I sometimes wonder what it would be like if American drug lust had not created the cartels... I wouldn't leave a tropical paradise to come here if I was safe there.

If your country's entire economy is based on drug cartels then I'd guess your country has more problems than drug cartels.

I think you are both right. Many of those countries are completely corrupt. A significant percentage of the population is impoverished.

They want to escape those conditions to a land of better opportunity, just like our ancestors did.

The difference is that the laws have changed and the new laws make it next to impossible for poor, uneducated immigrants to enter this country illegally.

Couple that w/the fact that most or our "legal" residents don't want to partake in physically demanding labor and that our country has a need for such labor......it's safe to assume why many "illegals" would want to come here to work and to give themselves and their families a better opportunity.
