So, in your mind, what exactly would Trump have to do to get impeached? So far I can see no reason for him to be impeached, but at what point would you think he deserves to be?

It would potentially negate the results of said investigation, but it wouldn't prevent Mueller from doing his job. It WOULD embolden anyone subject to such investigation to take the 5th, but you don't have to have a justifiable reason to do so.

In any event, I don't think he'd do it immediately if he did.

To be convicted by the senate the executive branch would have to do something so horrible, I am not sure what that would be. I do know paying hush money to a stripper/porn star and lying about it is not an impeachable offense in the eyes of the American people. Bill Clinton was acquitted by the senate and he was more popular after the whole ordeal.

So you have no answer for what you would feel a president would have to do to be deserving of impeachment. Okay.

Correct. Trump can commit a felony and the GOP led congress could care lesss. Deplorable.

Same result with a Socialist (Democrat)-led Congress. Would they be deplorable?

Probably. People focus too much on people and not their ideas.

I think people have too much hate based on politics when they don't even know the people they hate.

I don't care what words are used to describe the actions and deeds of the Trump... but quite simply he's incompetent. His ego and thuggish and bully boy behavior out weigh anything he has done that benefits the country. He is the ONLY person who continues to try to refute and deflect the gravity of Russia interfering with the election - and it is costing us the security of future elections. He changed his story on Russian collusion during his campaign a dozen times and 2 or 3 weeks ago started the "even if I did collude it's not against the law" spin ... and now he's been named by Cohen in this latest bombshell.... only the truly ignorant and asinine would continue to stand by Trump and say there's nothing wrong with what he's doing. Only the dumbest of the dumb can continue to try the Whatabout Clinton and Whatabout Obama. . . .

History will be the judge and in 40 years a generation will look back and wonder how the American public could have been so freaking stupid.

I don't hate anyone personally based on politics. I tend to find some middle ground with everything. However, I hate Trump based on who he is as a person. I know enough about him to feel he is the absolute worst-of-the-worst kind of human being. I've always had a disdain for him, long before he threw his hat into the political ring.

This is a nice article about that, I think. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/monk...m=.15e971a9ffa9

This link didn't really help me out. Maybe it will you, or others? https://law.justia.com/constitution/us/article-2/50-impeachable-offenses.html

It seems to me that there are no "definite", listed out, events that qualify for impeachment. As in: 1, 2, 3......10......50, etc.

No, it's not the dumbest of the dumb. It's simply a matter of people who refuse to be held to a different standard anymore. Unfortunately things naturally fall towards the lowest common denominator.

If the Mueller investigation truly is about the integrity of our election system and the corruptness of politicians in the highest of offices, then issues such as the IRS and Clinton's server are 100% relevant. At the very least the DNC should be investigated for screwing Bernie. I really don't care to re-litigate those, but suffice it to say, anyone who doesn't believe that has little to no credibility when they say this is about the integrity of our system and the Office of the Presidency.

And you now the damnedest thing 888?

I say this knowing full well I'LL be the one with little to no credibility during the next Dem President because we are locked in a cycle. I have zero expectation that the next Dem President will be any less corrupt than DJT (probably more so). They probably won't be as crude an individual, but much more the politician and be able to exploit the system better than DJT. And why not? Why should Dem voters care as long as their candidate comes through with what they promise?

Again, all these investigations are REPUBLICAN led.

Clinton was investigated by republicans. Trump is currently being investigated by republicans.

Mueller didn’t get appointed to investigate Clinton. He got appointed to investigate obstruction of justice by trump and whether or not there was any Russia collusion.

That has nothing to do with the dnc and Bernie. Hat has nothing to do with Clinton and her emails.

Yes, when taking in all the FACTS, it absolutely is dumb to play what about, especially when the leadership YOU voted for is in charge, and yet.....what?

Hillary got investigated by people who hate her guts, both in congress and in the fbi.

And guess what happened? Nothing. Meanwhile, the republicans are investigating one of their own, and yet look how much criminal activity was found because of it.

If all these things you listed is true, then why haven’t the republicans appointed another special counsel to look into those things? They’re in power!

And you’re definitely on an island and I’m glad you acknowledge that. Whoever the next president will be won’t be sucking up to foreign dictators or trying to cover up their collusion with Russia. You know what that means?

Whoever is elected, dem or republican, will already be 10 times less corrupt then the guy you clearly are willing to fall on a sword for.

Smh, I simply don’t get it.

Something I need to point out that is my understanding of how the special council works.

They may be charged with finding collusion, but if they find evidence of other crimes along the way, they are obligated to report them to the proper place and then they take over.

This is what Muellers team did with Cohen and to a certain degree with Manafort.

Trump and his supporters seem to think that if he hasn't been charged yet, that this is a witch hunt. it's not. It takes time to build a case.

By the way, Trump has been implicated in the Cohen wrong doing.. And trumps defense is now that Cohen lies and what he did wasn't even a crime..

Yikes.

I have certainly read a lot of comments by our resident "Outhouse" lawyers here and I have to laugh.

Seriously though, as I have said many many times in the past as certain people here jump on the "We got him", "hair on fire" bandwagon...

WATCH THE STOCK MARKET!

If they find something serious, the Market will drop 10+ percent immediately. Then it will drop 20+ percent as the story develops.

If they finally do get Trump, the Market will drop around 50 percent.

They are the guys in the know. They have Trillions of dollars on the line and they rarely miss anything.

I will continue to watch as this, the first American Coup attempt, plays out. It is quite a battle and bodies are dropping left and right.

Right.

People need to remember that nobody is getting impeached over a campaign violation. At most, trump is gonna have to cough up some cash for a fine and that’s that.

What IM interested in is the fact that Cohen has information that is relate to what mueller is looking into. I think THATS what has trump shook. Not this payment stuff, but the other things.

40, with all his nonsense, is somewhat correct here. Every time potentially damaging information comes out for ANY president, you always see some sort of reaction in the market.

Campaign violations is a joke. Sure, it’s gonna hurt politically as far as mid terms go, but that’s about it.

So now we wait and see if Cohen starts spilling the goods. Cohen has information on the trump tower meeting, and his lawyer stated that Cohen was there when don jr and trump talked about it.

That’s a big part in the obstruction/conspiracy case. Also, Cohen knows trumps financial dealings, with regards to trying to get a hotel deal done in Moscow while he was alresdy then candidate trump, as well as other financial dealings and loans. If a lot of this money is Russia related, then Houston, we have a problem.

Also, don jr and Roger Stone are still under investigation for this guccier 2.0/Wikileaks aspect.

With each case, each guilty plea, we’re getting closer to the meat and potatoes of the investigation.

If trump is already shook now, then what’s gonna happen when more news drops in a few months?

People have alresdy forgot about the trump family’s long history with Russian backed loans and other financing.

Mueller hasn’t, though.

Dang, I guess I am going to have to re-litigate a little bit.

You ask a very good question: why didn't the Republicans do anything about those issues? The answer is NOT because there was nothing there and it's NOT because crimes hadn't been committed. If you replaced HRC's name with Devil or Swish, we'd be looking at time in Leavenworth, guaranteed.

Should the current DOJ re-open and indict HRC? Absolutely. There's plenty of probable cause there. Even Comey in his recommendation not to prosecute admitted a crime had occurred.

But realistically what do you think happens if Sessions comes out and announces that? No matter how damning the evidence might be, do you honestly think that it would ever be looked at as more than a political stunt? And how many Dem supporters would have a response any different than Trump supporters in all of this?

Even lawyers "on the left" thought she was going to be indicted until his 'recommendation'. But Democrats, both politicians and voters were happy to claim "there was nothing there" "no crime was committed" even though such a claim is patently false.

The only way this cycle breaks in my estimation is for one "side" to pony up and take the high road. And by that I mean make an admission of the double standards and push past politics even if it means taking a hit in the short run to do what is right for the sake of doing what is right. I think that's only way for anyone to have credibility and to have solid footing on the high ground. And once up there, don't try to beat other people over the head with it. Instead try to get more people up there.

The investigations of ANY kind from this point ranging back over the last 15 years shouldn't ever have been based on Dems or Reps leading it. And if people in these gov't positions don't come clean with the information they are obligated to, they should be punished. They shouldn't be able to hold out knowing that if they answer "I don't know" long enough that they can take refuge in the bosom of their political party.

Who is going to the first to break the cycle? I have no clue.

My questions and criticisms of all this Trump stuff isn't because I'm trying to justify or explain away his actions. If he's not guilty of this, he's probably guilty of something else.

I'm willing to give Mueller the benefit of the doubt that he's running a legit investigation. My concern is that the hype surrounding every action is adding zeros to a check that his investigation isn't going to be able to cash. What happens when the most they can get on Trump is some kind of campaign violation, not the hiring of Russians to hack voting booths? You think anyone is going to risk a Consitutional crisis trying to see if it's possible to indict a sitting President? What happens when Trump is impeached, but not removed from office? There's no way you can convince me (at this time) that Dems would find that an acceptable outcome.

Let's say Trump voters did what you guys want them to, to turn on Trump. They become just as fervent in Mueller nailing him as the Dems. Then what? Why should I or anyone else believe that when it's the Dems turn to step up to the plate to go after corruption in their own candidate? The actions of the Dem Party and their voters over the last 10yrs show very little to make anyone believe that they would.

My previous post is now irrelevant LOL

Ok, let's say the Trump tower meeting is about game planning with Russians..

-if it's about seeing what intel they have on intel.. no one will care

-if it's about creating a disinformation campaign... a few more people will care, but not so many because people will have a hard time separating the difference between a foreign based disinformation campaign and what already occurs between our 2 parties.

-if it's about using Russians to hack in to the DNC servers and/or hacking polling station results, THEN people will care. But there hasn't been any basis for that allegation. You need a lot more than Trump won to associate him with that kind of activity. No polling results have been hacked. To date it's all about whether or not voters were persuaded and there's no way to prove that

But short of that?

i disagree a bit. "looking at time"? you and i would ALREADY be sitting in prison awaiting trial lmao.

but yea, i feel you on that. but pit says it all the time; there's justice for rich people, and then there's justice for everyone else.

but you're essentially enforcing my beliefs. look what you said about sessions and if he reopened the clinton investigation and how it would be viewed.

i absolutely agree with that, but i also agree because it would absolutely be a political stunt in an attempt to run interference and/or take heat away from trump.

........but doesnt that SAME reasoning give validity with regards to why obama didn't decide to tell the public that trump was under investigation during the campaign season?

because if he did that, it wouldve been perceived as politically motivated by your fellow conservatives. but yet your fellow conservatives have even gone so far as to blame obama for not telling the public about trump being under investigation.

is that NOT what you and i both agree on as to why Comey definitely deserved to get canned? he played politics with regards to announcing the investigation into clintons emails, when the FBI director has no business pulling that nonsense.

but yet your fellow conservatives cheered when that announcement was made.

government is only a reflection of the people. so when you're commenting your disappointed about how the politicians and DoJ allegedly act, im only looking at the people and noticing that they're pulling the same crap as the politicians.

so you know what that tells me? maybe the people as a whole, conservatives specifically, should do a better job vetting the candidates they vote for.

and right now, this whole situation was always gonna be sloppy. why?

bro, we've NEVER been in this situation before. we never had to deal with the thought of a POTUS conspiring with a foreign adversary in an attempt to swing the election in his favor.

everything going down is completely new, which is why i have a hard time trying to play moral equivalency and whatabout with regards to this investigation. it just cannot be compared.

i mean from nixon, both clintons, etc, they might be corrupt as all hell, but atleast they're OUR corrupt politicians. right now there's a serious possibility that we have a puppet in charge of our country, under the direction of our greatest enemy.

thats absolutely terrifying, and there's simply nothing with clinton or even nixon that can is comparable to this.

thats why i said you shouldnt be going down with this ship. its easy to go down with the ship with nixon or clinton or whoever, cause its mainly domestic and we have plenty of corrupt businessmen and politicians we deal with all the time.

but this? we're talking about treason here, bro. treason with russia, of all countries.

im sorry but i will never agree with you on this idea that there's valid moral equivalency or whatabout here. its absolutely false.

But short of that?

all of that depends. again, failing to get dirt on your opponent from a russian is still conspiracy, imo.

by that logic, why are there attempted murder charges on the books? i mean if i try to kill someone, but didnt succeed, no big deal, right?

if i break into your house, but dont steal anything, am i still going to jail? or are we all good?

everybody, btw, is right that the meddling aspect is gonna be impossible to pin trump on. you're right, everybody spreads propaganda and all this. its normal.

hacking is where the line is drawn and you know it. that goes WAY beyond simple meddling. and you need to remember that there were attempted hacks on voting machines. this is a fact. just because they didnt succeed doesnt mean it shouldnt be looked into criminally.

we have russian intel officers indicted already. if we have americans indicted that have ties to those intel officers in the trump campaign/administration, then we have a MAJOR problem.

My previous post is now irrelevant LOL

Didn't you just create a thread saying trump has nothing to do with that....

Willit has never believed Trump had anything to do with that. Nor does he still believe Trump had anything to do with that anymore.

Yes, I agree the market reacts. I don’t agree they market would react that dramatically. I definitely through in that “somewhat” in that post too. Remember that when you’re continuing play gotcha.

Cohen lawyer backpedals on Trump-Russia claims, as bombshell reports called into question

Michael Cohen’s lawyer is backpedaling on bombshell claims he made in recent weeks about his client's knowledge of President Trump's supposed awareness of Russian efforts to influence the 2016 presidential election.

Lanny Davis, a longtime Clinton confidant who now represents the ex-Trump attorney, had been a source for reports saying his client had information that the president knew in advance about the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting involving Donald Trump Jr. and Russian attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya. Davis also suggested that Cohen had “direct knowledge” of Russia hacking into emails of Democratic power players.

But now, Davis is walking back his statements, telling The Washington Post that he “should have been more clear” that he “could not independently confirm what happened.”

How dare he? Trump is the only one allowed to walk all his crap directly back up his butt.

I’m betting the market will continue to grow. Trump will have little to no effect now. He’s given the 1% their tax cuts and pacified the GOP with their SCJ nominee. Got rid of everything but Obamacare. The GOP will be happy to sacrifice him now. LOL
