Broncos trying to deal Warren By Mike Klis and Bill Williamson Denver Post Staff Writers Article Last Updated: 08/12/2007 11:56:59 PM MDT
San Francisco - Broncos defensive tackle Gerard Warren did not make the trip to San Francisco on Sunday as the team attempts to trade him.
Two NFL sources confirmed Warren, who started the past two seasons for the Broncos, is on the trading block. The Broncos would pick up part of his salary, which was trimmed during the offseason. Warren, who had 51 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks last season, became expendable because he is not considered a good fit for Jim Bates' system where tackles are to primarily leverage their position and hold the point. Warren is a tackle who can penetrate the backfield.
Should Warren be traded, Jimmy Kennedy would start alongside Sam Adams at defensive tackle. Veteran Alvin McKinley and rookie Marcus Thomas would also move up the depth chart.
Warren has been bothered by a turf toe injury that hindered him last season. However, sources confirmed health was not the reason he did not make the trip.
He likely will be traded within the week for a future draft pick.
Miami and Indianapolis are among the teams who are in need of a proven defensive tackle.

Which is why they won't be looking to trade anything for ol' Chump Change!

Big (Waste Of) Money might actually have something left in the tank. After all he only tries hard when he first arrives on a team . . .

This article made me smile, especially after thinking about all those people who thought our line was good after they went to Denver...
On a second note, if they want a tackle to hold at the point of attack, why the hell did they pick up Alvin McKinley?

Rambo,, I just looked,,, read this: Quote:
Thriving out from under Browns' cloud Saturday, October 14, 2006 Denver Post
By Jim Armstrong Denver Post Staff Columnist DenverPost.com
Funny how these things work. In Cleveland, the players who comprise the heart of the Broncos' defensive line were ordinary, average guys. Underachievers, some would say. Now that they're in Denver, they're dominating opposing offenses. What gives? "Different organizations," Gerard Warren said. "You walk through that door, you think Super Bowl. You walk through the door there, you're just trying to find a victory. That's the difference." ...
I remember something about this when he went to Denver... I wonder how he'll deal with the next change in scenery?

Fact is those players sucked here and they still suck..Denver had a solid defense before those clowns wound up there.. Wonder if they still believe it..obviously Patterson got canned and after several bodies were let go the BIGGEST FRAUD of 'em all is being shipped out

3rd overall!!!! 3rd OVERALL!!! Botch's first pick for us; it really set the tone for our four-year train wreck. Wasn't the knock against him in college was that he took plays off????

Just to be fair Attack,, Courtney Brown didn't suck, he just couldn't stay healthy,,, when healthy he was a load.... well, at least I think so anyway!
It did strike me funny that even the media jumped on that.. I guess they figured that Shanahan has two superbowl wins so if he says these guys are good,,, they must be..... Oh well, I guess this proves that even a winner like Shanahan can make a mistake LOL

Courtney Brown was infuriating...look at the Chicago game in 2001. He was KILLING in that game. Then usually he'd disappear for weeks at a time. Even when he was healthy, he was hardly the dominating force he was expected to be.

Hell,Monty Hall couldn't pull off a deal with Warren.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Good luck, Big Mouthy. Good luck.

I say we wait until they cut him... then sign him to a short term deal and trade him back to them.... they'll go for it, he'd be a Cleveland DLineman!
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

Here are a few of the finer points of Big Money answering fan mail (no joke, these are on there)
Q) What are your thoughts on Romeo Crennel and your role in a possible 3-4 defense? I wish you and all the Browns good luck in 2005! Chuck Courtney, Pierpont, OH --Chuck Courtney, Pierpont, OH A) Thank you for your interest.
Q) How many tackles have u had this season? 13 was it LOL!! and u even started WOW! --Jeff Garcia, columbus, OH A) Thank you so much for viewing my web site! Please feel free to visit often. I am working out diligently this off season and look forward to a GREAT season next year. Thanks for the support.
....wow.....even Jeff Garcia was rippin on him

Haven't flexed my Limerick muscles in awhile... but dammit! This thread inspires me to shake off the rust. Two stanzas.. one each about two guys who couldn't be more different, yet yeilded about the same results for their teams:
It's a pity about Gerard Warren... 'Cause where'ere he goes, points he ain't scorin' With coaches OR fans, Once they find out the man's Just a schmuck, to whom hard work is foreign.
Courtney Brown is a guy you could like, But the Browns told him, "go take a hike" When it finally was plain That he can't play thorugh pain... -And got millions to sit on a bike.
Liked on, hated the other. Glad they're both gone.
Good luck, Big Dummy Send us a postcard from Winnepeg, once you get settled.

lol... I remember the defense on Warren was that his job was to eat up blockers and not penetrate, thats why he wasn't a bust and why his numbers wernt there.
Obviously that was BS, and the above reasoning for moving him is BS. I just find it humorous.
Thank God we have a front office now.
