JACKSON, Miss. -- New Orleans Saints starting left tackle Jammal Brown was injured in practice Tuesday and was carted off the field. Trainers appeared to be examining his right knee.

The injury occurred during a contact drill during practice. The Saints had originally been scheduled to do a walk-through Tuesday, but Saints coach Sean Payton was unhappy with their play on Sunday night.

Brown stayed down for about 20 minutes before being taken off the field in a cart.

No details on the injury were immediately available. Payton was expected to talk to reporters later Tuesday.

Brown was drafted in the first round out of Oklahoma, 13th overall, in 2005. He started at right tackle as a rookie and was moved to left tackle last season, when he was selected for the Pro Bowl.

Brown was part of an offensive line that allowed only 23 sacks in 2006, fourth lowest in the league. Coming into training camp, all five starters were expected to be back for the 2007 season.

Sad situation... I loved the kid out of college and wanted us to draft him... Hope that it is nothing serious...

One part of the game, i'll never get use to, sad to see it happen every year, Makes one wonder how players like Bruce Matthews, & Clay got thru season after season without any season ending injuries.

Hopeing for the best for Jamaal

It always happens to someone around this time of year. Let's hope we aren't next

I think the Saints might take a step back this year. They might even miss the playoffs.

I hope he's alright. Losing Brown would be a HUGE blow to the Saints... he really stepped up his game last year too...

I know what you mean... Might as well throw Big Ted into that list also...

Sucks for the Saints and Jamaal... He is the lifeblood of that O-Line...

Oh I don't know..maybe because he's trying to win the RT starter spot????
Why would we ship him out now?

we would loose the line we just built and because of that... there is no way I want a trade.

IMHO
