BEREA -- The Browns got one of their starting defensive tackles back just in time for the regular season.
Hue Jackson said that Trevon Coley will not play against the Lions on Thursday, but he returned to practicing with the team on Tuesday. Coley suffered a high ankle sprain early in training camp on Aug. 2 and had not practiced since.
“He is back," Jackson said after Tuesday's practice. "It was good to see him at practice. I am not going to put him out there this week [against Detroit]. We are going to make sure that he is ready. His injury was a little bit different. We will make sure that he is ready for Pittsburgh. I feel very encouraged that he will be ready to go.”
Barring any setbacks, Coley should be ready for the season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 9th.
Coley made the team in 2017 and ended up becoming one of the starting defensive tackles. He started 15 games and finished with 41 tackles, including two sacks, two passes broken up and a fumble recovery. Coley led the Browns defensive linemen in tackles.
There’s more ... im sick of copying and pasting ...
It's only my opinion but Baker is playing to what you would expect from a rookie Qb better than any of the other rookies and I don't think it's even close. Tyrod is as good a mentor as one can ask for. With the talent he has around him along with his conservative style he plays is gonna give us a middle of the pack statistically offense. Added to a very good defense we gonna have a great year to be a Cleveland Brown fan. Hop in the water and enjoy the sun because it has been a long time since we have had the talent and potential to succeed as we have now. Don't forget your tanning oil!!
I've turned 180 Starboard. On my way back to pick you up Dawg!
This thought has been clanging around my head for about a week. Can you remember the last time the Browns had so many first-year players set to make an impact?
You guys are setting yourselves up for a big fall. And we all know what comes after reality sets in.
Just for once, I wish fans would be realistic and allow things to occur at their natural pace.
The players and team are overrated every freaking year and when reality sets in, those same optimistic fans are calling for people to be fired.
So, we fire people and "oh man, these new guys get it." And, "is it just me, or does it really feel different this time?" And, "we have the talent, we just need the right coaches."
Next, comes the roster upheaval and so many guys that we were developing are sent packing and the new guy brings his guys in to fit his system. People are okay w/that because they say things like "we have to change the culture" and "this new system is so much better."
The next year, hopes increase and we start overestimating the roster and the team again. Hopes are high. But, the team isn't quite ready and it shows on the field of play. The rumblings of more firings gather steam.
It never freaking ends.
I think this organization is on the right track. I think our owners are supporting the FO and coaching staff. I think we have a decent FO. I think we have a good coaching staff. I think we upgraded the talent. I think we brought in some vets that will help. I still think we are inexperienced and haven't had time to form cohesiveness. I think we have to learn how to win. I think we are weak at a couple of crucial areas. I think we will see an improvement this year, but it's not going to be as great as some of you are thinking it will be.
I also think that more firings will only derail the process. Stay the course.
Diam, I think the regular season is a category 1 hurricane, situated about 500 miles off the coast and projected to head toward your isle of optimism about 12 days out, over warm waters to strengthen, let's see if it changes course and heads away, or makes direct landfall on the island of optimism.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Just clicking... I'm not saying we gonna win 11 or 12 games and compete for a Superbowl birth. Optimism on a 0-16 team can be small. I'm saying we have the potential to be a solid team. It's justified optimism people. Don't forget your sunglasses because the sun sure is bright!
You dont have to win every game just the next one!
Most teams deal with injuries as adversity. We have dealt with:
- Josh Gordon's rehab situation - Antonio Callaway's legal issue - Mychael Kendrick's insider trading felony - Hard Knocks cameras - A rape allegation in two of our players' apartment
And that's just the past two weeks!!
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
Anyone know anything more with the Kendricks situation? Is he likely to be suspended? Just only now heard of it...figure you guys here would have a better idea.
Purple, and Arch, thanks for getting me up to speed. Just goes to show you that guys can get caught up in BS because of their friends. I hope coming this close to having it spill on to them will be a lesson learned. It doesn't sound like any violence resulted from the encounter. Consent could be an issue and that's all the matters legally.
I agree with you Vers, my hopium has dropped off significantly in the last few weeks.
I just don't think Tyrod is going to deliver what everyone hopes...I think we will get what everyone in Buffalo hated.
I know teams work on specific things during the preaseason games, but Taylor doesn't really seem to push the ball up the field, and I think, if that is indeed the case, than Jarvis (100 catches a year man) is going to get very frustrated with him....especially if we are not winning. I don't maybe Jarvis will appreciate more 3yrd passes.
I think our oline is patch work and hope they can gel, but man, they have the characteristic of a sieve right now.
I thought our passing game might be a strength, Landry, Njoku, Gordon, Johnson, wow....but, again Gordon is showing to truly be a head case more than a pot head, and I am not sure the oline can protect the QB to allow a passing game to develop.
Anyway, I agree the ship is headed in the right direction and there is reason for optimism, but I think we hit stormy seas before the clouds clear and the sun comes out.
Yep ... gauge my optimism on July 20th and it's all-time high
gauge it two weeks ago and it's a tad lower
gauge it today and I'm kinda bummed honestly ... feels like same ol' Browns

I am sure some folks thought my earlier post about expectations was negative, but it wasn't.
I think we've made a ton of good moves. I think we have he right people in place. I think we are young and improving. I just don't think we are quite there yet.
19 members on the ferry that is making it's way to the Isle of Optimism have just asked KWhip to turn the ferry around and deposit them upon solid ground.

i dunno why but this had me thinking about that infamous vikings boat party scandal.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

Its OK ... its OK ... I remember U saying once back in the day that u had a boat ... well i was in the navy and u know what sailor ... its not always smooth sailing ... there’s gonna be a few bad days mixed in on the ride .. BUT.once u get to the Isle ... just remember ...
The sky is always blue and the waters always warm on the Isle ...
Kwhip’s got plenty of room for our 18 or 19 dawgs who simply suffered from buyers remorse after the devastating loss of Gordon Gecko whenever they decide to head back out ....
I’m gonna make a serious reply to your other post later today ... all BS aside .. not that your gonna agree ... *L* ... there are a few things no ones really mentioned that are reasons to have more faith in the O ... there legite points and reason for hope ... witch is optimism ...

Suspension??? I think he is actually looking at Time AWAY, all be it White Collar away time. But hard to play from inside the Gates of Freedom...
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!
I think that he's looking at both jail time along with a suspension. (conduct detrimental to the NFL)
I don't see him being on an NFL field this coming season.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.
I would be curious how the board would vote today vs pre-draft on who will be the best player (the poll was #1 pick, but subsequently that would be the same as best player).
Here were the results... I wonder if any of the Darnold/Rosen fellas would switch to Baker...
I still think that Darnold is going to be great ..... but I am more convinced, than I was before the draft, that Baker could be, as well.(and I have always thought that he could be a solid QB)

no opinion change for me ... Darnold was (and still is) the guy over Baker

I'll give you TWO right now.
1) Almost ZERO Delay of Game Penalties.
2) Almost ZERO False Start Penalties.
That's INCREDIBLE with a new offense, players and QB.
