Agreed that it can work both ways. When Zeke got falsely accused, I was one of the first people to speak up for him. I've seen it happen on both sides a ton of times. I also spoke up for Caleb Brantley in his situation. However, Courtney Smith doesn't seem like some crazy gold digger. Zach Smith, is a good coach, but he's not some rising star on the verge of becoming a head coach at P5 school. He's Zach Smith, her husband for 8 years. You would think that if she was in it for the money and fame, she would've made a bigger case when Zach Smith abused her in Florida in 2009.

And sometimes it really has nothing to do with the money aspect. Sometimes it's just about revenge or spite.

Being older isn't some special thing. It doesn't make you any smarter than younger people. But what it does do is give you a much longer period of time to experience situations in life. It gives you far more experiences and situations that you see first hand which allow you to view different aspects of things like this. It can work one of two ways. Sometimes it makes people more set in their ways. Sometimes it makes people realize that their views aren't the only way things can be. That sometimes there's differing aspects of a situation to consider.

And over time, rather than harden myself to a single set of "how things are", I've realized that sometimes things aren't always what they seem. I've realized that you can't only look at one side of a story. Now where I'm sure we both agree is when you have multiple accusers. When multiple women start accusing a man of something nefarious it doesn't take many of them for me to believe them.

But when it's one accuser I tend to be more cautious based on my experiences in life. Especially when there seems to be a very viable alternataive to their accusations.

Yes. The school's newspaper said they got a copy of the police report. Courtney Smith decided not to press charges on the father of her, yet-to-be-born child and her husband.

All I'm seeing is continued accusations by one woman.

That doesn't change the fact that you have one accuser that has a pattern of making statements that law enforcement has never seen fit to follow up on charges with. You can dance around that until hell freezes over if it makes you feel good. But so far it's a he said she said and even her mother doedn't believe it.

In the same county that let him off of a DUI, where he chose not to do a breathalyzer test and failed every sobriety test in a matter of moments. Hell, our County DA even said she had no idea why Powell didn't charge him with DV. The Police Department has also refused to turn over the police records, so it's impossible to tell how credible they actually found the claims. Have you been following this case at all? Or are you just letting unbiased guys like Vers post articles?

So it happened in Florida and it happened in Ohio but it's the fault of the police. Got it!

You understand if the victim decides not to press charges then the prosecutor doesn't press charges. Right?

No, I don't. Not in cases of domestic violence. It hasn't been that way for a very long time.

He was fired because he violated the restraining order she had against him, though it appears he was set up. He was to return their kid to her at some public building near where she lived but she didn't show so he drove a block or so to her house where she was standing outside waiting with a camera and took pictures as he pulled up.

Update: Apparently, saying Ohio State's investigation into coach Urban Meyer "will be finished when it's finished" means it will be finished on Sunday, Aug. 19.
Specifying previous comments that he made on WOSU, Ohio State president Michael Drake said that the working group's investigation into Meyer's handling of the domestic violence claims made against Zach Smith will be completed as planned. The investigators on the case will then prepare a report for the university's Board of Trustees to be shared in an executive session slated for next week. Following deliberations, Drake will make his decision on what, if any, course of action should be taken.
Suffice it to say, next week will have a major impact on Ohio State's football program, one way or another.

Mary Jo, famously horrible prosecutor and special investigator, is doing the job. The report is supposed to come out tomorrow to President Drake. Drake will then call a board of Trustees meeting later in the week, where they will decide the fate of Urban Meyer. So it'l be done by Friday by the latest.

Vers hasn’t been sticking up for Zach at all. He’s been objectively stating that we should wait till all the evidence from the investigation is that n before we convict anyone.

I'm actually the most objective, because I'm the only person who would rather talk about the case details than the anecdotes from family members.

Now just look at how many times she called the cops and do the math. You have nothing here really but innuendo and supposition. It's great to have "feelings" about a case with no real facts. You just role with that.

You're literally operating on the same information that I am. We are analyzing the same information. How are you so sure that you're not operating on innuendo and supposition? You rely on simple math where police convictions divided by police appearances and family drama to state that Zach Smith did not abuse his wife. I'm the only one on this forum asking Powell to release their records, and I think it's a farce, like many people do, that they are refusing to release them. I also believe the Franklin Prosecutor who said, "We couldn't charge him with a felony, because Courtney isn't pregnant nor does Zach have a prior conviction, but I have no idea why Powell didn't charge him with DV." I want to see the police report.

I think the difference is quite simple. I'm saying I have no clue if I'm right or wrong. I'm saying he could be guilty or innocent.

I'm not using the information to jump to conclusions either way or point the finger of guilt.

That's the difference.

If you want to remain neutral, you should take notes from Ted. You cannot claim to be neutral while continuing to spread personal family drama, while also ignoring said drama. If you want scream that the Mom doesn't believe her daughter, then you should also mention how her Mom texted Zach Smith to stop abusing her daughter. Neutral people don't relay one side of the story. I know this is a common misconception in today's world that's covered by CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News. But Neutrality requires one to be neutral.

Few people were even willing to mention the other side of the story. Sometimes there needs to be some balance presented when a lynch mob shows up.

As long as they realize that doing so balances out the narrative, but the subject is not the force balancing. When subjects don't get that you end up with #fair and #balanced news.

You have been on a campaign to throw the shade of guilt on the man. You don't plan to stop. Have at it. I'm sure when and if Meyer is cleared, you will continue to attack men that haven't been given due process. You have made up your mind and won't let any facts brought forth moving forward change that.
