Defense still playing great even with bottom of our roster. I think that is testimony of the effort and good coaching we have.
Orchard on the bubble might have done enough it all depends on the numbers. I like him much more than #50 Smith. Nassib should be a keeper. He's always been solid!
QB, don't know what the heck Terrell Davis is talking about. Mayfield was...OK.
His passes first off were all super accurate. Every WR/RB got the ball in his hands perfectly so that they would not miss a step for YAC...ALL BALLS THROWN the only incompletions I remember were balls he threw away and those that were dropped.
Cajuste, a bubble guy, had a penalty on ST first kick off and he dropped a ball as he turned his head upfield early and didn't secure the ball. Outside of that he does create separation as a TE I'm afraid not enough to stay on the roster. POSSIBLY Devalve goes on the PUP list and he temporarily has a roster spot.
What to do with Dayes? RB good hands, good RB had a great run as he chose to hit that LOS hard and fast immediately upon getting the ball...woosh second level on a full run untouched and out ran everyone to the Endzone.
I know its preseason and its the infamous game #4. But still I was impressed with the overall effort of our team. We had giddyup while the Lions played mostly with their Heads down and no effort needed to play. Feel bad for Patricia although I have NO CLUE for their starters. We all know Stafford is a good QB.
Some guys I really like Sheldon and Currie but odds are not good for them, I think they are good ST guys.
I think I saw Burgess get a little hurt, hope he makes the team. Board WR returner really fought hard on ST for a spot. I also like Scott (10)
Where did this kid Faulk come from. Thought he had a good game. McKinney 47 had a good/bad game bubble guy.
I think this is the best team we will cut meaning in the past so many of these guys we are cutting would not only make the team but start for us.
tough couple of days coming up.
What did you all see?

I saw the Browns execute a screen pass...the Cleveland Browns...haven't seen that in a long, long time.
Baker had ONE missed throw...ONE. On the pass to the endzone where he overthrew the WR.
Baker again threw some very, very impressive passes last night. Very. He stands ready in the pocket like a vet QB. He looks in-command and is not flustered.
Dayes looks like that classic guy who takes a couple years to develop and then becomes a good contributor for a relatively long time in the league.
Cajuste gets open...but that last drop may bring on the Turk.
I saw Harrison with the start at LT but didn't notice anything (that's good)...I think Robinson started at RT? Coleman at RT with the last team?
I saw a lot of Brogan which I liked better than seeing a bunch of Stanton.
I wish I'd seen our starters play the first series or two.

That screen pass was one of the nicest Bake threw all pre-season ... he lofted it over the DLman’s out stretched arms into Hilliards or Dayes who were only about 7 yards away from Bake with the defended in between .. Thats really hard to do in that amount of space ... requires an incredible amount of touch ... that was REALLY REALLY IMPRESSIVE IMO ...

I posted this on the other what did I see thread.... People say Baker holds the ball to long but it isn't at the expense of taking a sack. He holds the ball when he has time. When the pressure arrives he either gets out of the pocket or makes the throw. In the end he seems to make the right decision with the ball. His pocket presence is uncanny. Baker impresses me with the little things, like the soft toss in the screen, the pass where he stood in the pocket and laid a perfect pass on the crossing route. The enzome pass to. Callaway was a bit overthrown but it was placed where either the WR or no one was gonna get it. All in all he is improving because he studies the game by putting in the time and now time is on his side so he can sit and keep getting better. I though that Chubb showed good vision and quick feet. He improves each game. Dayes looked quick. I like him. I'm not as impressed with the next guy as others are. Callaway didn't get many opportunities. Defense was solid. There is gonna be some unhappy people and fans when final cuts come. We gonna trim some nice talent for the first time since I can remember.

Its preseason with backups its not like he has timing down and all receivers are running correct crisp routes. I am sure its a bit of a sandlot game in that receivers are trying to get open however they can. He was waiting for that to happen on occasion. Your point is correct he didnt take sacks so a great positive. I am sure with starters and practice and chemistry in the future he will get rid of the ball with speed as needed in a real game game.

Here's what I saw...
Baker continues to impress. In situations where the receiver is not open, he opts to get rid of the ball.
I know it was just the backups but the defense looked great again. Through 3 quarters the D was pitching another shutout (excluding that muffed punt.)
I really like Ratley. Hope he makes the team.
Brantley had 3 QB hits.
I think Mike Jordan will be cut.
I like Dayes over Hilliard if we keep a 4th RB.

Anyone see the pass that was dropped over the middle by the guy that went up to get it? I believe it was bakers second pass.
Was a complete rocket of a throw. wonder where the haters are on his arm.....

Watching the game, then the Mayfield cut-up video in the “Post-game” thread, I think the Mayfield/Brees comparison holds water. They look/play similarly to my untrained eye.

I saw a QB that some say has a weak arm drill passes with velocity and precision.
I saw Dayes do what he has done before. Look very good in preseason, but when the real bullets fly looks mediocre at best. Guy is a very good ST player though.
I saw a rookie LT stonewall and flatten guys continuously. He could very well be the starting LT by the end of the year.
I saw the Browns depth show up.
This team looks like it has a mission. Something that has been missing for decades.
RIP, Jim

I also don't have the footwork/technique expertise that others have to give an in-depth appraisal, and his performance wasn't against first team defensive players. That said, he looked like a real life LT to me.

He is nasty and strong. I really believe in time we will see him start at LT, and Bitonio will be back at LG. He was manhandling his guy, while keeping his feet.

I looked the guy up, #49 Freddie Bishop. I didn't realize he is a starter, but Harrison completely neutralized him.

UDFA. He played for West Georgia after being released from the Texas A&M program. I did some research on that too. I can't find a definitive single reason for getting kicked off the team other than "violation of team rules." It's worth noting that Charlie Strong was the HC, and he's famous for insisting his players have high moral character. (BTW, I hold Strong in high regard.) Best I can figure is that he was releases more on a 3-strikes policy than a single note-worthy event.
Edited to add: The reason he went undrafted, how do you project a guy who dominated at West Georgia?

Great to see the screen work! I also am encouraged by us running the corners, the wide stuff to run the DL down some and use clock. That was like almost unheard of last year, and we had the record to prove it. Pitches and sweeps will force some folks out of the stacked up boxes. Especially if you seal it off. Shades of Pruitt!

Is he starter material, Vers? I haven't seen enough to make that determination, bro. It's hard to tell on TV sometimes. You gotta pick up on bits and pieces over a series of games. I think we have good coaches in Hue, Haley, and Wylie and good FO w/guys who know football. I trust this group to make the right decision on who to play.

How did we acquire Harrison? I thought we drafted him this year UDFA Someone mentioned him pre-draft as one of the few LTs in the draft who might actually play LT as a pro, but that he would be a late-round flier due to his school and competition level. I watched what little tape was available and he clearly dominated...like a man among boys. But that was a problem, how would he look against SEC/Big10/PAC12 level players. I was surprised that he wasn't drafted, and really surprised when he was announced as signing with Cleveland within minutes of the end of the draft. I have been harboring hope that he will eventually be Joe's replacement.

He also had some legal trouble in the past that contributed to him being undrafted. But what? All I have been able to find is the rather cryptic "team rules violations." One article speculated a failed drug test, but offered no proof and there was no NCAA sanction. Another article mentioned that when he submitted his transcripts of previous education to Texas A&M, he failed to list an on-line course that qualified as credits. Both articles said that he got suspended from the team multiple times in rapid succession, but again, no specific 'charges' to suggest legal trouble, just rules violations. It is, of course, possible that since my research was limited to about 20-30 minutes, I missed something relevant. But usually, something major is easy to find.

Didn't notice Harrison at all which in OL world that is a good thing. That would be amazing if we got a legit LT starter out of no where. Good job from our scouts to pick him up.
For those talking about haters and all about Mayfield's arm. Really haven't heard much from anyone on that regard. Maybe Ratsaplan early on in the preseason. But a 5 year old kid can tell you his arm is strong. What I like about Mayfield besides his incredible accuracy. I can't stress enough the advantage WRs can get with catching passes in stride as opposed to what we are use to seeing with WRs having to stop their momentum to catch a pass, yes its completed but no chance for YAC that way. Especially for RBs to catch a short pass on the run. He also will throw the ball away from the Defender to best help the WR from not getting hit...ok enough about accuracy lol I love his ability in a nano second to make the correct decision to have a pass with touch or drill one in. Throw it Low or throw it high. Man its so good to finally have a real Franchise QB prospect. Yeah it would be nice if he grew 2-3 inches but the kid is strong and elusive that part of his game I'm actually awed by. So many times I'm like well there's a sack and then poof he gets out of the grasp like a magician. I've seen him in college get rocked by some hits where I thought that's it he's out...and he comes back with determination. Guy is all I would want for our Franchise to be.
