If you want to get very weird about it, the Republicans literally cheered when Clint Eastwood had an imaginary Obama tied to a chair at their National Convention.

That's what I was referring to. The empty chair. And unlike some people that were pointed out above, they actually gave him stage time to pretend he was holding our president hostage! lmao

They must have forgotten because the Obama family wasn't dumb enough to confuse it with reality. They love being victims of figurative language and actions.

Also, you ninja'd my post about Clint Eastwood.

This is true. I am 32. Wasnt 18 until 2003. Wasnt interested in voting during Bush's second term.

I am however a huge motorcycle enthusiast. I have a custom chopper myself. Always a fan of the Captain America Bike, and my dream is to own a replica one day.

I'm only a few years older and happen to not like Easy Rider. I found it to be a senseless movie. I watched it in college, thinking it was going to be this great flick and came away very unimpressed. Nicholson was great as always, but Fonda and Hopper were boring. I just wasn't that into it.

I'm like a walking IMDB, I've seen a ton of movies, and that's on my list for all time bad ones. I didn't like Deer Hunter either. Loved the actors, hated the movie.

And speaking of Easy Rider, do we ever find out what they're hiding in the gas tank? Sorry, it's been 18 years since I've seen it.

Im biased as I love motocycles. Anything with an awesome bike is great to me.

Deer Hunter is a great flick. I think you need to get past the fact they are "boring" and that's just how movies were made back then. They didn't have the effects, sound scores, etc to immerse a movie-goer like today. So its harder for us younger lads to get into them. But if you appreciate the acting, you will learn to appreciate the movie.

Um.. yes, that was kind of the point. Hell Clint did it at the RNC convention.. kind of hard for the GOP to run from that one.

But every nut job white supremacist, loony pastor, etc that opens their mouth, anybody who has ever claimed to be the least bit conservative gets lumped in with it..

And I'll have you notice, you just did it again.. "So YOU GUYS own..."

Who is "You guys"? I didn't vote for Trump, I don't even like him... yet you, using the same logic, just lumped me in with all those who did simply because I took a point counter to yours and because I have defended the political right sometimes...

Well I didn't mean to imply that I can't appreciate older movies. Some of my favorites are older Paul Newman movies like Cool Hand Luke and The Hustler. I love the sequel Color of Money too. In fact, most of Newman's movies are great.

I just went and read the entire plot to Easy Rider and I still don't like it lol.

As for Deer Hunter, man that wedding scene was like 2 hours long! It picked up after that and wasn't too bad, but I don't think it deserved best picture.

Color of money is one my favorites (I used to be an avid billiard player).

To each their own, I guess. People eat liver - so opinions are different in taste lol

That was actually my point. While both sides have their fair share of nut jobs, the GOP gave that one a platform on their own stage.

And so do those on the left. This isn't a topic isolated to either side of the political aisle. Which also was my point.

I did do that and that is certainly my fault. Sorry about that. I certainly don't think of you in that light. While we don't agree about everything, I don't consider you in the same category as posters like 40 or Vambo who post here daily. I consider you a conservative with good values that stands far more on his principals than any loyalty to a politician or party.

While it's no excuse I took you as coming at me pretty hard so strictly on instinct I responded by what I felt was responding in kind.

I hope I've helped clear the air on that.

"The Conners" get a greenlight

I think this will probably end pretty horribly for ABC. I don't think the show can go without her and be successful. It will for a couple weeks, as people will check it out to see what its like, but viewers will fall off. Love her or hate her, she was absolutely the straw that stirred the drink.
