Collins is already back on a limited bases in practice and Hue seemed pretty confident he'll be full go come training camp when asked about Collins in his last presser. I wouldn't worry about Jamie's health. Plus Genard Avery Heck yeah man!

Well, there is an article towards the bottom of the previous page that I think Grateful Dawg posted that addresses the subject in case y'all want to read it.

Genard Avery. Haha. I absolutely think Avery will tear it up on STs and in no time, will start to see some snaps at LB'er as regular season progresses. Easily one of my favorite picks and IMO, a huge value where we got him.

After U posted Collins could end up the odd man as opposed to Schobert in this situation ... it made me think of the contrast in talent and work ethic of those two ....
Collins has all the talent in the world ... could be as good as he wants to be ... classic underachiever ... then U have Schobert ... he gets every single ounce of production he possibly could out of his athletic ability ...

I think we agree both are candidates to be replaced by Kendricks. That doesn't guarantee either will, but I get the logic for both opinions.

I do think I understand the logic of considering who will get cut when someone is signed.
There is a 53 man roster in the NFL. When you add one, one leaves. The amount of players kept at each position is usually pretty much the same unless you switch from a 3-4 to a 4-3 or vica versa. Exactly. It's not like I don't like Tank Carder or James Burgess, but we're limited by roster size. In today's NFL, when running a defense with predominantly two DE's and two DT's, you're limited on how many LBs you're going to carry. Especially with how often you have to run Nickel because of how offenses are run nowadays with three and four receivers being the norm Dominique Alexander, a linebacker, was on the regular season roster at least at some point for each of the last 3 years, He was waived/cut earlier this offseason after failing a physical. Kendricks can take his roster spot, everybody else is still fighting for the same spots as before.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

from that list, if we keep 6: Collins, Schobert, Kirksey, Kendricks, Avery, Burgess
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

All I can say is that we will have some real position battles this year.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.

I never understand why when we sign a player that makes a unit better, either by that guy being depth, or him being better than the starter and making the starter depth, do people want to negate that by releasing someone else? I would get the contract argument if we were close on cap,, but we have plenty of cap space for the time being and Right , I get that signing Kendricks will mean someone will lose a roster spot. I am just saying why would people think that roster spot would come from the top of the depth charts? It should be the bottom man is gone. Which surely isnt Jamie Collins I was the one who mentioned Collins, so allow me to explain, since you have questioned my logic and Memphis said there was no common sense in my thinking. I wasnt directly questioning your logic, there were several who said that they thought collins may be gone. I do think this could put Collins on the hot seat as far as playing time, but it could also be about him not being healthy. I just dont think it would make any sense for us to release him.

I'm like an oracle, lol. They knew the team wouldn't have space for Tank Carder. Better off cutting him and letting him try to catch on somewhere else where he stands a chance to make the roster before training camp starts. Just the way it goes.

Yeah, it sucks but it is part of us getting better and better as a defensive unti. I liked Tank a lot , but I tend to root for the overachievers

I told you your post made so much sense! It's like the Front Office should just...... hire me. That, or even better, just let me get a weekly segment addressing the fanbase via some sort of medium (Podcast, video).

Excellent pick up and he is the LB that I have seen over the years as THE BEST bar NONE cover LB. Good guy to have around and mentor our young LBs on coverage skills. Assume he still has his legs to provide us with vital coverage from his LB spot!

I like Tank Carder. Guy played w/a lot of grit and toughness. Big-time overachiever who is handling things w/class.
Much admiration for those character traits.

I have been thinking about grabbing a handful of posters from here and doing something like that (a podcast). I think it would be a ton of fun. I like it. My wife has always told me that I need to start a blog or podcast. We know other people who've been successful, and she thinks if they could do it, then I definitely could. Not trying to go into sports journalism/media of some sort is something I've always regretted. When I was 18 I should have worried less about, what I thought were, unrealistic career choices. She tells me to go back to school for it and that we could make it financially work, but I just don't see it working out. I've got a good job and it's a big risk to give up so much of what I've achieved so far. I got close, when I was in Chicago, to applying to Northwestern's Graduate Communications/Journalism Program. I probably would have gotten in, as I was a very good student in a decent undergrad college. But at the time, she was making 25k$ a year as a Research Assistant at Northwestern Univ, and I don't think she realized what an effect losing my significantly greater yearly income would have done to our lifestyle. Anyway, I'd definitely be interested in a podcast.

When I was a sports admin major and a coaching intern part of my responsibilities was to coordinate with the sports media dept for getting players and coaches to press conferences, radio/tv interviews, photo shoots etc. SO I got to know a lot of the sports media people at the school and interacted with them a lot . One thing I learned though , is when you take something that you really enjoy and turn it into a job it loses a lot of the enjoyment that stuff had when you are just a civilian . It becomes a business instead of a leisure activity.

Mychal Kendricks is the 14th player with at least four years NFL experience added to the Browns’ roster by GM John Dorsey in less than 90 days.
In essence, Dorsey has conducted his own expansion draft to populate the roster with needed experience. This will do more to change the culture of the Browns’ losing locker room than a symbolic organizational cleansing in Lake Erie.
Dorsey has blown up the bizarre, kiddie-corps rebuilding plan of the ill-fated analytics era of the previous two years. The New Browns Order has been replaced by an old-fashioned roster philosophy – get as many “real” football players as you can.
