Where did I state this..." yet you are also opposed to funding any meaningful programs that could help these children lead decent lives?
You made it up.
I asked you a fairly direct question if you were ok with kids being kicked around the foster system or not being provided for, you gave me a non-answer about proper birth control or being fixed so you can't have kids... so yes, I assumed then that you don't care if they are kicked around foster care or have a chance at a decent life and you don't care to fund such programs.. if they aren't yours, then they aren't your problem. I will continue to assume that is your position unless you tell me otherwise...

If you want to believe that, that's on you. After all you made it up yourself.
That's your fault for trying to keep it on topic. To truly pull a Vambo you must ask him why he supports drug cartels and terrorists as a supporter of US foreign policy.

Meanwhile, our children our killing others and themselves in record numbers.
Mostly by using legally owned AR-15's by a lunatic or a child with mental health issues.
The attitude of "thoughts and prayers"... "now is not the time" ... "guns don't kill". is a much better approach.
I do NOT appreciate you only using one sentence of my post and turning it into something it was not. I have never said thoughts and prayers or guns don't kill. I am not a fan of the GOP.
I'm saying that your side is stupid! I'm saying the other side is stupid! Neither of the sides want to address the real problems and instead want to make this a battle of simpleton intellect.
You and Vambo both live in this Country and work in this Country and enjoy your rights in this Country, therefore...
You both benefit from past slavery and Genocide.
You are making the assumption this country couldn't have been built without slavery and genocide. I would argue that it would probably be very different without them and in a lot of ways, it would probably be much better now had we not gone through that to get to where we are.

The only thing I am assuming is you would have been happier if the terrorists had crashed those planes into the twin teepees.

Well, I was about to sort of come to 40's aid, but then he went all "Trump Tweeting on a toilet at 3am" on me..
I will say though DC, that what 40 said is what is often said by those who argue for the existence of white privilege, or why slavery is still a relevant issue today, or as a bolster to address inequities between the races. It's stated by the left as an unequivocal fact.
I just find it interesting that when it's used by the other foot (yes, even a foot with a big toe as swollen as 40's) there's all of a sudden a nuance to the issue.
"Hey, I'm a reasonable guy. But I've just experienced some very unreasonable things." -Jack Burton
-It looks like the Harvard Boys know what they are doing after all.
I don't think it gained nuance when 40 said it, but I think people were more willing to explain the concept. I don't think 40 misused the comment at all.
I would argue that it would probably be very different without them and in a lot of ways, it would probably be much better now had we not gone through that to get to where we are.
Alas, we will never know if your supposition has merit, for we are only allowed references to a past that we actually forged for ourselves.
_____________
Speaking only for myself, I can safely and confidently attest to my support of your suppositions, but I can only do it from a personal perspective. I have no reliable frame of reference that might allow me to project My Family's heritage upon the whole of the US in the early 1800's, because My Krew were pioneering, forward-leaning social outliers for their times.
My Family's Town was a socially progressive enclave that welcomed Blacks (Freedmen, Free Men of Color and escaped/emancipated slaves), Whites, and First Nation Peoples equally. They helped to found one of the very first US secondary/professional/trade schools for all races and both sexes... and they did it decades before the onset of the Civil War.
Those who were part of this community/school established a social advantage over the lion's share of fellow OH/IN citizens, and have gone on to serve as Civic Legacy Leaders in their respective communities and professions. America's first Black congressman- Hiram Revels- was educated at the Union Literary Institute, product of the community My Family helped to establish.
The progressive sociologist, human rights activist, and civil rights pioneer W.E.B. DuBois noted this community in his treatises about the fortunes/potential of American Exceptionalism as realized through The African in the American Existential Experience.
My guess is that your supposition is probably correct: that we as a nation could be further along in 2018, if America looked/thought/acted more like Clemmy's Longtown forebears did in 1848- but I can't actually claim that as a certainty... because the only American Reality we can reference is one that we actually wrote.
A reality that fails far below the ideals My Krew was already setting - 30 years before the emergence of Southern secession and Gen. Robert E. Lee.
Because America's True History is an Underground Railroad of individual stories like mine- patched together in defiance of and living/thriving just beneath the Ground Level of America's Prevailing Narrative... I can say confidently say this:
America's dtory may have always been whitewashed... ... but She has never been clean.
Would your family be here if slavery never existed ...
i’m just curious ... i’m not going where some will take it with that question ...
I can't answer for Clem but I can offer my, more general, opinion on that... it's impossible for any descendant of slaves to know if they would be here if not for slavery.. but at the same time, my guess is that if blacks had felt welcome here through the 14, 15 16, 17, 18 hundreds, that many would have found a way to come here voluntarily for the same reason the white Europeans did.. for opportunity, to escape their own oppressive governments, or just for adventure...

This should be an interesting conversation.
I dont want to make an assumption as to what direction you are going with this , so I will let you go there.
But my thought is that slavery was a major part of our history as a nation , so in actuality if it have never happened it would have changed the course of history and none of us would really be here . Different people would be here. Its the butterfly effect. One little ripple in time turns into tidal waves. Its kind of a deep concept and I am not sure if I can explain it better without the help of mind altering substances that I no longer use.
You may be in the drivers seat but God is holding the map. #GMSTRONG

Don't use me to further your dumb ass agenda.
So your side is the smart side? The side that sticks their heads in the sand and calls everyone else's policy stupid. LOL, got it Vers. Actually I knew that all along

Clem, I had promised Swish a PM which I had not yet written so I will say in advance, this is most of what I had planned to say...
I've watched several movies lately including but not limited to Hidden Figures, The Debaters, and Birth of a Nation.. all good movies, all very powerful in their own way.. but collectively they got me to thinking about this...
It's a shame.. as you said, it's a shame that can't be undone, it can only be corrected going forward, and it boggles my mind why some are so hell bent on resisting it..
When I see these selected stories of what some blacks accomplished in this country.. fighting uphill all the way and against serious, often violent, resistance.. one cannot help but wonder where we would be if we would have embraced them (and this same thought process applies to both black and white women as well).. yes the kids from the debaters went on to do great things, yes the women from Hidden Figures did great things.. but how many were unable to ever be recognized? How many brilliant and talented people never made it over the hump or found just that one opportunity to show what they could do because they were relegated to the status of undeserving of the opportunity?
How many great minds did we squander because we didn't think they were worthy of even a decent education? or worthy of a job that could use their real skills? or worthy of being treated like.. well, people?
You can take stories like your ancestors little town and extrapolate it out.. and it's not hard to theorize that if you took the MILLIONS of blacks that were brought here (or would have come here voluntarily under different circumstances) and their descendants and gave them equal opportunity to education and equal opportunity to compete for jobs and equal opportunity to embrace their God given talents, whatever those might have been.. and if the same opportunities had been given to the half of the population that wore dresses and wasn't allowed to vote or own property or compete for all of those same jobs... I'm pretty comfortable in saying that we can't even begin to fathom where we could be right now..
Then you take all of the time, energy, and resources white people devoted to perpetrating hatred and racism.. take all of that away and put it to productive good use.. take away the hundreds of thousands who died needlessly in the Civil war and put that to good use... take all of the money spent building separate schools and facilities and put it to good use...
My God Clem, it's not a greater linear growth that we would have achieved, it's exponential... as accomplishments would have been recognized earlier, advancements would have been achieved sooner.. and greater accomplishments would have been built on previous accomplishments.... For whatever accomplishments we have achieved over the last 500 years, we are light years behind where we could be...
So then the obvious question (well, obvious to me) that arises out of this is... 200-300 years from now... what will our future generations think about us? I have no doubt that they will look back on the turn of the 21st century (which thanks to technology and social media will be fully documented) and think.. yea, they did some good things but they wasted a tremendous amount of time, resources, and human ability bickering and fighting over absolutely stupid crap that just didn't matter... imagine if they had put all of that energy to good use...
DC, yours are questions I've been asking since adolescence. It's a series of questions that I wish more would contemplate. Even if we never found answers, I'm certain we'd be better off as a society for having simply asked them.
Would your family be here if slavery never existed ...

I will not be answering your question.
I will no longer be engaging you in conversation of any sort at this web address.
You have proven time and again that you are a person to not be trusted. Your character suggests that any time spent conversing with you is time wasted on a lost cause.
Going forward, I'll thank you to act as if I do not exist. That is certainly what I'll be doing where you are concerned.
In chilling cellphone videos released Wednesday, the suspect in a February massacre at a Florida high school announced his intention to become the next school shooter, aiming to kill at least 20 people and saying “you’re all going to die.”

I would have been banned if he asked me that question and I were you. No class whatsoever.
