The Trump campaign wants to sell Space Force gear, and they're asking you to pick a design

President Donald Trump’s campaign wants to start selling a new Space Force themed line of merchandise, and they are soliciting votes on which design to use.

In June, Trump ordered the Department of Defense and the Pentagon to being the process of creating a sixth military branch known as Space Force.

In an email to supporters sent out this afternoon, the Trump Make America Great Again Committee asked their supporters to vote for their favorite Space Force logo design. The campaign gave six different options to choose from.



One of the proposed logos (top right) looks like NASA’s logo, except with a red background and the phrase “SPACE FORCE” instead of “NASA.” Another option (bottom left) has the same background as NASA’s logo, but features the silhouette of a space shuttle along with “SPACE FORCE.”

A particularly extraterrestrial design (bottom right) declares “MARS AWAITS,” printed above a space shuttle taking off from what appears to be a pine forest into a red sky. Trump issued a directive to NASA last December to have humans return to the Moon, and then travel to Mars and “perhaps someday, to many worlds beyond.” No mention of travel to Mars was made in reference to the proposed Space Force.

In a speech today at the Pentagon, Vice President Mike Pence laid out the Pentagon’s report on building the Space Force. The Congressionally-mandated report laid out the changes the Pentagon can make without Congressional approval to implement the president’s order to create the Space Force as a sixth branch of the military. Congress would have to approve any plan to make the Space Force a new branch. Instead, the Defense Department wants to establish two new entities that wouldn’t be military branches, the U.S. Space Command and Space Development Agency.

It’s absurd. I thought trump was going to fix healthcare, fix infrastructure, etc. Instead he’s reintrocing us to asbestos and spending money on a ‘Space Farce’.

Its a bit confusing. I heard a new branch of the military requires congress authorization, so yeah, this probably won't happen. At this point I'm not sure I want it to. Now if the goal of space force is to explore extra terrestrial existence then I'd be all for it.

Instead of generalizing and avoid the topic - why not comment on this? You agree with this? You like the spending? You think it's a high priority for the Nation? Forget that Trump is increasing spending all over the place while also cutting revenue ... just tell us if you love the idea of spending Billions or Trillions on a Space Academy.

You should use the correct term. He is cutting taxes, not "revenue". The government is not a business, and revenue is not created by simply taking money from someone else. smh.,

I wasn't going to come back in here, but I knew this one would get a ton of negative comments.

China, in particular, is reportedly working on satellite killer missiles, that could take out communication and defense satellites. If we lose those satellites, we lose much of our communication ability, the ability to see troop deployments on a battlefield, and to launch attacks successfully, not to mention everyday communications that could also easily be disrupted.

I think that this, in addition to hardening utility infrastructure, are absolute necessities. People can laugh about the designs and maybe selling merchandise, but that sure seems like a good way to raise funds voluntarily, in addition to using taxpayer money. I also seem to remember having heard the figure of $5 to $10 billion thrown around, and that's a drop in the bucket compared to our $4.1 trillion overall federal budget.

Just my $0.000002 worth .... or whatever my opinion is worth.

OK to be technically correct, which is important to some only when it doesn't come to Trump. He is reducing taxes which has the net effect of reducing income from those taxes, coupled with his increased spending which is increasing the deficit.

Trickle down economics has been tried and failed. So we know that reducing the taxes on the wealthy does NOT increase income to the government.... and interesting that you don't bat an eye at my reference to Trump increasing spending everywhere. More interesting again that you choose to play semantics over 'taxes' / 'revenue' / 'income' / 'balancing a budget' .... rather than comment on the thread Trump's amateur hour space academy.
