Admits not like white people...admits to not wanting g to associate with white people...admits to hood being a hot bed of a time white racism...says there are varying types of white people....
If any white person said anything like he did and fessed up to his younger opinions and attitudes they would forever be ostracized...they couldn't hide behind the "I grew up defense"....they receive the "once a racist always a racist" label...
Yea I took the bait....it has been 3 to 4 days since this was hitting news feeds and the whites are racist crowd has been silent on the King...I know it was basically a trap to label anothervwhite guy racist for posting about him....I can har it know....his views were justified and had a lot legit rationale.
Lebron James point went completely flying over your head.
Which is not surprising whatsoever, unfortunately.
As somebody who went through the same adjustment, I completely get what Lebron James said.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
No offense, but I think it is lame to question LeBron's character. He was speaking of how, when, and why he didn't like white people. That isn't rare in locations similar to where he was raised. A lot of it stems from lack of trust and resentment.
It is not dissimilar to the viewpoints of many adolescent whites in suburbia and rural areas.
The take-away is that LeBron has grown as a human being. He is doing great things. He helps his community. He helps our children. He has lived a squeaky clean life despite the issues he faced growing up and also considering how many pro athletes find themselves in trouble due to the lifestyle.
LeBron is also making political and social commentary through positive channels. He is not disrespecting this country. He is addressing very real concerns that minorities face in this country.
Make no mistake, blacks still face a lot of bias, prejudice, and discrimination in this country. LeBron is speaking about these issues in an intelligent manner and using the proper channels to do so.
I think he is a great humanitarian and I am not going to punish him for the beliefs he had when he wasn't an adult.
Honestly when Lebron left for miami I quit caring whatever else he had to say since. I mean it's great he used that trade to stack things for cleveland, so that when he came back all dramatic like, he had a loaded deck. Yeah he does some nice charities but at the same time he makes sure they get lots of publicity to the point he will have three major markets all catering to his whim. He is a brilliant businessman but I think 90% of his charities are just building up his brand. To me he is way to egotistical for me to ever like being around him.
That is not to take away his achievements cause he certainly deserves them. I just don't like how he so easily manipulates people.
You can't fix stupid but you can destroy ignorance. When you destroy ignorance you remove the justifications for evil. If you want to destroy evil then educate our people. Hate is a tool of the stupid to deal with what they can't understand.
If a white man markets his brand legally and gives to charities, he is an intelligent entrepreneur who has a sense of moral responsibility.
Contrarily, if a black man does the same exact things, he is self-serving, egotistical, and manipulative.
This sort of double standard is why so many intelligent blacks are disgusted w/the norms in this country. I happen to agree w/them on this particular point.
Lebron was thrust into adulthood right out of high school....right into the trappings of fame, glory, power and money. That he was able to stay out of trouble, maintain an incredible work ethic, sustain a marriage and raise children is remarkable in this day and age. He earned the right to voice an opinion.
Now this song is ringing in my head.:
And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul. - John Muir
Lebron James had to learn how to trust white people at his private Catholic high school because he was 'so institutionalized from growing up in the hood'
This sounds reasonable to me.
Sounds very candid. Not racist.
I'd even say laudable. Pointing-out the black-racism-towards-whites problem that pervades society.
Why should someone be judged for their past attitudes, if they have since changed their attitudes?
It's irony at its finest. The same people who preach the "pull yourself up by your boot straps" and say things like "learn to leave that ghetto mentality behind" are the same exact people who throw out examples of how someone "used to think" after they do.
You can't make this crap up! Well, I guess you can because they do it.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I was going to reapond t thos post but you pretty much wrote my thoughts.
I have zero problem woth what Lebron said , he was sayijg that he was wrong about white people until he got to be around them and get to know some.
And if someone said, " I grew up and didnt know any black people, and only judged them by the negative stereotypes that were told to me, but when I was 14 I was sent to a mixed race school and got to know black people and made black friends and realize they are just people , some good, some bad" there would be nothing wrong with that.

Agreed. It just slays me that we have people dogging blacks no matter what the hell they do.
I dont know, and say this as someone who doesnt really like Lebron all that much. I mean I dont hate him or anything , but I kind of viewed him like an ex who I got along with ok, and was appreciative of things she was doing in the current , but still remembered the BS she pulled before. I guess it is a " I forgive, but dont forget" was thrilled to have Lebron back and thrilled he helped us get a title, but was never my favorite Cav. But I am off point now.
I am not sure if it is a desire to put blacks down, I kind of feel it is an attempt at playing the victim. It is just looking for something to point at and be offended. Especially if it is someone who has put Trump down. Look around at anyone who has spoke out against Trump. all of a sudden they are over rated as an actress, or they are racist , ETC... they are tore down. SO Lebrin said some negative things against Trump. so now everything he says the Trumpflakes are going to be " see see see, hes (insert negativity here)"

That's interesting. I am not saying you are wrong. I'm not saying you are right.
It just blows my mind that when blacks like LeBron achieve certain things, they get labeled as "manipulative" and "self serving," while whites who do similar things are labeled as "industrious" and "ambitious."

I think you are correct, I guess I just have trouble wrapping my head around that type of attitude. Because me personally, if I dont like someone or what someone did, it has zero to do with their race.
But on the flip side, I will say that in knowing that about myself, it really irks me if I say something negative about a black person, that i have been accused of only saying that because they are black, which is a silly cop out excuse to justify what they did.

I take pride in being fair. I support blacks and other minorities when they are unfairly treated.
I do not support blacks and other minorities when they are wrong.
I despise whites who are prejudiced against minorities.
I despise when minorities are prejudiced against whites.
In LeBron's case............I have to separate the BB player from the citizen. I think he is doing great things. White mainstream can complain about dudes kneeling. They can complain about the legal issues many of these guys face. Etc, etc...
But man, when you dog LeBron on social issues......you are truly exposing yourself as a racist. That's what I love about LeBron. He does it the right way. He gives people no ammunition on social issues.
it really irks me if I say something negative about a black person, that i have been accused of only saying that because they are black, which is a silly cop out excuse to justify what they did.
What gets me, being a white guy that tries hard to be understanding of all the racial issues, I get super disgusted when other white people act like victims when being called out as racists when they are obvious racists that are either trying to conceal that fact, in some sort of self denial, too stupid to realize they are being racists or just plain clueless.
Then they retaliate with the victim card and want to make like I'm a race traitor without saying the words. All I have for them is this; man the hell up and own it, it's who you are. Don't like being that, then change.
Then you have the minorities you stick up for stink eying you too! Some are just as racists against whites, some don't trust you because you are white but bitch about racism , and some also think you are just a race traitor and won't say it.
All I have to say is this to them; for as long as their has been white injustices toward minorities in this country, there have been whites who stand up for what is right, think about that.

You sure like adding stuff people don't say. It's pretty disgusting.
I don't care if he is black or any other color. I don't normally think in terms of race or ethnicity because it doesn't matter much to me.
I think of him as egotistical and manipulative because he is. Granted he has plenty of good reason to have a huge ego but I just don't like people like that as a rule. I would say the same exact thing if he was white because behavior doesn't change because of your skin color. Your the one thinking that way and you should be ashamed of it.

We all have a right to voice an opinion. He certainly has a right to voice his the same as anyone else. He certainly could have turned out to be a bad person if he let himself but your right in that he took the high road and used his abilities the best he could to get the results he wanted. He is an extremely intelligent person and his business acumen is top notch. I like how he gives back to Akron and you can tell he loves his hometown.
I do think he has been swallowed up by the fame a bit though so I hope he finds ways to keep himself grounded. He is the very positive role model for a lot of youth that really need it so I hope his story continues to be a success. I may not like his personality but I don't wish him ill or anything like that. I actually hope he stays successful and keeps positive.

Lebron has done more for children than any of us will ever do combined.
Lebron has also done more for and against Cleveland than any of us will ever do combined.....
Honestly, I am not a fan of Athletes being held to high regard as role models, just for the fact that it is soooooooo little of a chance of a child ever becoming a pro athlete. You can idolize them, think they are superheros, but always thought it was kinda dumb to use them as a standard for children.
