So I’m sure that atleast 80% of you know how to read, so I’m not gonna post the entire article. But please do read it.

On one hand, I understand trying to reduce the trade deficit. On the other, this only gives more ammo to those who believe trump dislikes our allies and embraces strongmen.

Let’s not pretend that the Europeans aren’t gonna impose new tariffs in retaliation. Let’s also not pretend that the cost of steel and aluminum isnt gonna go up. This will make some products cost even more than what they already are.

Then on top of that, the trump administration is looking into whether European auto imports threaten national security?

What?

Meanwhile, the market is already dropping this morning. Yay for trade wars.

America is not looking to get ahead, America is demanding a level playing field for all trade.

Also, who cares what others think of President Trump?

Trump constantly talks about "winning" trade deals.. I'm pretty sure he doesn't define "winning" as fair or level...

Yea, that sucks... should have thought about that for 8 years before him when you didn't seem to mind whatever angry, hate-filled things were said about the President.. Stuff like that, in this country, comes full circle faster than a Ninja blender...

Well, we are currently losing by nearly a Trillion dollars per year to the unfair, unlevel playing field as other Nations have tariffs and steal our tech when it comes to trade.

The level playing field would be a victory.

Not really. We have a trade deficit because Americans buy too much stupid crap that they really don't need. Just spend a few hours observing at a mall or at walmart on any given weekend. Walmart especially.

You'll see people spending money just to spend money because it feels good. And one look can usually tell you whether they seem the type to have a savings nest egg or are living paycheck to paycheck... but man they need their trinkets and sparklies.

I'm not saying we all should live spartan existences but if your butt hangs a foot off both sides of the power chair shopping cart, maybe the cakes and sodas should stay on the shelf. And taking your kids shopping to buy them something that they weren't even aware of until the impulse hits them at the store; well you are not teaching them a damn thing about being responsible with their money or yours.

That is part of the equation but I see where Japan doubles the price of a Harley as soon as it hits their shores.

There are many examples of the unlevel field.

I can see where we cut China some breaks as they joined the world trade community and we allowed them to grow, but they have arrived now and it is high time to level the field with them too.

I have no issues with those things, but it's ridiculous to think our entire deficit is caused by them. Americans are wasteful, very wasteful.

Cramer: Europeans are in 'over their heads' on trade because they've never seen anything like Trump

-"The Europeans don't know what to do. I think they're a little taken by surprise," says Cramer, referring to the tariffs on Canada, Mexico and the EU.
-"Whatever the Europeans are doing, they are confused because they've never seen anything like this president," he adds.

BMW’s largest auto plant in the world IS LOCATED IN... Spartanburg, SC...and produces approx 450,000 vehicles per year.

BMW’s largest plant in the world – Spartanburg – will produce 450,000 vehicles every year

News | March 9th, 2016 by Horatiu Boeriu

In 2015, BMW announced the expansion of its Spartanburg plant. The $1B investment is scheduled to complete this year when the South Carolina-based factory will begin producing 450,000 vehicles annually – up from today’s 350,000 units. Last year, it built a record 400,904 vehicles — topping that of any of its factories in Germany, BMW says. More than 280,000 crossovers made in Spartanburg were exported.

“We are very fortunate that … years ago, the company decided to go to the United States and build a plant at a time when everyone was withdrawing,” said Ludwig Willisch, CEO of BMW of North America for Automotive News. “It was not only a brave move, but it shows how right the move was. It is a big, important footprint for us.”

The North American plant was born in 1994 and the first American-built BMW to roll off production line was a 318i. Over the years, the plant became home of nearly the entire X family of crossovers. Today, in Spartanburg, BMW builds the X3, X4, X5 and X6. BMW’s largest SUV to date — the X7 — will join the others in 2018.

Last year, BMW Manufacturing Co. said, the export value of the vehicles it made in the Spartanburg plant reached $9.8 billion.

Spartanburg has produced about 3.3 million vehicles since 1994. BMW has invested $6.3 billion at the site since 1992. It has a daily output of about 1,400 vehicles.

This plant currently employees 8,000 and with the addition of the X7 line will increase employment to 8,800.

We want to keep the immigrants out, our biggest source of low income labor.

We want the market to set the floor for labor costs but we want the working poor to be self-sufficient and pay more taxes.

We want the rich to pay less and less in taxes but we want to spend trillions on infrastructure, military, healthcare, and education.. all while reducing the debt.

We want "high paying" manufacturing jobs but we also want inexpensive goods and services for ourselves and to be competitive for export.

And I want a unicorn to poop a rainbow path in front of me as I walk down the street...

With Baby Boomers set to retire in droves, the U.S. will need a steady flow of immigrants to keep its workforce growing over the next couple of decades.
Without immigrants, the total U.S. workforce population -- those ages 25 to 64 -- would fall from 173.2 million in 2015 to 165.6 million in 2035. Enjoy!

Accepting immigrants into the US is the only way the US will be able to grow its population. The trend of millennials not having children will only worsen. Only the most brain dead millennial girls are talking about having children before the age of 30. Most want to have only 1 child too.

Even though you're correct, nativists quake at this thought.

The problem for them is that after 400 years of fleeing bigotry, oppression, famine, etc. the European migratory wave is pretty much over. Folks who live there want to stay there now. And yet, we still have that gal in NY Harbor with her torch of promise shining out to others who are now facing what Europeans were trying to escape. Others. You know, yellow, black and brown people. People from- what did our POTUS call them? Oh, yeah... those places.

This is nothing new. In fact, it's simply the most recent incarnation of the same old immigrant policy we've always had:
"Thanks for letting us in. Now, let's roll up the welcome mat and lock the door."

Not all Americans believe this, but the most vocal ones of late do.
As do some at or near the top of our power structure.

"too many notes, not enough music-"
