As a business man you should know the wisdom of seizing opportunity when it is presented to you.

What was it Grandma used to say? "Never look a gift horse in the mouth."

As a businessman, I understand the need to have a solid plan and stick to that plan... sometimes you turn down opportunity, foregoing a little short term profit, if it distracts from your greater plan.

Businesses that run around chasing every little short term opportunity just for a little profit without sticking to their long term plan seldom succeed.

Like your long term plans to build Mental institutions and change gun laws to protect our school children from shootings today?

Trump should then withdraw his offer and perhaps, over time, he will stumble across one or two of the many hundreds of people you could have saved with his pardon offer.

Not wise.

No, like my long term plan to address school shootings from multiple angles addressing a variety of the issues that have gotten us to this point to reduce school shootings in the future.. while providing guards to help in the near term.

You think he was going to pardon many hundreds of people? Is he trying to clear space so they can arrest many hundreds more and put them in jail on petty drug charges etc?

Glad to see you have come around to addressing the security concerns for the kids as you were against it for a very long time. thumbsup

You think he is not willing to pardon hundreds of people if he feels it is the right thing to do?
You have no idea how far he is willing to take it.
Nobody took the short term approach of simply presenting him with the names to see what he would do.

You have decided to assume he will not release hundreds.
You have decided to concentrate on your long term plans while those people rot in prison, waiting for you to be successful.

You also think we should overlook crimes committed today because they are petty while the sentencing requires prison time? That doesn't seem petty to me. Perhaps you should ask the victims of those petty crimes if they want the criminals to walk.

When you have a Grandma who served 13 years of a 20 year sentence for transporting drugs, you may consider a pardon with time served but letting her walk from the time of conviction is foolish.

No, I was (and still am) against building fortified prison-like schools. I've never been against having security at the doors and on the premises..... that's something you just assumed to be true in your haste to call me girly names and stuff.

That's a fair point.. and you are 100% correct, I have absolutely no idea how far he is willing to go with most things...

No, I think we should revisit those crimes that require prison time..

I think we should look at those who are suspected, those who are charged, and those who are convicted... I think we might find some disturbing trends in there with respect to different demographics being convicted at a much higher rate..

Then I think we should look at the punishment for those who are convicted.. I think we might find some disturbing trends in there with respect to different demographics being punished much more severely for similar convictions....

When you have a woman serving a 12 year sentence for being involved in a $31 weed transaction.. that's foolish too.

Ok, so that is part of your long term plan and that involves Congress. The President is offering Pardons. That is under his control alone.

Would it not be wise to incorporate his offer of Pardons into your long term plan and achieve more?

Probably. That's where I think the players screwed up. It was a well crafted letter (though parts were a little misguided).. but it missed the opportunity..

the opportunity is to say "Mr. President, we will bring you a list of folks that we believe should be considered for pardon but in doing so, we want to discuss with you the real systemic issues that NFL players are actually protesting against. If you are willing to open that dialogue with us and make a commitment to improve things, we will give you our list."

Rather than a flat refusal, would have served more as a counteroffer..

I don't think there is a person in the entire country who does not recognize the divide and how it is growing under his leadership. If it were me, I would want to bridge that divide. I would rather go deep than offer a surface handout.

I would do so because I think that a country united is much stronger than one divided. And my number one priority as president of this great country would be to make it as strong and united as possible.

You made a good point, YTown and I get where you are coming from. But, these are troubled times, my friend. Despite the pollution that emits from many of these threads, I really believe that many Americans are tired of the bickering, labeling, and name-calling.

I think a majority of Americans are pleading for us to all work together to bridge the divide rather than further it.

I am one of those Americans and damn proud of it.

I tend to agree with you Vers.

But I believe there is something you might wish to consider. This message of division and distrust among their fellow Americans and people of other colors has helped them gain the presidency, control of the congress and control of the senate.

Where is their motivation to change the message in all of that?

The obvious answer to that is.. because it's just the right thing to do..

Now back to reality....

Yea, Hogwash.

Had nothing to do with Christians losing their businesses because they stood against having to support the sin of homosexuality.

Nothing to do with their daughters being forced to shower with men who claimed to identify as women.

Nothing to do with every business having to add a third bathroom.

Nothing to do with the rampant Socialism and half the country on the dole.

Nothing to do with the lies and corruption of the Democrats as they got our soldiers and ambassador killed "over a movie".

Nothing to do with being called deplorables.

Nothing to do with Globalism, the Elites and the UN threatening to replace our Constitution.

Nothing to do with their destruction of the family.

Nothing to do with vilifying our Police.

Nothing to do with threatening our 2nd Amendment Rights.

Nothing to do with the Corruption in Obama's IRS, giving the shaft to Conservative groups in an election year.

Nothing to do with the Obama CIA spying on us all.

Nothing to do with corruption in the Justice Department.

Nothing to do with the corruption in the FBI.

Nothing to do with our jobs being sent overseas in the name of Globalism.

And finally, there is no way in Hell we were going to let you and yours pick our Supreme Court!

Someone missed his 5:00 Geritol.

I noticed that the timestamp on your post is marked 6:49. Which explains the rant. You should have been in bed an hour ago.

Rant much? lmao

Soon our generation will be dead and most of those who think like you belong to that generation. At that point you can roll over in your grave as America becomes everything you seem to despise.
