I want to shave my head clean, and I'm not sure how to begin. I'm pretty bald on top and for the past 10-15 yrs I've been using clippers with the "0" attachment and cropping it pretty tight. Should I just lather up and shave it like the rest of my face....or does an electric razor do a decent enough job with less risk? What do my bald brothers here do?

***just as I closed out of this, I got a pop up add for a "skull shaver" lol.

Here’s a thread I’ll have no input on. My hair is all gray, but I have a full head of it.

cut it down as low as you can with the clippers, then shave.

don't go against the grain. at the very least, not initially.

You're bald at a good time.

Lot's of decent options that are stylish.

Use a straight edge like a real man.

I've been using the smallest shoe on my clippers every two weeks or so since I was around 30. I wouldn't shave it because 1) I don't think I'd like the look on me, and 2) I have a bumpy head. I have a front to back ridge on the top and a side to side ridge in the back. There's also a couple forever skin blemishes that would be exposed to a bare razor. If I shaved my head with a razor, there would be blood. But if I were to shave it, I'd use a pre-shave lotion and the Norelco, not bare steel.

When I was Bald I would use trimmers to get it short and then straight razor to finish it off... I personally preferred to shave in the shower with my razor... so I don't do a shave almost every day (maybe every other) to keep in clean... I was bald for three years before letting it grow back... I have an autoimmune disease where my hair will fall out in patches at times,,. When it does I go bald..

I did just that...used the clippers with no attachment then used the Gillette Fusion that I use on my face. No blood, smooth as silk. It was easier than I thought. Thanks.

No idea.

I'm salt-pepper at 51 but I have a full head of hair, and not losing it anytime soon. You bald old poor hairless slobs... I like you though, because I can comb my lustrous hair with help from your gleaming, mirror-like heads.

The first few times it gets shaved I would suggest a Barber shop

No blade guard on my clippers...then use a wet electric in the shower or just any other regular safety razor (i use a gillette fusion as mentioned earlier).

The safety razors are much faster then the electric IMO. Been foing it almost 20 years and have yet to draw blood.

I gotta be honest.

I don't like the idea of being this close to instant death at any millisecond.

It's like having someone point a cocked, loaded gun at you.

Except you might survive a gun shot.

I guess you have to really trust your barber.

- Clippers with no attachments first (if I let it get long enough to require this step)
- Shaving gel (Gillette Fusion Proglide Sensitive) with a razor (Gillette Mach3 Turbo)
- Nothing too complex on the process. Go slow at first. Rinse razor with hot water or shake in a cup to get off gel and hair. I dip in cold water before returning to my head.
- Shower after, don’t soap too much because you just removed a lot of the oil already.
- Lotion to prevent dry skin (Lubriderm Men's 3-in-1 Lotion, Body, Face and Post-shave Lotion, Light Fragrance)

I could still grow a full head of hair, but it would be thinner than 10 years ago. I do it to balance my mustache and chin pubes. Plus, I’m a lot more aerodynamic now. I do everything faster.

I have toyed with it in the past once or twice. I always used bare clippers, then a razor after w/ hot water (the hotter you get the blade, the easier it will shave the hair).

Right now, I am on the opposite spectrum, I have a full head of hair, about 8inches in length. As soon as its long enough, I am going to shave it to donate to Wigs for Kids.

It's weird .... I was on morphine for my back and feet pain. My hair was quite gray. which isn't unusual at 55.

I went off of the morphine. my pain increased, (as expected) but my hair has returned to its natural color.

Really quite bizarre.

Maybe the morphine made you think your hair was gray, when it really wasn't?

I haven't either, but it's turning reddish again ... and all I use is shampoo and conditioner. (no dyes, or anything like that, except occasionally in my beard)

I just use Wahl clippers with a #1 guard every Saturday morning after my walk. I don't feel a need to shave clean.

Short hair is the bomb. I am glad I did it about 6-7 years ago.
