Slow time in the football year.
I was wondering about Mr. Gordon. Saw a little OTA clip with him catching a ball and it got me thinking.
We have a quarterback who is a middle of the pack type guy. He can do some things and he has won games.
The OL is at least decent. We have some RB's who should be better than average.
We have receivers Landry, Coleman, Callaway, Lewis, Higgins, and Gordon with some others there to compete.
We have Njoku, DeValve, Fells, and a couple of rooks to compete.
So there are guys to spread the ball around.
But Josh Gordon healthy with a full camp to be razor sharp. A guy who has gone through what he has to get back.
I can only dream what he can do as a mature, dedicated player in the prime of his career.
No receiver in professional football is more talented than Gordon. People can argue that but roll the tape on what this guy has done as a stoned out player.
This year we could be in for a treat. We may see what this guy can really do.
Even if in the back of our minds we fear the unknown. We may doubt that he can keep together. But to get this point he has done it.
Now maybe we can benefit and see Gordon at full strength.

Mature and dedicated stand out to me as huge IFs...
A nearly certain HOF career up in smoke... literally.
Hope he's on track to stay for reasons well beyond football.

Gordon actually gets to play with another top notch WR on the outside. He will still get doubled, but having actual weapons and a QB who can deliver accurate passes is gonna do wonders for Gordon.
Save injury, as long as he makes it to week one, I think he’s gonna have a big year.

I have more hope for Gordon than I have ever had. I never once believed him before. This time, it seems a little different. I wouldn't say I have faith in him staying clean, but I believe there's a decent chance of it.
I think we all know he is a special talent as WR. You say "the most talented" and I think some people might confuse that w/him being the "best." I am not so sure about that.
Yes, he has mad physical gifts. Tall, fluid, fast, athletic, large catching radius, etc. However, there are other things that go into making you one of the games "best" wide receivers.
As of right now, Gordon is not the route runner others are. He isn't as disciplined w/the route tree as he should be. He doesn't always give a high effort. He isn't a great blocker. His hands are good, but he does drop too many balls. Thus, I think he has a ways to go before we can say he is "the best" or even "one of the best."
With that said, he is a great talent and has the potential to be elite. He can certainly impact games unlike any skill player since our rebirth. I'm hoping he makes it this time and realizes his vast potential.

Maybe his hands and route discipline will improve when he’s sober on the field. Here’s to hope. I’m rooting for the kid.

Like you pointed out "most talented" and "best" are different.
Maybe having a child and getting older has sunk in. You don't get to play this game just because of talent.
But he has come a long way to get to this point. He slips now and it is game over.
So I am super curious to see what he can do.

This Callaway kid is supposed to be as good as Gordon, think about that... ... If Gordon wasn’t such a bafoon and actually even PLAYED IN COLLEGE he would have been the best prospect to come out since Megatron ... we took Flash in rnd 2 of the supplemental witch means we made him our 2nd rnd pick for the year after we drafted him ... and Josh didn’t pay a game in college for his last 2 years ... crap ... i think he may have only played one year in college .... What Calloway did wrong in college made him look like an angel compared to Josh and he lasted til when???? Flash is a FREAK ... he had the physical tools to be one of if not the best ever if he decided to apply himself and work ... he took a different route ... *L* ... If Calloway was projected to be anywhere near Josh ON THE FIELD he would still have went in rnd 2 at the latest ...

One thing I'm worried about with Gordon is that season that he came back without knowing the playbook.
Haley's offense is very complicated for the WR's to learn. Some really good WR's could never figure out how to play in the E/P system. He's going to have to keep his nose in the playbook to pick this offense up. He seems to be committed to do what he needs physically, I just hope that he does the same mentally.

I'm pretty sure he does do yoga as well. I think one of his recent twitter posts alluded to it.

We saw Josh give us one great "partial season" out of his entire career as a Cleveland Brown. I'm sure we all hope he can recapture that same level. It's been a while.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Saw him in Training Camp the year we drafted Johnny. He was a man among boys out there. He's just huge and towers over folks.
If he keeps his head out of his butt, he will be the highest paid WR in the NFL next year or the next. If he starts hot, we'd be foolish to not try to extend him on a long-term contract with contingencies to stay clean.

That would be foolish, nobody is going to risk on a player that is one suspension away from ending his career... He had half of a good season... still has a lot to prove.

Untrue...someone will give him a large, not huge contract with contingencies to stay clean.
4 year 65mm with 30 or so guaranteed as long as he doesn't fail a test and a few million up front.
This would be a safe play if we have an out if she were to fail a drug test.

He will be an RFA next year, so we can tender him with the highest tender, if he stays clean. (or franchise him, if we want) There is no need to worry about getting him signed long term yet, Let him prove that he has beaten his demons.

Just imagine being a 5’10” or 5’11” corner staring at that coming at you. If JG reaches his potential there’s not a defensive back in the league that can stop him from producing.

After that, we can use the franchise tag on him if we want. He's a ERFA this year and a RFA next year. We're the only team with rights to him.

He's a ERFA this year and a RFA next year. We're the only team with rights to him. If he dominates this year (big if), then we should probably sign him to an extension. We don't want another team dictating his contract situation. In other words, we don't want to slap him with a second round tender, a price many teams would be willing to pay for a not suspended Josh Gordon, and have someone Alex Mack us.

I just can't even imagine them trying to use press coverage on Josh. He ought to be able to pancake any DB that even tries. That alone should create space for him to catch balls galore.

I always thought if I were an NFL exec I would ask for blood testing at the combine if they were willing to submit to it. If Gordon is not taking PEDs (which is unlikely given how often he gets tested) that guys natural testosterone has to be through the roof. I'm talking on a normal range is 300-1100 the dude has to be AT 1100 to get that big.
Knowing how much test is in these guys at 20 years old would be immensely beneficial for projecting their success.
I digress, he looks great.

Hope you are right. Josh has several motivators-1) long time security for himself AND his family (however you define it), 2) his teammates- he owes them and city a non-drug inducted season. All indications are he's matured and doing the right thing- hope for him and us it continues....GO Browns!!!
