The greatest hitter ever just broke the all time home run record...
Congrats Barry!
Joe Thomas made Justin Timberlake change his name. He didn't want wusses to have the same initials...

This accomplishment is as huge as Barry's roid-head.

The asterisk belongs on Bud Selig's tenure as commish. He and the players union allowed a steroid era happen. Bonds is no more guilty than another other player/pitcher.

I'm not a fan of Barry either, but as soon as I read that he hit 756 I ran through the dark house to find a TV. Flipped it on and caught his speech.
Steroids or no steroids, Barry Bonds is now the Home Run champ. Congrats to him.
I want the Cleveland Browns to be my pallbearers so they can let me down for the last time.

Yep
I had a feeling it was going to happen tonight... dude was locked on all game.
Glad he was able to do it at home and get the reaction that this type of record deserves.

I don't feel good at all about this. BB, McGwire, Sosa, all cheaters IMO.

He should throw it back... He'd never have to buy a beer again. Seriously though, some payday for him. Could you imagine the thought of seeing 756 coming towards you?

well it hit and boucned to the right... then there was a HUGE scrum to get the ball... once the Mets guy got it like 6 cops escorted him out... it was pretty amazing.

Congrats to Bonds.. I am a diehard Pirates fan and new Barry would be a hell of a player when he came up through the Pirate organization.
Do I think he took steroid, absolutely. That being said, who knows who else has done so. As someone said before, this is baseball fault and they let the steroid era happen. You can't put the money in your pocket and then ignore what was happening and they did.
Bud Selig should be removed for the way he has handled this whole thing. It was a disgrace the other night in SD when Barry tied the record. He looked like a little kid who was lost in a mall looking for his mommy..

It is a very impressive record for someone to break, but I can't help but to feel he cheated along the way. At least to me he deserves some big fat ***************.
Oh, come now, he used steroids, but he didn't know.
Barry Bonds, what more can I say, I just don't like him.

There are two events in sports, occurring in my lifetime, I've now never seen.
I've gone out of my way and can honestly say that I've never seen a complete play of the Super Bowl that the Rats played in. I skipped the game and whenever a single replay is shown I go out of my way to not see it.
Now I add Bar-roid to that list. I was watching Sports Center when they interupted for the Roidster to hit... I flipped the channel.
I can't honestly tell you if either of these events ever really occurred. Plausible denial.
If a tree falls in the woods and no one was around...?
I hope pitchers start throwing underhand to A Rod so he can take it back from HGH boy sooner rather than later.

Congratulations to Barry... I don't understand all the hate, I really don't. I just wish all of those hating on him realized how many players, in all sports, they've cheared their hearts out for through the years that were using performance enhancing drugs... I guess ignorance truely is bliss.

Tony Gwynn. I'm a Red Sox fan, and I'll still say that I think Tony Gwynn is the best hitter to ever play the game.

Well said. Most top athletes in this era push the envelope to get an edge. In the environment Selig allowed to blossom, that's all performance enhancing drugs were....pushing the envelope a little. From the congressional hearings, to Canseco's book, to the refusals to answer questions.....it's evident that it was practically an accepted practice.

the greatest hitter argument is just that personally I think Pete Rose is alltime hit leader has to say something.....
about bonds like him or hate this is HIS record congrats man.....
about the steriods wether or not he did or didn't do them is irrelevant seeing how HE NEVER FAILED A TEST OR BEEN CONVICTED so the record isn't tainted and there shouldn't be an asterikor anything else....

My reaction on Saturday was helpless, stunned disbelief. Like is this really happening? Am I really watching this? Last night, it's just flat-out hatred. It's not so much the steroids that bothers me as much as the fact that he's a jackhole.

I'm happy for Barry but pissed at timezones. I watched his first two at bats and couldn't stay awake any longer. Damn it! At least I saw 755 live. Quote:

I agree. He hit 755 off of a guy who was nailed for steroids himself. I couldn't care less and I hope Barry gets to 800. I hate A-Rod.

I suppose he'll go into the record books with the most HR's,,, and some will want an asterik next to his name because of the Balco thing..
For me, the record is forever tainted as is the single season home run record. And it's all because of this drug issue..
Sorry, I know I'll get beaten for it, but I frankly don't care about either of these records anymore. They are forever tainted in my eyes.

I am not so sure it is a sad day for baseball...Baseball will revel in this. What he has accomplished despite the circumstances is still a large feat. But since the record will stand without an astrisk....It belittles what Henry Aaron actually accomplished on his own....

A part of me died inside when I saw it happen, not gonna lie. As a child I was obsessed with home runs and hitting the long ball. McGwire breaking the record was one of the best things I ever witnessed. Then he basically admitted to cheating to a grand jury and part of be died inside. The same thing happened all over again last night.
