I think this has turned into a discussion more based on whether some feel a religion is correct or not , and I dont think that is really what it is about . It about people right to their religious practices but where do those reigious practices interefere with others civil rights ?
I still see both sides viewpoints and really dont have an answer .
I guess I would say gays should support business' that support them and their lifestyles

For a True Christian, abiding by God's Will and God's Law is important.. It is not bigoted to live by God's Law. Homosexuality is a sin and therefore the True Christian does not want to promote it in society. The government must not force him to sin.
The godless heathen will do as he pleases with no thought of right and wrong, good or evil. His beliefs are based on "Feelings". He is answerable only to himself. I would have absolutely zero problem with that if a baker kept to those beliefs.. but I'm willing to bet they aren't turning away second marriages... or those who have had sex prior to marriage.. or those who have kids from other people... or those who are just downright nasty greedy bastards getting married.. or any of that. Foolishness. The Baker does not know any of these things about a customer who says, "Bake me one of your wonderful cakes". The customer who walks in and says bake be a wonderful cake and decorate it with Gay, second marriage or adulterous themes is most likely going to be shown the door or told, "I will bake you the wonderful cake and you can decorate it yourself. So you were a big fan of Bill Clinton's "Don't ask, don't tell" policy I assume.. As long as the Christian baker is profiting from remaining ignorant, then I suppose it's ok.

I feel like its a Pandora's box either way. If they ruled in favor of the couple, who's to say the government cannot force a business to do other things as well, against their religion? Personally, I think if a business does not want to do business for someone that is their decision. They just cut off a significant amount of a client base, thus resulting in lower sales. Because that person is going to tell their friend and 0 others on average. Commerce will sort it out.
But the fact this was 7-2 decision, tells me that the baker was just in his decision. As two liberal leaning judges sided with him as well.

If they don't want to be a part of any sinful ceremonies, I would think they would want to know at least some basic details... To say that they wouldn't want to know is to say that they are ok profiting from sinful behavior as long as they selectively remain unaware of the actual truth...

A baker doesn't know what you do with your life until you ask him to bake a cake with porn on it, or a Gay couple kissing, or a statue of Satan. Then he knows and has every right to say no to your request. It is the LAW of the Land. You suggesting he interrogates each and every customer before hand is just silly.

I am kind of mixed on this one
On one I hate any form of discrimination, While I do consider myself Christian, and do believe homosexuality is a sin, I am very much against treating gay people differently for their sins. Because let thou who has not sinned cast the first stone.
But on the other hand I am a libertarian who believes in peoples right to make their own choices, including when it comes to religion. Would we make a Muslim shop owner serve bacon?
I dont know, its one of those things I see both sides and am not sure I really have a clear answer Gay people are fine and dandy, a good Christian hates no one. Gay sex is a sin and a good Christian will not promote sin in our society. Would you go to a Muslim butcher to buy Bacon? A Jewish butcher to buy Pork? A Christian baker to buy a Gay cake? Not if they say no, it is against my religion to do such things. Huge difference here man. What exactly is a gay cake? Pork and bacon exist while there is no such thing as a gay cake.

In arguments before the court in December, Justine Anthony Kennedy, the author of all the court’s major gay-rights cases, worried that a ruling in favor of Phillips might allow shop owners to put up signs saying “We do not bake cakes for gay weddings.” Isn't it just as plausible that signs will go up saying "We DO bake cakes for gay weddings"? I have to admit that I think they got this right but I am concerned about the broader precedent it sets in the times in which we live... Put up the bigotry signs and they'll all avoid the law suits and they'll lose customers doing it. Yep, it's the times we live in. Murica! For instance, is it wrong to not bake a cake because you're homophobic and don't like gay people? Why yes it is wrong. Apparently it's not illegal. But it is wrong. It's called discrimination. These bakers have probably baked countless cakes for gay people without realizing it. Nothing but homophobes.

Too bad you don't like it. We answer to a higher authority. What is a gay cake??? Cakes can't be gay. They have no sexuality. This is a fact. It has nothing to do with what I do or don't like. You're wrong. Tell me, where in the bible does it say that being gay is a sin? Maybe the moral people in the world would rather people be happy and who they are, rather than be unhappy pretending to be something they're not. If my sons told me they were gay, I'd say "Ok cool, I'm happy that you know yourself, and can live how you want to live."

I guess I would say gays should support business' that support them and their lifestyles If we take religion out of the picture, then you just have a business owner who doesn't like gay people and refuses to give them service. Which is wrong, but not illegal. Same thing happened in the 60's when black people couldn't be served at restaurants if the owner of the establishment didn't want to serve them. When you take religion out of the equation, this is exactly what you have. So these so called moral Christians are using their religion to mask their prejudice and bigotry. It's simple, and a big reason why I don't like religion. (Caveat- I know plenty of people who are religious and believe in god and who are totally cool with gay people. They are the good ones.)

A baker does not know it is a cake for a Gay event until the customer requests Gay decorations on that cake. So he can bake cakes for Gays without ever knowing, this is true. It really isn't about the cake but the decorations and writing on said cake that gives it a theme. The baker has the right to refuse the theme when it is against his religion. He didn't have that right before this SC decision. The decision is not anti people, everyone sins, it is about not promoting Homosexual behavior which is a sin. The baker is not going to promote any sinful behavior on his cakes.

Ever hear someone say "Oh man, that's gay" as a descriptive way to describe something they find dumb or are against? There ya go. It's like that. It's about as cool as calling something "Retarded".

The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term: "Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)? Support your answer with a proof." Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle’s Law (gas cools off when it expands and heats up when it is compressed) or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following: First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So, we need to know the rate that souls are moving into Hell and the rate they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let’s look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there are more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all people and all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle’s Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand as souls are added. This gives two possibilities. 1) If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose. 2) Of course, if Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over. So which is it ? If we accept the postulate given to me by Ms. Therese Banyan during my Freshman year that "It will be a cold night in Hell before I sleep with you," and take into account the fact that I still have not succeeded in having sexual relations with her, then (2) cannot be true, and thus one can be sure that Hell is exothermic. The student got the only A. https://www.albany.edu/faculty/miesing/teaching/assess/hell.html

so when people start using their religion to justify racism, does this ruling fall under that? They'll use the curse of Ham/Canaan next... Just disgusting that we even have to debate this in 2018. The court got this wrong IMHO. And disgusting little men like 40 jumping in joy for the win prove it.

Would you go to a Muslim butcher to buy Bacon? A Jewish butcher to buy Pork? A Christian baker to buy a Gay cake? A Muslim butcher doesn't sell bacon to anybody, Muslim or not. A Jewish butcher doesn't sell pork to anybody, Jewish or not. A Christian bakery bakes cases.. just not for gay people.See the difference? From what I've read about this story, that's not the case. The baker offered other selections in the store, but didn't want to make a gay-themed cake. If he outright refused to serve a gay couple, then yeah, I agree that's discrimination. The media seems to be pushing the narrative that now people are free to discriminate based on race, sexual preference, etc, when that's not what the supreme court decided at all. They concluded that you can't be forced to make a product that you fundamentally disagree with, which I hope all people would be in agreement with. If a Muslim t-shirt printer was asked to print t-shirts that depicted Muhammad, I would hope that the government wouldn't force him to do so. If an atheist print-shop worker didn't want to print "Jesus Saves" pamphlets, then he should be permitted not to. If a Jewish wedding photographer doesn't want to work a wedding that falls on Yom Kipper, etc. If any of those guys refuse to provide services to gay, Christian, Latino Republicans, then yeah, it's a problem. TL:DR: Refusing any service to a person of a specific group = bad Refusing a specific service to a person of any group = okay.

Too bad you don't like it. We answer to a higher authority. everyone does. its called the all mighty dollar. thats why your boy made a video asking for people to pay for his 50 million dollar jet. in the name of god, of course. I challenge you to find evidence that he asks people for 1 penny of that 50 million. He asks people to believe with him that God will provide 50 million for him to buy a jet. A jet that he uses to fly himself and other pastors all over the world to feed people, bring doctor's to areas that do not have doctor's, and to spread the word of God to all the world.

“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

I'm definitely a godless heathen.
And this is why we have Global Warming. There are so many heathens and Libs today that when they die... Hell burns hotter with all that fuel. I wish you'd stop calling yourself a Christian because you obviously haven't read any of jesus' teachings... Wow... I mean how much hate can you spew?!? It's like your celebrating people going to hell on some high almighty rock...
