From an outsiders perspective on the two 2-6 teams in the AFC Norris Division I see a huge difference. The Steelers have proven that they are a bad team, and after yesterday I have to believe that they are a bad team getting worse. The Browns on the other hand are a team with a bad record that I see on the verge of turning it around. For the Browns fans I think you have to be encouraged by what you're seeing even in defeat. Yesterday they gave the Chargers (a VERY good football team) a tough fight.

I stick to my prediction of a month or so ago, the Browns are about to become a contender. It really comes down to the Browns learning how to win, and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. I think the Cleveland turnaround has begun.

Appreciate your optimism but we are still MANY pieces from something special. Pitt has FAR more pieces than we do from the OL to their D, they have just been playing badly.

I kinda agree, but disagree with the two of you. Sure Pittsburgh has beat themselves, but they've also lost some of the key players they had in '05. I see the Browns playing above their talent level, and think they're just a couple of pieces away...

eh... No. I meant Norris Division... It's a Chris Berman-ism. He refers frequently to the AFC North as the "Norris Division". It's his reference to the old Norris Division in the NHL.

But! The Chuck Norris Division does seem like a spot on analogy as the AFC North teams do seem to beat the he!! outta oneanother from time to time.

Actually, he used to refer to the NFC Central as the Norris Division in reference to the old Norris Division in hockey that included Minnesota, Detroit, and Chicago as did it's NFL counterpart.

Yes and he also did it because the NHL's Norris division was terribly weak, as was the old NFC Central.

I have to disagree with ya bro.

When I watch the Stoolers, I see a pretty good team playing bad football. They're making too many mistakes and turnovers. I can see them ending up with a decent second half of the season if Toothlessburger can get some brain cells to regenerate and make better decisions, but that remains to be seen.

On the other hand, when I watch the Browns, I see an average football team who is starting to look decent since Mo is gone. The defense plays solid, even with all the injuries, but at times the offense can't move the chains which keeps the D on the field too long. They have too many injuries, especially in the secondary, to be expected to play any better. Hell, I'm surprised these CB plug-ins are filling in the way they are. Which leads me to believe the coach's style and schemes would be that much better when the talent is actually on the field.

regardless, i can't wait for these 2 games with the steelers, equal playing ground, they are as bad as we are, this may not make headlines on espn or anywhere else, but this is going to be some emotional, smack you in the face football, i seriously can't wait

beating the steelers could turn this year around in terms of being excited, it would give the fans something to cheer about, they've been hearing it too long from steeler fans about how their organization is so greatly run, and this and that, and we're going to show you on to run the ball, and blah blah blah

You're right. The Browins may be similar in record as Pittsburger, but they have loads more talent at EVERY position then we do.

If Rufflebrain gets his noggin' thinking straight (and confidence back), that team will be hard for anybody to beat.

i hate how there are certain teams that he just has to use the old john facenda voice (the raiders, steelers, and packers come to mind, dude can't say lambeu field without having to make himself sound like a dolt)

i don't mind the espn crew though, you take michael irvin with a grain of salt, jaws has a very annoying voice, but he has great insight on the x's and o's of the game, tom jackson and steve young are great, and adding ditka is great, he's absolute gold when you get him fired up about stuff like terrell owens and celebrations and all that, he's an old school guy and you have to love that...

and mortensen is probably the best inside guy in the nfl, without question...

Um... yesterday your Browns handed the media darling Michael Vick his hat... and I put my money where my mouth was and picked the Browns to win outright.

I wouldn't want to be Cowher & Co. coming into Cleveland this week. I'll put my money where my mouth is again. Browns beat the Steelers in a squeeker... we'll see.
