What you'll also find buried in the article is that more blacks than whites (93% vs 85%) are killed by members of their own race. Using the statistics listed, the number of black murderers is just about equal the the number of black murder victims. Why title this article like that? Just another attempt to yet again incite racial conflict. web page African-Americans are victims of nearly half the murders committed in the United States despite making up only 13 percent of the population, a report published Thursday showed. Around 8,000 of nearly 16,500 murder victims in 2005, or 49 percent, were black Americans, according to the report released by the statistics bureau of the Department of Justice. Broken down by gender, 6,800 black men were murdered in 2005, making up more than half the nearly 13,000 male murder victims. Black women made up 35 percent, or 1,200, of the nearly 3,500 female homicide victims. Young black men aged between 17 and 29 bore a disproportionately high burden in the grim statistics, making up 51 percent of African-American murder victims. The percentage of white male murder victims in the same age group was 37 percent. More than half the murders of blacks took place in densely populated urban areas. Firearms were involved 77 percent of the time in homicides involving black people and around 60 percent of the time in murders of whites. Most murder victims -- 93 percent of blacks and 85 percent of whites -- were killed by someone of their own race. Gang violence was involved in around five percent of homicides with black victims against seven percent for white victims. In percentage terms, whites were twice as likely to be killed by a current or former partner than blacks -- 12 percent of whites were murdered by a life partner against six percent of blacks.

New Report Just Out! While that very same study has shown that over TWICE that percentage, (15%) of white males were murdered by people from other races. This shows an alarming trend that white males are by far the largest victims of murder outside of their own race. It just goes to show that you can take the same set of statistics to slant things to appear pretty much however you want to. I mean I may get a little flack over it but I used the same set of statistics in an accurate manner to portay the opposite picture of what that article did. Really no different in my book.

I hate to sound like a "hater" but your article sites a report. Your link goes over to briebart.com who states a report from Dept. of Justice. But again, there is reference to a report but no report listed. It would be nice if someone had a link to the actual report ( because I did go over to the DOJ website and did not see this report). Not saying that the stats are wrong, but where is the actual report?????

My Granpa was Sicilian. Everyone thought he was black due to his dark complection. I thought he looked Mexican. He couldn't get a home loan in Cali back in the day because of the way he looked.

its been well proven that violent crimes, including murder usually happen in any given race, white on white, mex on mex, etc. Very rarely do you get black on white, vice versa, mex on white, etc. It happens, but the majority of those crimes are white on white, etc

Oh, ok. If you were to see a picture of my Grandpa and my dad, you would have seen the "tanned complexion" that has been a trademark for our entire family from my Grandparents on up, Hell, you would have thought that some of my relatives in Brooklyn were Mafioso as tough as they were both then and now. The report was just published yesterday. I don't think Brietbart would be so low as to make this up. My beef is with the title of the article.

The thing is he changed his name from Vincenzo to Vincent when the FBI came knocking on his door when he lived in the Italian section of Chicago. The only mobster I know of in my family was my Great Grandma's live in boyfriend. He got hit while a pay phone with her. He was Irish.

My Great-Grandpa was in a "similar situation" with his last name...Our "true Sur-name" is Sebrize" but it was changed to Smith to become more "American" if you get my drift....

SC,MA,VA,MD. Then you go to states like Vermont, where there are more African Refugees than African Americans. New Hampshire and Maine (Not big refugee states) are different but still have very few. SD,ND,Idaho, not many either.
So yeah, that 13 is definitely prob accurate IMO
