I don't know if Melky will survive Tito's man-crush for Brandon Guyer, when Guyer gets off the DL, but I know he was always clutch when he faced the Indians. He's not a star, but being a switch hitter makes him a better 4th or 5th outfielder than Guyer, IMO. But pretty soon they need to choose one out of three guys for backup corner OF jobs - Melky Cabrera, Brandon Guyer, and Tyler Naquin. They *might* keep two of them if Tito can stand to give up a bullpen slot. (I think Greg Allen sticks because he plays CF, at least until Zimmer finds his batting eye in AAA.)

OOPS! I forgot about Rajai Davis being in the mix, so Greg Allen could be a candidate to go back to Columbus. I'm pretty sure he still has options left to be demoted.

kluber is crazy

Indians recalled C Francisco Mejia from Columbus (AAA). It might be a short visit, because Roberto Perez hasn't been put on the DL yet. The Indians don't know yet if he'll be DL'ed because X-rays on his hand were negative, but he has a bad bruise that might keep him from swinging the bat. Since he's only hitting .130 this year, I'm not sure how they'll determine if he is able to swing the bat or not - but that's just me being snarky.

Is Neil Ramirez starting to show potential?

If he greatly reduces the number of batters he walks, he could be awesome.

His career stats are pretty good.

Except walks. He averages giving up a base on balls every other inning.
That's 4.5 walks/game. Can't win in the majors with that stat.

Hold your breath! This is often about the time we hit what we used to call the Tribe's "June Swoon" in our household. Hoped the Tribe might be able to overcome and minimize it, look more like other division numbers.

Wahoo! Go, Tribe!

Going into last night, they had won 11 of their last 15 games. You calling that a June swoon?

And the Indians are less than a year removed from their MLB record 22 consecutive win streak.

The most ever in the 115+ year history of modern major league baseball.

Most ever by any team ever.

We saw a major Cleveland Indians event (that lasted 21 days). The Cleveland Indians now hold the all-time Major League Baseball consecutive wins record.

The team hasn't dramatically changed since last year.

The Indians are still a huge force.

A couple of notes:

I've always said that Francona manages for September. Most of that streak was in September. But too early.

The 22nd win was a 10 inning walk-off 3-2.

The Indians lost the next day 4-3. (then won their next 5 games)

By the end of September, the wind was out of the Indians' sail. (no momentum)

Francona will not make the same mistake this year.

Clevinger with 11 K's in 7 innings beats Chisox, 5-2. Indians now lead AL Central by 4-1/2 games over Detroit. Tigers just lost Miggy Cabrera for the year with a ruptured triceps tendon (ouch!). In other news, Indians DFA'd Melky Cabrera and reinstated the immortal Brandon Guyer. Oh well, Melky had his chance and didn't really do enough to win the job.

That would mean Rajai Davis is your full time CF, because Naquin sure can't play Center. Maybe Chisenhall platoons with Rajai in CF while Guyer and Naquin platoon in RF?

Poor choice of adjective for describing Guyer.

Led the league in Hit-By-Pitches twice. Both times with about half a season of plate appearances.

That's a lot of HBP's.

The man has a decent On-Base-Average. The hard way.

It's great having Kluber pitch after a one game winning streak.

Tribe is huge favorite and the game runs over/under is 7.5 (very low).

That reflects the likelihood that the Twins won't be touching home plate much tonight. After circling the bases.

Yeah, I like when Kluber can continue a streak or keep our momentum

TRAVIS HAFNER RETURNING TO THE FIELD FOR LAKE ERIE

May 4, 2018

The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, have announced that former Cleveland Indian, Travis Hafner, will join the team to play one game on Saturday June 16th, 2018. Hafner will be the designated hitter for the Crushers on Travis Hafner Night presented by McGowan PAE, at Sprenger Health Care Stadium.

“We are so excited to have Travis join us for our June 16th game”, stated Crushers Co-Owner Tom Kramig. “We believe the fans will really enjoy watching Travis return to the field and take a few swings. He played so many great seasons in Cleveland and it will be great to see him take the field one more time.”

Hafner played 12 years in the major leagues, 10 of them with the Cleveland Indians. He posted a .273 lifetime batting average and clubbed 213 home runs during his career. The North Dakota native and now Cleveland resident is the co-owner of the Major League record for most grand slams in a single season with six, which he accomplished in 2006.

The game will also help raise funds for some local youth baseball organizations. Two local little leagues are raising money through the Crushers Fundraiser ticketing program, and Avon Little League will be conducting a 50 / 50 raffle and auctioning off signed Travis Hafner Jersey’s with all of those proceeds going towards Avon youth baseball and softball.

Hafner will also take batting practice with the team, which will be open to the public, as well as sign autographs after the game. Tickets for Travis Hafner Night are now on sale at www.lakeeriecrushers.com, as well as at the Crushers Box Office.

The Lake Erie Crushers are located in Avon, Ohio and play in the Frontier League of independent professional baseball. ( www.frontierleague.com )

Totally agree.

CF, 2B, Catcher,( especially Perez), RF.

Plus Alonzo and Eddie are kinda of low contact all or nothing guys.

They have to make a move at the break.

I understand patience. However, Kipnis has been brutal. He has zero confidence at the plate. You can see it. He misses fat pitches. He swings at balls. He is not making any hard contact.
Either start Gonzales or make a trade and move Ramirez to second. Manny Machado at third would be huge.

As the team stands today they are not a post season threat.

Doesn't Cleveland have the best starting rotation in baseball?

That's a pretty good post season threat (as the team stands today).

Hitters tend to be more streaky than pitchers.

Indians are 4th in the AL in runs scored, and 3rd in HR's. With our starters, and maybe a bullpen addition or two, we have plenty enough hitting to go deep in the playoffs and maybe even win the whole thing, IMO.

Eddie Rosario just hit his 14th career HR off the Indians, after hitting 3 HR the last time we faced them. For #@%$ sake, somebody just drill this guy!

Indians are sucking the tailpipe tonight. Its 5-0, Twins. Kluber is out with some kind of injury, and Lindor just booted a sure double-play grounder to let in a run. Now its 6-0, because Otero just balked in a run. Its a shame, because its a Dollar Dog / Fireworks night and there's a big crowd, so of course the Indians come out and **** the bed. So annoying.
