I expect to not turn off the TV by halftime, regardless of who we play. I also expect to build momentum as we go through the season. That says it all right there. This team just might do well enough that I'll have lost my Sundays in autumn, again... and I'm alright with that.

RB: Below Average
I disagree on so much that you posted as opinion. but hey I'm the HOMER.
But curious on your reasoning how is it that our RB position is BELOW Average. Hyde, Chubb and Duke??? how does this get us Below average meaning 16th or worse in the NFL. Curious on this one.
Carlos Hyde is a plodding back without burst. That normally doesn't end well for a guy who will be 28 in September. He may be a serviceable backup and 2nd back. Below Average Nick Chubb = unproven, looks like a "Frank Gore type" but again, plodding back with a history of knee injury who isn't a game breaker. TBD Duke = Elite pass catcher, will absolutely help the passing attack with screens and angle routes. Below average running back, struggles between the tackles. I don't see this being a top 15 rushing attack.

Chubb is a little more than a plodder. He doesn't have elite speed. He can be run down, but he will have plenty of 30 and 40 yard runs, but no, he probably isn't going to break one at the 20 and take it to the house for 80 yards without a little help in the way of downfield blocking.

He ran a 4.52 40 at the combine. That is good for a 227# RB, and was actually .02 of A second faster than Sony Michel. lol
He improved from a speed and quickness standpoint last season over 2016. He also looked much quicker and faster at the end of the 2017 season when compared to the beginning.
I think that he will continue to improve, physically, this season as well.

The Josh news this morning most likely means a re-evaluation of the WR corps

Just saw Joe T on the NFL Network. He is high on both TT and Baker and said he expects the Browns to win 8 games minimum.

Not nice talking about our future hallof famer like that I never liked JT has a captain, I'll give you that. No surprise here, how can you be a captain of a team and allow one of your players to come up high to practice and games and then still say the guys is good.... Keeping yourself out of trouble and going to rehab is nothing to praise off, that's what most of us do. JT owes nothing to Gordon, but is acting like a corporate puppet, just like he always did...

Ditto, JT is a complete class act....stating he's a corporate puppet seems to indicate problems with ANY leader or management. Gordon fooled lots of people- JT was one of them.....GO Browns!!!

I think you are generally a negative poster who is prone to much bitchery, but that's a new low for you.

I agree w/you guys, but let's not let him derail the thread. It's actually been really good thus far. Right?
Maybe we can discuss the WR unit again?
Do we think Gordon will be available to play all year?
Should we upgrade the position?
Do we have enough talent to overcome the loss of Gordon w/out making another move?
Or, we can talk about how Dorsey is bringing in two more DBs. What does that tell you about how he feels about the current guys?

If people don't bash JT, threads don't get derailed. I don't know much about Eli but if he's an upgrade over what we have at the bottom of that group, spend some money. I'm rooting for Josh but not counting on him, so in light of this week's development, we should look around. Higgins, a couple other guys need to have a strong camp. I'm coming around to the idea that Coleman might be another first-round failure.

I don't think any of us know. I think we all hope he can.
Should we upgrade the position?
Knowing where the bottom is, we can always upgrade that. Rodgers is way better that Lewis, so why the heck not?
Do we have enough talent to overcome the loss of Gordon w/out making another move?
I don't know that you can replace Gordon by making any moves at this point. How are we going to get Antonio Brown from the Steelers? I have hopes for Calloway....he is smooth my man. He can be really good, but he has a little Josh in him. We can improve on Higgins and Lewis with another move.
Or, we can talk about how Dorsey is bringing in two more DBs. What does that tell you about how he feels about the current guys? It does make me wonder on the DB's. Maybe the reviews by Williams and Hue aren't all that glowing at this point and he is looking for other options....?? I think there are pretty confident that Ward is going to pan out this year and possibly stud out in 2-3 years. It's the other corner position that might worry them. Maybe there isn't anybody they feel is going to be very good and are now looking for someone who might be pretty good.

I like that he is wanting to add even more competition at a position that was clearly horrible last year. The more the merrier IMO. Somebody got to pan out.

Another good take. Think about it. Our weakest units last year were QB, WR, CB, and FS. He added vets in each of those areas and also drafted guys in all except for FS. Keep going man. You are on a roll tonight.

JT shows a lot of class. Genuine HOFer IMO. Find something else to throw rocks at. Shallow and crass to pick at a truly great guy trying to help someone who needed support. Really lame.

Man, that always seems to be the million dollar question. I know that ownership wants to do everything they can to help him, and I know that the team really covets his ability, but the time to cut bait has to be approaching. Great ability has to include availability. The greatest talent in the NFL, who can only play 4-6 games/year because of injury is not helpful to the team. This team needs talented players who are also available to play every Sunday.

What is that phrase.............."the best ability is availability."
However, I think the Browns are playing this right. They are going to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. I don't think they part ways w/Josh and I don't think they count on him, either.

I would not add anyone. I don't expect t Gordon to ever play another down but I go with what we have. We can still put out a tough group of weapons but now the opportunity is there for next man up. Randall is a beast and that kid we got from a&m might end up being a major steal.

IMO you have to act as if JG is a lost cause now, whether that means signing Rogers or just relying/improving on Coleman's game

Dorsey is a professional .... don’t know if he’s a good one or not ... we’ll know now ... this is his team ... he took the mold left him and shaped it into his ... when it comes time to grade he has to do better than most ... he had two of the first four pick this year and the #33 and #35 picks and a ton after that and then he had all that cap space ... lets hope he did good ... talk to me in about 4 years ...
Anyhow ... back to my point ... Dorsey is a pro ... bringing in the DB’s is just him doing his due dillegence ... seeing if they can improve the team today or sometime down the road when injuries and/or suspensions happen ....
How the hell could it be a reflection of anyone’s play so far ... they haven’t played yet ... *LOL* ...

You can never be satisfied with your DB Group...you should always upgrade Make your 5 CBs as strong as they can get upgrade from all ends of the spectrum.
WRs...ehhh get a solid 5 and anything more is overkill for an over rated position.
QB is the KEY always has been. TT and then Mayfield...this is the key!

I'll bring up something I touched on at one point and didn't really get any feed back on.
It's in regards to E.J. Gaines. I have always considered him a pretty good DB and was happy with his signing. But in retrospect I'm not so sure about it. The reason is the amount of his contract. It was a one year deal for 4 mil. Now 4 mil. sounds like a lot of money but in the CB market that's a very cheap contract. I'm now wondering what's up with him that he came so cheaply?
From everything I've seen he signed a one year deal in hopes he could get a bigger, long term deal next year. In 2017 PFF graded him the #13 CB in the NFL so I'm not sure if my concerns are legit. In 2016 he did poorly so I'm not sure what we're getting there.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I agree w/Petey. Gaines missed all of the 2015 season, and 5 games in each of the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

There will be some serious competition on the back end. Randall will get a real push at FS from BBC. We have 3 starting caliber corners fighting for 2 spots. WE have Peppers and Kindred battling for SS. Hell we have 4 solid backers competing for 3 spots. I know there will be a good deal of rotation to keep guys fresh but man i love competition.
