Ok, I'm as liberal as anyone here but I have to speak up about something and try to be nonpartisan for a moment.

People are lashing out at Trump's staff in a take no prisoners way just like Trump lashes out at everyone stoking divides. I don't like seeing this.

Regardless of our differences in political views, we are all still human and American. I despise these people but would not do this to them going about their lives in their off time.

And it's also happening from the right. Trump supporters chased Ana Navarro (CNN Republican Contributor) for speaking out against Trump in a department store. And the video above, kids following Trump's lead in school bulling mexicans and other minorities...

This is where all of Trump's divisive rhetoric is leading us, we can't even be civil in public anymore. I know I stand my ground and lash out on here a lot, but I wouldn't even think about doing these things to you guys. This bothers me.

I just wanted to put that out there. I hope this all ends soon or we are going to be in a very bad place.

Do you? The longer this plays out the more it helps democrats in November. I don't think any liberal wants this to end soon. Like I said in another post, both sides care more about political victories than doing the right thing.

The divider and chief moniker started with Obama....try to be a little more original.

In case you forgot...Barry was the one that told conservatives that elections had consequences and to sit in the back of the bus..Barry was the one that fanned the flames of the current black vs cop mantra...the seeds of division were sown long before trump got a seat at the table

Wrong again.

The "seeds of division" were sown when Bush Jr, Rumsfeld, Cheney and Powell all lied to the American people and eventually to the world about "weapons of mass destruction" and invaded Iraq, killing and wounding hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis and tens of thousands of innocent Americans. Let's not forget that detail.

Still on that tail....did it ever occur to you where Syria got their current stockpiles? There is plenty of satellite imagery leading up to Iraq invasion of convoys leaving Iraq heads to Syria.....my guess is is those trucks were loaded with baby food and formula.

Which as we know followed on the coat tails of the invading Afghanastan in retribution for 9/11... which never would have occurred if Clinton would have said yes to the Yemenis who had Bin Laden after the first Trade Center bombing and offered him to us.

They also forget that Saddam hadn't complied with inspections and as we drove toward Baghdad threatened to use WMD's against U.S. forces.

Yes, I am "still on that tail". That fact that you are not disgusted with the outright lies that killed and wounded hundreds of thousands is very sad.

I don't know where the extreme division has manifested from, but we as a nation need to be able to have a conversation about topics without the labeling and quick judgments. I remember after Trump was elected, every analyst had an opinion as to what led to such an outcome. My personal favorites were the ones who reacted with surprise, but with the impression of an open mind. They saw a group of Americans that voiced their opinion effectively enough, and while they may not have understood the motives, they adopted an attitude of "Perhaps you've been ignored....but I am listening now".

And that's what we need to do. We need to listen and try to understand each other. This takes a massive amount of effort and is typically not done easily. I question if those who made a pledge to listen have followed through.

We also need to remember how to compromise. The landmark bills that have been passed this past decade have been almost entirely one-sided when it comes to the vote. That is going to accomplish nothing in the long run, because as soon as the other side gains a majority they just work to undo what was done.

Both of these tasks, listening and compromise, need to happen at the micro level too. Understandably there are certain topics that one feels they cannot compromise on (whether this be true or not) due to moral, religious, or other obligations/reasoning. It's going to happen. I hesitate to put a percentage out there, but I dare say that the majority of topics have room for compromise on both sides.

I write this from a place of experience. I, like many others, did not want to listen. I didn't want to hear the other side of the story. But I gave it a shot and I am extremely happy I did. As I said before it takes effort, and there are times when I automatically go back to my normal default setting. I don't pretend to be perfect. And please don't interpret this post as me taking a holier than thou, or "I am enlightened and you are not" approach or tone. I merely implore you to take a step back, challenge your position, and really, truly, actually (can't emphasize this enough) listen to the counterpoint.

I don't always change my mind, but I at least see where the other side is coming from, and from that I DO feel more knowledgeable when I form an opinion. I've learned a ton in the process. I will do my best to read your opinions to understand your logic and motivations. In the past I HAVE changed my mind or softened my opinion (aka compromise) in the process (very recently on a topic in fact). I want to continue to learn from everyone.

We as a nation derive much power from our shared ideology and resources. United we stand, divided we fall.

Apologies if that was not your intent for this thread.

Maxine Waters Calls on Americans to ATTACK Trump Staffers

By
Todd Starnes -
June 24, 2018

https://www.toddstarnes.com/politics/max...trump-staffers/

A far-left California congresswoman is calling on Americans to rise up and harass members of the Trump Administration.

“If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere,” Rep. Maxine Waters told a crowd of supporters over the weekend...

Black Extremist Calls For Killing Cops In Pittsburgh, Had Ties To Dallas Sniper

https://www.themaven.net/bluelivesmatter...ZkmUm9kC3Vaq2A/

“We're arriving to Pittsburgh to 'Right This Wrong!' We are coming to Pittsburgh 'To Die If Necessary' in Self-defense But 'We Demand The Life of The Officer That Killed Our Younger Black Brother or Any Blue Life Will Do!” Millere wrote on his Facebook page.

“We Are Seriously Considering Instituting An Annual Purge Against All Racist White Organizations, All Racist White Police, And All Their Ignorant, Conformed, Black Coons / Goons, for the sins / killings that are being committed against our people by such (both foreign and domestic )!” he continued.

He finished his social media tirade by saying “We Will Die To Fulfill This Cause In Self-defense! May Allah Be With Us Until Whatever End!”

It’s important to note that in the aftermath of the shooting spree that killed the Dallas officers, representatives of Black Lives Matter were quick to condemn the killer’s actions. Millere, on the other hand, celebrated on social media just before 11 a.m. the morning after the heroes’ murders.

“WE ARE CALLING ON THE GANGS ACROSS THE NATION! ATTACK EVERYTHING IN BLUE EXCEPT THE MAIL MAN, UNLESS HE IS CARRYING MORE THAN MAIL!” Millere posted on his Facebook page the next morning, according to Vocativ.

The post was accompanied by an image of blue and red bandana-covered hands with the hashtag # BloodsAndCripsUnite.

“We are Calling on every gang (Crips and Bloods) and gangsta across the four corners to put in some work because these racist crackas have put themselves in your business. It’s time for the Crips and Blood to shed some blood. Know what um saying!?” Millere wrote.

It’s also worth noting that Millere has encouraged people to kill firefighters, too, on social media, claiming that they’re on “the same side as the police,” Vocative reported.

I'm pretty sure that is called inciting a riot and illegal.

You could not be nonpartisan even on your best day. It's quite frankly impossible for you. Your actually a prime example of the typical liberal extremist. I know you well because your just like my own father.

Anytime someone starts to use logic or reason you just start flailing away at them with your name calling and demonizing. If someone uses logic you just scream away until its drowned out by your rage. It's the normal for liberals these days. Their demonstrations always end up in violence instead of debate which is the exact excuse colleges use to block the conservative voice.

"I'm sorry we can't have you speak on campus because the students might act out in violence. We can't keep you safe."

Their excuses are their own condensation. Liberals are violent and belligerent. You are supposed to let them do any vulgar, disgusting act in the name of free speech but let liberals hear of a poor cop trying to hold a prayer for victims and lawsuits and mayhem will ensue.

Christians are being forced to swing to conservative values because liberal extremists leave us with no choice if we want to protect ourselves from their PC intolerance and oppression. Trump has nothing to do with it. He is just the one giving a voice to the frustrations and rising anger from the oppression of the left against Christian values. Now that liberals have an easy target because a man finally had the sack to stand up against it they are swarming in desperation.

I'll prophecy for you right now. The political violence will soon be much, much worse. Christians are used to it though. Those who serve the flesh instead of the Lord always seek to oppress us. The bullies of the PC culture are starting to learn though that when you bully kind people to much that they eventually get tired of it and rise up to stop it.

It's only going to get worse. Much, much worse. I fully expect the violent liberals to try and kill Trump soon like they did against the congressmen just trying to play a game of baseball.

Yeah we got your message. You despise us and everything is all Trump's fault. Thanks for the reach out. Not like it's something new for you to say though. Liberals have been spewing intolerance towards traditional family values and religion in general for decades now.

I get it. I am a white Christian male so by default everything is my fault in the world. I am an evil and cold person because I want laws enforced and citizens who obey the laws. The message of liberals is very loud and clear. I mean why would people be fed up with liberal extremist at all. By all means turn the nation into California because liberalism makes such wonderful places to live.

I see you've had a weekend full of pro Trump rhetoric. But before you go lumping all christian and conservatives into the anti-Dem, anti-liberal camp you should know that this weekend on Twitter alone I saw at least 50 tweets of conservatives and christians leaving the GOP over Trump. I was only on for a few hours.

I'm not saying all Republicans are leaving or even most... I' saying many are. That should tell you something.

OCD holds out an olive branch, and you slap it back in his face.. Yikes

Anyway, I'm afraid I'm guilty of using the phrase "out of your cotton picking mind" and not once did I ever equate it to black people picking cotton... The thought never occurred to me that it could be taken as a racial slur... Never.

As for Sanders being asked to leave an establishment, hey, the SCOTUS recently said it's okay to turn away business on Religious Moral grounds,,, So I guess there isn't anything wrong with this either. Still can't believe they even heard that case.

I mean, you can't have it both ways.

I love how you try to play non-partisan, then instantly a few sentences later try to blame everything on trump.....nothing to see here. just more divisiveness.

Do you? The longer this plays out the more it helps democrats in November. I don't think any liberal wants this to end soon. Like I said in another post, both sides care more about political victories than doing the right thing.

If your idea of holding out an olive branch is to say you despise someone and then make a one sided attack then sure. To most it's just lip service to justify a barbed attack. It's just what so called educated people do. They used veiled insults so they can say how nice they are and then go back to the attacks so they can say how uncivilized you are for not appreciating them not being as vitriol as normal.

I've seen enough of that nonsense to last a lifetime.

Now your point on the owners right to turn customers away I can agree with 100%. All businesses have the right to turn away customers, so long as, they are not being discriminatory based on race, age, ethnicity, physical disability, or religion.

They might end up adding amendments later on for sexual identity or political views but for now there is no federal law against it. Employment laws are a little different though but for customers it is what it is.

You can't fix stupid but you can destroy ignorance. When you destroy ignorance you remove the justifications for evil. If you want to destroy evil then educate our people. Hate is a tool of the stupid to deal with what they can't understand.

We can't afford news media blunders in the Donald Trump era. Skip the cheap smear tactics.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2...lumn/729331002/

Time Magazine and the AP misled the public on Donald Trump's immigration policies. We need strong news media in our present moment, not fumbles like this.

Two recent news media fumbles illustrate nicely the present divide between mainstream journalism’s ambitions and its chronically blundering execution. There is a reason that American mistrust of the media is at such historic lows. There are things the media can do to rectify this, if we care to.

The first fumble came from Time Magazine, which published a cover story examining President Donald Trump’s controversial border separation policy. The photo-shopped cover of that issue features an immigrant toddler bawling as Trump serenely looks down upon her. “Welcome to America,” the caption reads — the obvious implication being that the immigrant girl had been torn from her parents at the behest of Trump’s policy. Indeed, the story itself initially stated that the girl had been “carried away screaming by U.S. Border Patrol agents.”

But she wasn’t. It didn’t happen. The heavy insinuation on Time’s cover, along with the explicit account in the story itself, turned out to be false. The girl’s father confirmed that she was never taken from her mother. Time eventually corrected the story, stating that rather than being carted off by border agents, “her mother picked her up and the two were taken away together.”

Time exploited a little girl's tears

It is bad enough that the magazine outright reported on an event that didn’t actually happen. But Time’s cover adds another layer of media malpractice to the whole thing. In effect the magazine is exploiting the tears of a little girl in order to drive home a political point; it is tricking readers into thinking a photograph is depicting something that objectively it is not.

In other contexts this tactic would have been roundly condemned. By way of example, several years ago, when pro-life activist David Daleiden used some stock footage of a stillborn baby to illustrate an abortion worker’s claims, the news media had a feeding frenzy over it. The Washington Post, CNN, ThinkProgress and other outlets were quick to point it out. Nobody likes to be fooled.

Not to be outdone, the Associated Press last week published a bombshell report on a civil rights lawsuit brought by numerous immigrant children. They were allegedly held at a detention center in Virginia and subject to brutal abuse, including being “beaten while handcuffed and locked up for long periods in solitary confinement, left nude and shivering in concrete cells.”

The allegations are horrifying. What was surprising, however, was the way the article framed them. In the original report, which has since been amended online, readers had to make it through over 20 paragraphs before learning that most of the alleged abuse took place under the Obama administration.
Tell the truth. Don't lie. Don't trick.

Not only did the article deeply bury the context of the allegations, it also strongly implied that the abuse was taking place solely under the Trump administration. One paragraph reads: “Many of the children were sent [to the detention facility] after U.S. immigration authorities accused them of belonging to violent gangs, including MS-13. President Donald Trump has repeatedly cited gang activity as justification for his crackdown on illegal immigration.” Such framing makes it seem as if the alleged abuse was a direct consequence of Trump’s rhetoric, when that simply wasn’t the case.

The revised article makes it clear that much of the abuse dates from the Obama era. But the clarification came after the article had already been shared thousands upon thousands of times on social media. When stories like this drop, they spread across the globe within a matter of minutes — no matter if the story itself is misleading or unfair.

The news media need to do better than this. Our present political moment needs a strong and professional journalism industry, not one that is interested in cheap, dishonest tactics meant to smear the president. This is particularly crucial when one remembers that Trump himself has signaled a willingness to try and muzzle the media: On the campaign trail, he expressed a desire to use libel laws to shut up anyone who criticizes him. A media that regularly shreds its own credibility — with Trump voters, for one, but also with the larger body politic — is ill-suited to take on that kind of threat.

Be honest. Tell the truth. Don’t lie. Don’t trick. These are rules every journalist should follow. We should not think we have the luxury of slapdash journalism. It is bad for the industry and ultimately bad for the country.

You endorse a president whose life expounds everything that's the opposite of any Christian or family values then turn around and spout this crap? And you wonder why hypocrisy is something the left screams at you. lmao

There's a reason why no one has talked about the OP, which is the classic example of Republican dialogue. Say something remarkably offensive, then get mad when people react negatively to it, while they cover for each other.

It just amazes me how they can endorse a man who cheated on his first wife with his second wife. Cheated on his second wife with his third wife. Cheats on his third wife with a porn star. Mocks a disabled person, puts down a veteran POW running against him because he was a POW. Attacks a Gold star family because their politics is different.

Then they preach at others about family values? You couldn't make this crap up if you tried!

So I reach out and you reply with this but I'm the violent one? smh

To each his own Razor but don't expect us good "PC" folks to lay down when you come at us.

You're kind of out there aren't you? Wow.

Please tell me how oppressed you are? Please tell me how us liberal extremists are attacking your christian values?

Get real. You should be addressing me, considering I'm the liberal atheist. I don't believe in your god, I don't believe in your bible, and I find it all ridiculous. BUT, I don't care if you believe in such things. Don't force it down my throat and I won't force my beliefs...or truths, down yours.

We run into problems when you want to make everything about god. When you want to force my kids to learn about god in public school. When you want to force my kids schools to teach the bible instead of evolution. When you base our laws of what you say to be christian values or claim something is god-given.

Or when you thank god you didn't die from an accident instead of thanking the medical professionals who saved your life.

Maxine, I believe is one of the 10-worst politicians in our country, but she didn't call for attacks. Could her comments be taken that way or be taken out of context (like this article's title), yes. But she isn't making a call to violence.

Tragic!

I saw the video and this officer seems complicit in the death of that kid. And I hope justice prevails on this.

However, this reaction is only a part of the problem, not solution.

I was VERY critical of Obama when this outrage started for not saying much if anything. Trump needs to step in here and push for justice. He needs to lead in this as this situation is a powderkeg.

No one said she was calling for violence, the article stated called to harass/attack Trump cabinet.

no where did is see it insinuate about violence, however if its that easy for you think that the author was talking about violence, I surely hope someone listening to Maxine does not.....

It bothers me too. But as abrasive as you might find Trump to be, he is not the cause. He is at best, a symptom, at worst, a catalyst.. and as anybody knows who has studied chemistry, a catalyst is something that speeds up a reaction that was going to happen anyway..

We have been on this road of division for a long time, well before Trump, well before Obama, well before the invasion of Iraq... go back 100 years, go back 200 years.. and read about the division in our politics and the hateful things that were done... In fact, trying to find some defining event or person so we can point the finger of shame and say "they started it" is a pointless exercise which only serves one purpose.. to increase the divide.

Is it worse now than it was in the past? Perhaps.... or perhaps it's just more visible and we have access to more information.... It seems to me that it ebbs and flows, sometimes more visible than others.. but there is no doubt, it's pretty bad right now.

Each of us as individuals have the choice to be a part of it, cheer it, and defend it... or denounce it and refuse to be a part of it... thing is you have to be fair and denounce it from both sides... if anybody chooses to be a part of it and defend it, then they are part of the problem. They can no longer claim to be on any kind of moral high ground in the debate...

The only real difference I see now is that it's more in the forefront. These feelings have been hiding out all along. I think your catalyst analogy fits very well.

I agree. I don't lay it all on Trump, but his constant divisiveness is fanning the flames. People are who they are at the core. Some can change when they learn, other won't even try.

It's not as bad as it used to be. I haven't seen any news about lynchings, gas chambers, or genocide. But I am seeing our President make boogeymen out of immigrants. He also did it with muslim refugees. Question is, who's next on his list?

I don't see anybody buying into those things that didn't believe them already.. that's how Trump got elected in the first place.

His rhetoric might be emboldening them to much more out in the open about it.. but the feelings aren't new to them.

I agree with this a lot. The left is using Trump as an excuse to lash out with no consequences. Not that the right has not done that either in the past, but it most certainly is the worse I have ever seen in my lifetime now.

Let's not focus on one side there willit. Trump lashes out all the time. It's the catalyst for a lot of this.

It's no excuse for the Dems to act this way though.
