No popcorn, but I did bring my instigating helmet today.

You're welcome for that lesson btw. But here's another one, if he says "right wing nuts" and then "you people", if you're not a right wing nut, the statement doesn't apply to you.

Good for ABC.. owned by Disney.. they got the press they wanted. This is the same outfit that owns ESPN who put Rush Limbaugh on an ESPN show about the NFL and then went all "SHOCKED" when he said something controversial and forced him to resign.. now they bring Roseann back and put her in this highly political show and get all "SHOCKED" when she says something controversial and then cancel her show...

Getting known lightning rods for controversy, putting them in a position to be controversial, then acting pious when that controversy happens seems to be a pattern for this group... but in the end, Disney/ABC/ESPN gets to come out of it looking like the good guy... congrats, it worked again.

Roseann is a dumbarse and what she said is just completely wrong.. but you will never convince me that Disney/ABC didn't suspect that this would happen.

Here is a simple but difficult way to approach the issues.

People do not like to be categorized by race, nationality, religion, or political beliefs. People are individuals that do silly things.

The moment that you go there in your opinion, you have already lost the argument.

Individuals do dumb things and believe in some crazy things, but it’s their right to believe in whatever they want to, and not because of their race, nationality, religion or political beliefs.

People are individuals that do not like to be categorized. Yet everyone wants to do it.

Impossible to defend. Just pure idiocy. If you're looking to promote any political stance, doing something like this is the dumbest thing imaginable. Never mind that it is definitely racist, it's just the most idiotic thing you could do, literally giving them exactly what they wanted. A reason to confirm their own biases (all MAGA is racist) and a reason to cancel your show.

Maybe Roseanne and Breitbart will collaborate on a Youtube Red series. Or even better she could be on Fox News were she can say whatever she wants and get fast tracked for a cabinet position.

Ok, but saying the far right doesn't like Muslims or gender confused people isn't stereotyping. That's factual based on hella imperial evidence. Also judging people based on their ACTIONS is a reasonable thing. What's unreasonable is judging people on their RACE.

Also, Roseanne's tweet stereotyped her as a muslim terrorist and called her a racial slur. She hit both of your checkmarks, so it's really not close at all.

There's that broad brush again. Personally, I really didn't like jarrett. I thought she was constantly pushing a muslim brotherhood agenda. I have met muslims I liked, disliked, and a few I thought should be investigated. I understood one afghani that told me several times that he'd kill a Russian on site, but it's still wrong.

As for the ape thing, she should have just claimed her account was hacked like so many liberals have done when they get caught spouting racism.

I personally dont really let it bother me when a comedian says something that goes too far, especially knowing that is why that person is . I thought it was over the top and is not something I would probably say but I really couldnt care less what roseanne has to say

Decent comparison. I think it took about 48 hours for cnn to fire griffin. How long did it take abc to fire bar and the entire production team? Was that within hours? I didn't check the times in the tweets.

ABC is a bunch of Hypocrites. While I agree Rosanne's comments was offensive and she should have been fired for tweeting what she did.

Why did ABC not fire Jamele Hill? She was offensive. How about Joy Behar of the view she has been offensive more than once. She is still employed.

First off, I'm a strong Christian born-again Believer. And I voted for Trump (actually voted more against Hillary and he was the only true option).

JH - Called Trump a White Supremacist. Since he had a discrimination lawsuit on one of his father's properties, racial bias is a part of the left's knock on him, even though he was buddies with Jessie Jackson and many other civil rights leaders back in the day. Frankly, I think Trump has done a TERRIBLE job connecting to this community and can't seem to get out of his own way in terms of racial bias. He could have and can be doing more to overcome this perceived bias. And I think he's a snooty New Yorker that will always have a hard time identifying with minorities (and vice versa) because he's never had to understand plight or even being truly broke.

He does stupid stuff like Golf w 3 white dudes on MLK day and either has TERRIBLE advisors on the optics or doesn't care. Just like yesterday, he tried to honor the fallen for Memorial Day by touting the economy and his supposed accomplishments. Just simply a bonehead move. He has a golden opportunity to run this country with majority in the House and Senate. Yes, there are SOME cards stacked against him in a Liberal press but who has ever fought the mainstream press and won? Ever? Liberals just don't like him and I can't really blame about half of the vile pointed his way as his attitude is so off-putting. There is a way to play nice and his limited emotional intelligence just doesn't enable him to play nice with folks who oppose him.

They should have fired her for getting political when her job is to report sports, however, when those that run the media have a viewpoint that aligns with the person making the statement, she's going to get a bit more of the benefit of the doubt.

Joy Behar - She said Christians who hear Jesus have a mental disease. As someone who has heard Him, I know plenty of fake Believers or Believers who are deceived that hear voices. One could argue there are some mental issues with quite a few of those folks. Now, I don't agree with her, but I can totally understand how a non-Believer would mock an evangelical, Spirit-filled Believer as being a bit crazy. Her comment was not racist but was anti-Christianity.

Roseanne - Her statement was just stupid and it brought religion in with a stereotype that has been used against African Americans for as long as I've been alive (40 years) and likely MUCh longer. She just walked right into it. Maybe her editor and Trump's editor on Twitter are the same idiot? There are already SO many on the left who have been calling her a bigot. She opened her mouth and it cost her and her show. Shame because her show, like her or not, represented a very accurate snapshot on this country's dynamic as MANY families have some members with differing political views.

And I thought Limbaugh's firing along with the Hank Williams firing were a load of crap. Rush didn't say anything that was inaccurate or at least worthy of a conversation. Hank is a known bigot and you don't fire him for a VERY true simile. There wasn't anything racially/religiously wrong with his statement.

I for one am tired of all the anger and vitriol. People are people and they say dumb things. We could all be a bit more understanding of one another but also should be a bit slower to rush to judgement; however, we are going the opposite direction and I'm afraid it's not going to turn around anytime soon.

GOP strategist Steve Schmidt:

"What we see as this vile conduct by Roseanne Barr, it's not a joke. It is a stone cold racist statement by one of the most prominent public supporters of a racist president, who time and time again has shown us his true colors and not for the first time at Charlottesville. When he lectures the country and he says there's good Nazis out there. The one thing we should all be clear on, despite ideological differences, there are no good Nazis. Not there, not here, not back in those days, and certainly not in these days. We see the stirring of the race caldron by this president, part of a deliberate strategy to incite his base with conspiracy theories, with dishonesty, with lying, with race baiting. He is stirring up every worst toxin that's been buried in the ground in this country, bringing it back to the surface, and he's doing it on purpose."

I find irony in the fact that on the day that Starbucks closes to conduct anti bias training is the Day that Roseanne shows why it is needed.

They are now called RINOs. Moderates on either side don’t stand a chance, but they are probably the majority of Americans.

On the left I'd say it's 50/50 progressives and moderates. The right I think moderates are a dying breed. Most of the Reagan Republicans are either old or dead.

I just wonder what the GOP will look like post Trump?

Ok but the left often uses this tactic... Y'all respond to a post by a specific person by bashing the far right and using the "you guys believe..." etc, then when called on that generalization and asked to clarify you use something like this...

Are you far right? Are you going to pretend that they're not anti-islam?

It's a very passive aggressive way of accusing somebody of being a racist/bigot/"far right" person without actually having the stones to call them that directly. It's like, I'm not going to call you that, but y'know, if you have some these opinions, well then maybe you need to reach that conclusion on your own...

That's not at all what happened and it saddens me that you read it like that. I was literally told that I was stereotyping the far right, and I just wanted to clarify his position of him trying to call me out for stereotyping. Also, I wouldn't passive aggressively call someone a far right winger, I'll actually call them on their crap. That's why Haus and BpG put me on ignore and vise versa because I do not mince words. If I wanted to call this climate denier a far right member, then I would have. I didn't because I wanted to know how he could say I was stereotyping the far right, when I was simply reporting their politics.

Quite frankly whining about possibly being called "far right wing" after saying someone's policies were "supporting the Muslim Brotherhood" is why it's so hard to have a genuine conversation with the Cons on this forum, because they lack empathy to relate to the other side while not possessing enough self-awareness to realize they just tried to call someone a terrorist.

What makes it painfully ironic is how Cons on this forum always claim something to the right of HW Bush as "liberal", even though they constantly use it incorrectly. Now they want to complain about possibly being labeled a 'far right wing'. Again, there is very little self-reflecting with Cons.

Roseanne does have a documented track record of crazy. Not the god fearing crazy either. It never ceases to amaze me how the GOP sheep and the evangelicals continue to support the racists in our society.
