Ok, so I had this thought from my other thread.

When it comes to buying jerseys with player names it's kinda a personal decision.

So what are the player jerseys you picked and why?

I'll go first:

My Browns jersey is Cribbs. Because back in the day he was the man. The return King! I loved him. He was excitement personified.

It is still my jersey I wear to the bar religiously every week to the sports bar during football season.

He was a good all around guy beyond the player who supported Cle. I remember the Cavs Champsionship parade and he was in the parade to celebrate with us. That this the definition of diehard CLE fan. So I'm happy to wear his jersey.

The only other jersey I have is a Lebron jersey that I just bought. But feel a little bitter about. But, I still love him, I won't wear it until he retires, or comes back to Cle.
But it will get worn eventually. Because Lebron <3

Beyond that I don't have any other jerseys.

I kind of want a Lindor jersey as he rules all. I just don't get to watch as many Indians games as I like. They are always too early or too late for when I'm at the bar.

ATL United is my new team. They are always on when I'm at the bar. I just don't know the players yet, so we'll see.

What player jerseys do you have and why?

Get ready for a book, with sequels, when GM lists his. rofl

I don't have any that fit anymore. I am hoping that I can get my back back into properly functioning condition, so I can drop 300# or so (OK, just a slight exaggeration, it just sometimes feels like that much) so I can wear some of my old stuff.

Maybe then I can break out my old Couch jersey? crazy lol

I'm 31 years old and have never bought, owned, or worn a jersey (besides my own in high school, college, etc. during the game). Not that I'm against people who wear them, it just never appealed to me to wear somebody else's name on my back.

Anyways, if I WERE to purchase jerseys, I'd choose:

1. Eric Metcalf
2. Bernie Kosar
3. Joe Thomas
4. Josh Cribbs
5. Baker Mayfield (I hope)
6. Lebron James
7. Michael Jordan
8. Derek Jeter

That's about it I guess

I have #5 Jeff Garcia (QB) & #54 Andra Davis (MLB).

I won both through SNEBB (Southern New England Browns Backers) half-time raffles over the years.

Although I have rarely worn them. I've worn the Garcia jersey a few times because it's bright orange (my favorite color).

During games for the last ~ 30 years, I almost always wore my one (lucky?) orange and brown Hawaiian shirt.

(relax, I hand washed it very gently after games)

This picture was from when there was still hope the Browns would be a competitive team (shortly before Dee and Jim Haslam became Browns owners)

If I had the money to spend, and if somehow there was a miraculous change in the NFL and Browns, I would buy an autographed Kosar #19 jersey.

Although I wouldn't wear it. I'd hang it on my living room wall.

I have two real:

Edwards
Jurevicius

I bought the Orange Edwards so I can wear Browns gear to Bears tailgate parties. Most assume I’m wearing a Bears jersey. In fact, I usually cover the name with the teams current #17, which was their punter for a long time.

I bought the Jurevicius in youth XL so I can play flag football in it.

After those, I have two personalized jerseys that are too big now. Well, they were too big then too I guess. The Reebox jerseys were kind of baggy while the new Nike are more form fitting. I would buy another but there hasn’t been that many opportunities to wear Browns gear in the past few years.

I owned a great looking Jim Brown jersey that fit great and looked very worn in but I sold it. To be frank, I don’t remember why I sold it.

I’m hoping this current team will force me to buy another soon (deep playoff run).

My jerseys have my name on them, home and away. I also own a real Kosar jersey, signed and shadowbox framed. Then one odd jersey is a brown Spielman. Bought it the day I went to camp, and arrived to find out about his injury. Since that, I stopped buying them.

Joe Thomas.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I would never wear a jersey w/another man's name on my back.

However, my son bought me an autographed Jim Brown jersey and a Myles Garret jersey and I built a shadow box for each. They hang in my study.

Dave Logan was my first football hero. Started watching the Browns the year AFTER he made that one handed catch.

Wish they never woulda traded him.

I have a Manziel (lol)

An old Jim Brown jersey.

Kellen Winslow

Also have a Raiders Randy Moss jersey which I got on a clearance rack for like 10 bucks.

I have a Kevin Love jersey tee shirt.

I have some NHL jerseys but no names on the back

I do love the talent the Browns are putting together. I have a feeling there will be some good jerseys for people to buy and not feel bad about in the coming years.

Kevin Mack. Only one I've ever owned and it is now too snug to wear. It was a gift from my dad. I never would have purchased one myself. Most likely never will.

I still have my Tim Couch jersey that I ordered through a sporting goods store in the summer of '99 (small-town Canada, not a lot of Browns stuff could be found), and for years had a Kevin Johnson jersey - not quite an 'official' NFL jersey.

I swam in it - it was much too large - and gave it away to a buddy of mine who's a converted, but not a passionate, Browns fan.

Never saw a Browns game there, only one Tribe game. Joe Charbeneau hit a homer that day.

Man those were some teams to watch!

Some fun facts about Eve:

Bernie was literally my hero in my teens. I have a folder somewhere in my office with cleveland plain dealer newspaper clippings of Bernie from the 80s.

One of my best friends in highschool was Gary Danieldsons baby sitter.

All the football players lived in my neighborhood.

A Browns player was my babysitter. My parents dont remember who but I have vague memories I can speculate about.

OH AND THE WORST PART: While growing up in Cleveland I never not once got to ever attend a Cleveland sporting event, because my father is a NY fan so why take us kids to a Cle game? WHY DAD WHY?

Oh well, I forgive you.

The only jerseys I still have in my possession (in storage) which, of course, don't fit anymore:

#15 Mike Phipps (Kid Size - gift from Dad when I was a toddler. He was hoping I'd grow into it.)

#17 Brian Sipe (Medium Size from Grandpa when I was 10 or so)

#19 Bernie Kosar (Large from Dad when I was a teen)

I bought myself a #92 Courtney Brown but my ex "accidentally" destroyed it in a laundering mishap.

Just wondering why this is (not mocking or calling you out on your opinion). I've heard this a lot elsewhere from other guys and I'm not sure why it's such a big deal.

We all wear clothes with designers names on them, that's almost the same thing.

Even if you did wear a Joe Thomas jersey, what message would that send that you don't like.

I'm not suggesting this is your hangup, but I've read other guys say that it's a homosexual thing. As if, the player you're wearing "owns" you or you like him "in that way".

I didn't intend to belittle anyone who does wear another man's jersey, but I can see how it would come across that way. I promise I did not say that to offend anyone.

For me, I simply take great pride in my family name. I feel very secure in who I am as a person and have never wished that I was someone else. That might be odd, but it's just how I feel.

And again, I apologize if my comment was offensive. I wasn't even thinking about other people. Sorry.

No, not at all. I didn't take it as criticism or a jab at anyone else, just wondering is all.

There's also a contingent of people that blast anyone wearing a jersey. My ex brother-in-law would walk up to anyone and ask, "Do you play for the team? If so, what position?". He would mock just about everyone for wearing a team jersey, even to a game. I never understood it.

I don't have a problem w/people wearing those jerseys. I buy them for my son and daughter.

I will say that I have a team jersey. It's an Ohio State one that I wear for good luck on game days. It just doesn't have a name on the back.

I have a Courtney Brown jersey somewhere.

I am not a jersey type guy. I usually wear a Browns polo or a Browns sweater vest, or a Browns sweatshirt, and or a Browns outerwear windbreaker.

I agree with Vers, I'm not against others wearing jerseys ... I just don't do it myself. I'll wear shirts with Browns or Buckeyes on it though

My jerseys are vanity plates and special to me. My wife made my white one up as my high school number and my name on it, and when I loved it, replaced my brown one that was falling apart. I will not own an orange on ever. I am proud to wear mine to games or to the bar with our BB club.

A little departure. We cultivated some friends in a local sports apparel and memorabilia chain store in town before they left our mall as it died. I jokingly said it was the horrible turnover in QB jerseys with the flavor of the day's name on it (like JFF after Weeden, etc.). He told me that wasn'tt the case. Then he showed me how the ex-Browns jerseys got re-worked with new nameplates over the old and numbers changed. Had to admire that fix.

speaking of which, what number is Baker? And who's the last QB to don that number

I've got three jerseys.

Only one really worked out. 1) Joe Haden (great success, got him after his rookie year), 2) Trent Richardson (total disaster), 3) Kamerion Wimbley (at least he was on the team for a little while, but didn't work great neither)

I'm gonna wait a year to get one i think. Just to see how Myles Garrett, Baker, and Denzel Ward shape up. Hopefully Baker.

I'd probably say the safest bet of a current player would be Jarvis Landry, but at a contract like his, who knows. He's at least proven though.

I don't own any jersey's, but if I did it would be a classic player who will always be remembered as a Brown. For me that would probably be Brian Sipe as he was the first Brown that I fell in love with when I was a young kid.

I would never get one of a current player simply because you never know how long they will be on the team. BUT, if I did it would either be Duke or Ogunjobi.

I'll say this: if Baker ends up being a FQB I'll buy his jersey due to the rare occasion

I keep my jerseys in numerical order in my closet. I am not home, but let's see if I can hit them all. My first jersey ever was a Eric Metcalf jersey when I was 10 years old. My second was a Cowboy Deion Sanders jersey that my dad found at a thrift store. Currently I have:

00 Dawg Pound Jersey (got this in 98 before we came back)
2 Couch
Two 2 Manziel
10 Quinn
12 Gordon
12 McCoy
15 Little
17 Edwards
19 Kosar
21 Gilbert
22 Peppers
23 Custom with my name
29 Turner
31 Green
32 Brown
34 Crowell
40 Hillis
71 Shelton
75 Erving
80 Winslow
84 Cameron
92 Brown
94 Warren
95 Garrett
97 Sheard
99 Browns

I think that is all. Only Peppers, Garrett and Gordon active. I have decided NOT to buy any more jerseys currently, with my track record.

Looking at your list, I'd probably be okay in still wearing all of them except Manziel, Quinn, McCoy, Little, Edwards, Gilbert, Green, Crowell, Hillis, Shelton, Erving, Winslow, Cameron, Brown, Warren, and Sheard. smile
