It must be hard for haters like you and Clem to go on and on daily as you run down the President only to have him make you look so foolish with Win after Win.

I liken it to the Mayor who hates a certain Firefighter and wants him fired.

The Mayor cries every day this guy must go, he is no good only to see on the News that night as the Firefighter carries a child to safety from a burning house.

A week later, the Mayor doubles down with his hate of the Firefighter only to see the News as that Firefighter is carrying one child under each arm while the back of his coat is smoking.

It must be very frustrating and emotionally compromising to fight so hard against a proven winner, only to look foolish in the end...
Time
After Time
After Time

Sad.

I have no doubt that eventually they will get President Trump as no man I have ever known could survive such an onslaught as he is facing.

Like the infamous Kremlin Prosecutor once told Stalin, "Give me the man and I will give you the crime."

You do realize that there isn't a deal in place right? That nothing is settled yet, right? You sound like a rooster crowing in the middle of the night. Daylight isn't here yet 40.

You made the same mistake on the N. Korea deal. When are you going to realize you can't trust a damned thing Trump says?

Mexican official says NAFTA talks with the US have 'concluded,' deal announcement coming

-Officials were in Washington trying to hammer out the details as the Trump administration pushes to remake the 1994 agreement between the U.S., Mexico and Canada.

-There was some hope that a new NAFTA could be solidified before Mexico's government turnover on December 1.

A Mexican official told CNBC on Monday that trade talks with the U.S. have wrapped up, adding that an announcement could come later in the day.

The comment from the Mexican official comes just a day after Mexican Economy Minister Ildefonso Guajardo said the two sides were likely "hours" away from reaching a deal. "We've continued making progress," Guajardo told reporters.

President Donald Trump later tweeted that a deal with Mexico was "looking good."

The deal with N. Korea was looking good also,,,,

My suggestion, is with this president anyway, wait until you see the end result.

As is almost always the case with Trump, he wants to tell everyone about all the good news, even if it isn't yet real and vetted.

Remember, whatever deal Trump says he has, must be confirmed and approved by Congress...

Well the DOW shows that big money is happy with the move.

Probably letting businesses go there and provide jobs but pay US taxes... That way the Government gets theirs, Mexico gets the jobs, and the businesses get to pay lower US taxes.

Speaking of trade wars, let’s not forget this lil bit:

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/u-government-pay-4-7-193205069.html

CHICAGO (Reuters) - The U.S. Department of Agriculture said on Monday its farm aid package would include $4.7 billion in direct payments to farmers to help offset losses from retaliatory tariffs on American exports this season.

The bulk of the payments, $3.6 billion, would be made to soybean farmers. That amounts to $1.65 per bushel multiplied by 50 percent of expected production, Undersecretary for Farm Production and Conservation Bill Northey said on a conference call.

China has traditionally bought about 60 percent of U.S. soybean exports. But it has been largely out of the market since implementing tariffs on U.S. imports in retaliation for the Trump administration's tariffs on Chinese goods.

"An announcement about further payments will be made in the coming months if warranted," Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue said.

The aid package, announced at $12 billion in July, will also include payments for sorghum of 86 cents per bushel multiplied by 50 percent of production, 1 cent per bushel of corn, 14 cents per bushel of wheat, and 6 cents per pound of cotton.

Payments for hog farmers will be $8 per pig multiplied by 50 percent of Aug. 1 production, while dairy farmers will receive 12 cents per hundred weight of production, Northey said.

Sign-up for the program will begin on Sept. 4, to coincide with the 2018 harvest, and end in January. Farmers will need to present production evidence to collect payments and payments are capped at $125,000 per person.

The program will also include $1.2 billion in purchases of commodities, including pork and dairy products, to be spread out over several months, Undersecretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs Greg Ibach said.

"The specific commodities to be purchased are those that have been impacted by the unfair tariffs that have been imposed by other nations," he said.

The program will also include some $200 million for a trade promotion program to develop new markets.

The package has been seen as a temporary boost to farmers as the United States and China negotiate trade issues. It has divided Republicans, some of whom favor free trade and were troubled by what they viewed as the kind of welfare programs their party has traditionally opposed. It has also faced skepticism from some farmers, a key Trump constituency.

"Short-term aid does not create long-term market stability," said Doug Schroeder, Illinois Soybean Growers vice chairman, in a statement after the announcement. "Producers need trade, not aid.”
_________

Economy is so good....we need bailouts? And they wouldn’t have needed a bailout if cadet bone spurs didn’t start a trade war.

Canada re-enters trade talks with US after Mexico deal

https://www.thestar.com/business/2018/08...-us-mexico.html

WASHINGTON—Canada and the U.S. agreed Tuesday that one of NAFTA’s most significant hurdles — defining the content rules of North American autos — may have been resolved by Monday’s side deal between the Trump administration and Mexico.

The White House is calling on Canada to endorse what President Donald Trump has described as the North America Free Trade Agreement’s replacement, by the end of the week. Trump has already rebranded it the “United States-Mexico trade agreement.”

Top members of Canada’s negotiating team made an abrupt return to NAFTA talks in Washington where they face stiff pressure from Trump to join the deal his administration struck Monday with Mexico.

Both Larry Kudlow, the director of Trump’s National Economic Council, and U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross turned up the heat on Canada’s negotiators during televised interviews prior to Canada’s return.

The pressure comes one day after the U.S. president again blasted the Canadian dairy industry.

Serious differences remain on other issues, including agriculture, how to settle disputes, and a U.S. proposal for a sunset clause.

From the Wall Street Journal

Wall Street Journal: New Trump-Mexico trade deal ‘worse in many ways’ than NAFTA
BY MICHAEL BURKE - 08/28/18 09:47 AM EDT 1,085
2,897

The Wall Street Journal’s editorial board on Tuesday criticized President Trump over the trade deal he announced Monday with Mexico, calling it “notably worse in many ways” than the North American Free Trade Agreement.

The editorial board pointed to the exclusion of Canada from the deal as one of its shortcomings. The U.S. and Canada are still in negotiations.

To break up the current three-country trade agreement, Trump would need approval from Congress, something he is unlikely to get.

Another problem with the deal reached Monday, according to the Journal’s editorial board, is that it strips protections from most U.S. investors in Mexico. The editorial board also criticized the deal for imposing “new red tape and costs” on the auto industry, noting that the deal says that cars sold in North America need to have 75 percent of their content made there to avoid tariffs.

“This is politically managed trade, and its economic logic is the opposite of Mr. Trump’s domestic deregulation agenda,” the Journal wrote.

The upsides to the deal, in the Journal’s eyes, are that it “includes an extension on data protection for biologic drugs to 10 years from five” and it steps “back from its demand for a five-year ‘sunset’ that was essentially a backdoor way to dampen cross-border investment.”

Trump announced the deal from the White House on Monday, calling it a “big day for trade.”

Trump also cast doubt Monday on whether Canada would be included in a renegotiated deal. Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland will travel to Washington, D.C., on Tuesday for negotiations.

“The deal announced Monday has moving parts and there is still time to make improvements before it is signed and sent to Congress,” the Journal’s editorial board wrote. “We’re glad to see Mr. Trump step back from the suicide of Nafta withdrawal, but on the public evidence so far his new deal is worse.”

Canada rejoins NAFTA talks as US autos tariff details emerge

-Canada's top trade negotiator praised Mexico's trade concessions on autos and labor rights as she rejoined NAFTA talks.
-U.S. lawmakers warned, however, that a bilateral U.S.-Mexico trade deal would struggle to win approval in Congress.
-Trump warned on Monday he could proceed with a deal with Mexico alone and levy tariffs on Canada if it does not come on board with the revised trade terms.

Trump already offered that deal and was rejected. He offered that ALL tariffs be ended and everyone deal straight up.
Then Trudeau attacked him on his way to North Korea.

Boom! US economy logs best performance in nearly 4 years
U.S. economic growth was a bit stronger than initially thought in the second quarter.
It was the economy's best performance in nearly four years.

No, '40. Trump offered HIS deal, take it or leave it. Interesting to note that a sore point with Trump is the dairy issue. Wisconsin has a positive goods and services surplus with Canada. We allow in 10 or 15% of our needs when actually we can produce more than we need. Most states have a positive trade surplus with Canada...

Trudeau is running for reelection and can't afford to lose the dairy vote.

That is where the truth lies.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Canada’s supply-management system — often known as the dairy cartel — is a combination of three market-rigging mechanisms: centralized price-setting, allocated production quotas, and exorbitant tariffs. It’s a complete racket that drives massive profits to a relatively small group of largely corporate farm operations. But the dairy industry operates a slick, well-funded lobby and propaganda operation, as the sugar industry does in the United States, that portrays dairy producers as fresh-scrubbed mom-and-pop proles waking up early to ensure Canadians have food on their table. One also hears ridiculous scaremongering to the effect that any relaxation of the supply management system would compromise food safety — as if Wisconsin and New Zealand were selling Canadians dairy moonshine from radioactive cows.

Come on already, keep it honest.

Dairy farmers, who number about 11,000, have an outsized influence in Canadian politics, being concentrated in the vote-rich provinces of Ontario and Quebec.

Trudeau’s Liberals are tied with the main opposition Conservatives in polls. A trade war, and the resulting massive job losses, would be a political failure for the 46-year-old prime minister who came to power in late 2015 promising to improve ties with Washington.

Oh, and one other thing...

Canada's Trudeau says NAFTA deal possible by Friday

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that a NAFTA deal may be reached before Friday, but only if it is also a good deal for Canada.

OK, but how about the U.S. government should subsidize the dairy farmers. You know, like is done with other farmers being paid not to produce...

Friday would be nice, but a deal in 3-1/2 days when the Mexico/U.S. agreement took how long? And does anybody know those details?
