Wow, so much for any degree of civility. I wonder how Waters would feel if she, or her supporters, were tossed from a restaurant because they don't like her, or harassed by Trump supporters?

I am all for vigorous public debate on policy and such, but man, this kind of stuff goes over the line. Unfortunately, the Democrats have been losing on policy, and to make matter sworse for them, they have been losing to an ineffectual Republican Party.

I wonder if she would have any culpability if any of these people she is calling to harassment happen to cross the line to criminal violence?

Maxine Waters encourages supporters to harass Trump administration officials - CNNPolitics
https://www.cnn.com/2018/06/25/politics/maxine-waters-trump-officials/index.html

Washington (CNN)Rep. Maxine Waters called on her supporters to publicly confront and harass members of the Trump administration in response to the "zero tolerance" policy that led to the separation of families at the border.

The California Democrat and vehement critic of President Donald Trump made the comments on Saturday, first at a rally in Los Angeles and later in a television interview.

"Let's make sure we show up wherever we have to show up. And if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. And you tell them they're not welcome anymore, anywhere. We've got to get the children connected to their parents," Waters said at the Wilshire Federal Building, according to video of the event.

"We don't know what damage has been done to these children. All that we know is they're in cages. They're in prisons. They're in jails. I don't care what they call it, that's where they are and Mr. President, we will see you every day, every hour of the day, everywhere that we are to let you know you cannot get away with this," she added.

Waters appeared on MSNBC later in the day to double down on her remarks, saying she has "no sympathy" for members of the Trump administration.

"The people are going to turn on them. They're going to protest. They're going to absolutely harass them until they decide that they're going to tell the President, 'No, I can't hang with you.'"
CNN reached out to Waters' office on Monday morning and did not immediately receive a response.

Her comments were swiftly criticized. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy told Fox News Monday the remarks were "very dangerous" and called upon Waters to issue a public apology. Sen. Jeff Flake, a retiring Arizona Republican who has repeatedly criticized Trump, tweeted, "Left or right, nobody deserves this kind of treatment."

Meghan McCain, the daughter of Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain, called Waters' comments "absolutely insane" and "extremely dangerous." McCain, who is also the daughter-in-law of Douglas Domenech, the current Assistant United States Secretary of the Interior for Insular Areas, asked on Twitter, "does this mean when we go out to dinner we should be ambushed?!?"

Some Democrats, however, were reluctant to directly criticize Waters, a popular figure among progressives and a longtime member of Congress.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi referred to Waters' comments as "unacceptable" but blamed Trump's "daily lack of civility" for provoking responses such as that of Waters.

"In the crucial months ahead, we must strive to make America beautiful again. Trump's daily lack of civility has provoked responses that are predictable but unacceptable. As we go forward, we must conduct elections in a way that achieves unity from sea to shining sea," Pelosi tweeted, linking out to a story about the remarks.

Asked about Waters' comments on CNN's "New Day" Monday, Rep. Adriano Espaillat of New York would not criticize his fellow Democrat.

"To get sidetracked into these debates about whether or not somebody was welcome at a restaurant takes our eyes off of what's going on in America today," Espaillat said, later adding, "Maxine Waters is entitled to her opinion and I respect that."

That's been my point on here for many years. There's enough scum in both parties that for anyone to actually tie themselves to either party is absurd.

She wasn't suggesting violence. I'm no fan of her whatsoever, but I don't have a problem with her comments.

She is promoting resistance not violence. Shunning those associated with separating families at the border.

That said, I don't like this. I've already tried to address it in another thread and got shredded for my efforts.

Congresswoman Maxine Waters, an extraordinarily low IQ person, has become, together with Nancy Pelosi, the Face of the Democrat Party. She has just called for harm to supporters, of which there are many, of the Make America Great Again movement. Be careful what you wish for Max!

I didn't see where she called for harm. I do see the veiled threat and whipping up the bases anger. Walters addressed the people in the cabinet or associated with the Trump admin, not followers of MAGA. Hmmm... what is Trump up to here?

I think you are drawing a fine line of semantics when she is suggesting that if they are in a mall or a restaurant that you build a crowd and push back to let them know they aren't welcome anywhere anymore... The step from doing literally exactly what she says.. and having it turn violent.. is an extremely small step.

I agree.

I'd much prefer speaking directly to them one-on-one.

Truth: I'd truly relish an opportunity to do that with Steven Miller. I have some choice words saved up for him. I hope we encounter each other some day.

'They Were Trying to Create a Fight': Florida AG Bondi Confronted by Protesters at Movie Theater

http://insider.foxnews.com/2018/06/25/pa...mr-rogers-movie

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi (R) said Monday that the protesters who confronted her at a movie theater this weekend are "bullies" who were looking for a fight.

A number of conservative women have faced harassment because of their support of President Trump and because of backlash toward the Trump administration's “zero-tolerance” policy at the border.

Bondi said that while waiting in the ticket line to see "Won’t You Be My Neighbor" - a documentary about Mr. Rogers - a woman approached her and claimed Bondi was responsible "for ripping babies out of the arms of mothers."

"They were trying to create a fight," Bondi said on "Fox & Friends," explaining that the hecklers were right in her face and trying to goad her boyfriend into responding physically.

Promoting division and alienation. That won't fix or help things... Trump manages to do both without any help. Not a fan of anything Maxine said.

No, he absolutely does not. Trump depends on others getting down into the mud with him... that's what he wants, that's what he strives for, that's why he tweets and communicates the way he does...

If everybody around Trump remained civil, he would look like the only arse in the room.. instead, when he gets what he wants, it ends up looking like a room full of arses and he's the most polished at turning it around and making himself look like the victim...

So Trump willingly gets down in the stank pile, his faithful willingly follow him... then it's just a shame that almost everybody from the mainstream media, to the secondary media, to Hollywood, to all of those on social media, to so many on MBs such as this have fallen for it and just gleefully kicked off their shoes and jumped in the stank pile to do battle with him... because once everybody is in the stank pile, it's impossible to tell who the good guys are/were...

And on top of that - Trump can act like a mafia boss and a douche and get away with it, whether making fun of invalids, or encouraging his faithful to hurt a protester .... when others try and reciprocate they look foolish and out of their element.

The only individual I have seen who can mix it at the same level as Trump and not look like a buffoon is Stormy's lawyer. Can't think of his name right now. He's the sort of guy who can get under Trump's skin and annoy the crappolla out of the right and be natural doing it.

He gets away with it because those who support him refuse to actually expect more. They then in turn uphold his assanility. No it's not a word but in this day and time it should be.

Except that's not what's happening with Maxine's plea. She's calling for business owners and patrons to stand up and call out trump's deplorable cabinet members who visit their places of business. And it's obvious that Trump doesn't like it. And Wa Wa SHS...she's been lying to the American public straight faced. She needs to be called out everywhere she goes. That's hardly diving into Trump's stank pile of deplorable's. I think it's asking the stank pile to get out of our face.

He also gets away with it because enough of those who oppose him have decided to use the same tactic thus making themselves look foolish and not giving folks like me anybody to really get behind. I refuse to get behind Trump but I ain't getting behind a party that has heaped praise on folks like Maxine either.

It's one thing when the limousine liberals in Hollywood act the fool, in many ways people expect that.. Maxine has been in congress for 27 years and for better or worse, her behavior DOES reflect on the democratic party as a whole.... she should know better... but there she is, stilettos on the bank and her arse in the stank pile fighting DJT style.

I certainly agree with you yet at the same time many Democrats have publicly stated that they didn't agree with what she said or her tactics.

So while I agree with you that both sides have their warts, please get back to me when top Republican leaders like Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnel start calling out Trump the same way.

My issue is that neither party could come up with someone fit to be president. I DO see many Democrats standing up to Maxine Waters. People who will actually be running for political office again. Not so much on the other side.
