn't change and you're part of the problem.

You are preaching to the choir. But you simply can't reason with most Trumplodytes because they are to busy trying to defend their decision to vote for him. I don't through "Nazi" around too loosely but in many case with Trump, it's the best word.
This thread isnt about Trump. Its about the NFL....
It's about the NFL buckling under pressure created by the POTUS attacking another business from the Oval. NFL, Facebook, Amazon... they've all been hit now by the POTUS.

No, its really not. The NFL did this because they were taking a financial/repuation hit. They dont want a bunch of negative drama swirling around them, and becoming the focus instead of their product.

I thought the left loved it when government "protected" us from companies, and stated that was their job?
NFL - well nothing to really protect so to say, but their ratings were down and this was a problem for them before trump entered in.
Facebook - they have many problems of their own, and need to be reeled in with some oversight. I am glad someone is standing up against them.
Amazon - same thing. They want billions in tax breaks, while promoting they are left leaning company, yet don't want to pay the taxes they should and want benefits like never before seen.
it's just what I'm reminded of when I see someone calling everyone a racist they disagree with and everyone a Nazi when they don't like their opinions.
It's the quickest way to derail and shut down an honest debate, everybody knows that. Somebody says something you don't like, call them a racist or a Nazi.. immediately takes the conversation to the basement level of intellect and they either try to defend whether they are a racist/Nazi or they go to that level and respond in kind.... it's easier than having difficult discussions about grown up issues....
And that kind of name calling kills damn near every thread in this forum...
For example, there is a tradition in many newsgroups and other Internet discussion forums that, when a Hitler comparison is made, the thread is finished and whoever made the comparison loses whatever debate is in progress.
Unless somebody is legitimately planning to conquer the known world or exterminate millions of people.. in which case Hitler references should be allowed.
We won’t ever know until someone is actually put in position to have that much power.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

Malcolm Jenkins says he will not let the NFL's new national anthem policy "silence me or stop me from fighting" ... saying the owners are "[thwarting] the players' constitutional rights."
The Philadelphia Eagles star never took a knee during the anthem -- but did raise his fist -- and has been very outspoken about players like Colin Kaepernick having the right to protest if they so choose.
Liberal media outraged after 'racist' NFL adopts ‘un-American’ policy to combat national anthem protests
CNN’s Marc Lamont Hill urged all players to remain in the locker room. The CNN star added, “The worst part is that we’ve just accepted the idea that the national anthem has to be sung before each game as an article of faith.”
NBC News star Chuck Todd said the policy feels like a “band-aid that won’t stick.”
“There’s just something that feels un-American about forcing folks to abide what is, well, the league’s own politics,” Todd wrote.
Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina wrote, “I have a stupid question: If the NFL and its racist owners are going to penalize a team 15 yards if a player kneels during the anthem, what happens if players from both teams kneel?”
Balko’s Washington Post colleague Max J. Rosenthal thinks Americans should skip the national anthem altogether. “Just a reminder that if we stopped playing the anthem before sporting events, we wouldn't ever have to argue about this again,” he wrote.”
