things are adding up IMO to indicate this is not a good thing

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

this was part of his medical treatment plan and everyone from the Browns staff, medical team, NFL, and NFLPA knew about this.

Why would they wait until today to announce? If this was well known they would have said "hey in a week or so, Josh is going to leave the team as part of his treatment". No, instead he is gone the same day it was announced. "Treatment" sure.

what type of treatment plan voluntarily has him skip practice when he had literally 6 months prior

3 days before training camp opens, with an indefinite date of return?

Not a chance.

JG drama, it was only a matter of time. He'll continue his streak of not being available now for TC until the news breaks of his suspension.

Can't teach an old dog new tricks. But hey... maybe it was planned and known all along and this isn't news or a concern. Maybe, I guess.

I am not going to speculate on whether or not Josh failed another drug test or if it's something else.

However, this sure as hell isn't good news. Were on the cusp of camp and this news comes out now? And his statement sure looks like it was written by an attorney or agent.

I hope we sign Eli Rodgers today!!!!

like others said, the timing of the announcement is either ill-conceived or downright awful.

If this were planned, why not say it in June?
If it were not planned, we're screwed

I don't know about that, buddy. From someone who's been clean and sober (me) - I always thought it was strange that he didn't have a sober date - you know, the day you quit using. I read in an interview and he said he didn't know his day he quit.... Really?

What year was it when he checked himself into rehab right before he was allowed to rejoin the team? This seems eerily similar.

And all for freakin' DRUGS.

I worked at Ben Venue Laboratories for almost 5 years. Great place to work. Manufactured IV drugs. We had to get drug tested all the time. Not one person I know of tested positive in that whole time period and the production workers were all making around 12 to 20 bucks an hour, I'm guessing. Josh Gordon could have been making bank and he can't quit using for a few years, until at least he retires? Come on now. Grow up already. flamingmad

I guess I'm not as surprised or disappointed as it seems most are by this. I can't say for sure that Josh failed another test but indications certainly point in that direction. It's not so much that I'm a skeptic as it is I can easily recognize a pattern and look for evidence to support that pattern has changed. I would have to see Josh actually complete an off season and be eligible for the entire season before I would ever get my hopes up for him as a dependable player and team mate.

While it appeared that so many were drooling over Gordon and Landry, when it came to Gordon, I had the attitude of, "We'll see." What else could a logical thinking person say to themselves? It's not that I didn't wish he could do it. Nothing could be better for the Browns at this juncture.

But I have to consider the history of the player and the pattern that has developed over that time. That pattern has been to say all the right things every.... single.... time! Yet the net result always seem the same.

Here's to wishing most of us are wrong about this. But nothing I've seen so far in this thread causes me think we are.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Browns’ WR Josh Gordon did not have any slip ups or failed tests, per sources. His leave is a pro-active, defensive gesture to get extra counseling to try to ensure he does not have any of the setbacks that have marked his past. Those who know him say he has “worked his a— off.”

It would be nice to know who the "source" is on the one tweet and who the "sources" are on the other.

Sky-Is-Falling time in the land! Just in time for camp. I highly suggest everyone just calmly wait to see how it pans out.

Who knows what's going on? Maybe he screwed up for the last time in Cleveland? Maybe he was seriously tempted to screw up and admitted he needed help? Maybe he was persuaded to do this by HBO to stir up better Hard Knocks drama? LOL Who knows??

I only know one thing: It is absolutely INSANE to count on Gordon being on the field helping the team.

Best case scenario - he was tempted, has been having psychological issues with the whole "sobriety" thing, and is just doing exactly what he should do and has been told to do... asking for help.

Middle of the road - We don't know what goes on behind the scenes, maybe there is a little leg room if there is a small slip-up and a player asks for help... which leads to...

Worse case scenario - Josh asks for help because he admits he messed up, test shows that this is more than a "man, I just had a little slip", and he is suspended. ~ OR ~ Josh burnt a test and is going to beg for his career.

TG is the biggest hack in the business. Last I checked, he was still supposed to retire.....

From all accounts, this wa a planned medical leave, part of this treatment process.

Shefter has reported THERE ARE NOT SUSPENSIONS from the NFL , nor a failed TEST.

FYI, check TG twitter, he is not talking back that tweet like the hack that he is.

Yep, he's done. What a shame! Could we have just had 4-5 games with a healthy/decent QB and this WR core and many dreams would have come true.

Bye Josh.

So, since he has completed the indefinite suspension and then reinstated, what would the next step be, in the event he where to fail another test? Lifetime ban? Another year? Also, is he still under a no alcohol ban?

Two years ago. He practiced with the team in camp, played sparingly in one PS game and then would have been allowed to play in week 5 but checked himself into rehab right before his return.

There is a REASON I refer to him as "Meathead" dead from the neck up. Because he IS one. He's a LOSER and anyone that counts on him being there for this team is awfully naive. Even if he does make it back and plays this year, how many of you would be silly enough to then offer him a huge contract in FA? Someone might but GOD don't let it be the Browns!
