Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert issued the following statement regarding Le'Veon Bell

We are disappointed Le’Veon Bell has not signed his franchise tender and rejoined his teammates. Coach Tomlin and the coaching staff will continue to focus on preparing the players on our roster for our regular season opener on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.

Hey, they can always trade him to us, if he doesn’t want to sign there and get paid.

We can pay him.

he'll be a Jet IMO

I don't think the Browns will be ready for this game. It just feels like they're still trying figure stuff out and they'll be trying to retool and adjust all the way through the game.

Even with a rusty Steeler squad, they're still far more a cohesive unit.

Expect a slow first half with some fireworks in the second.

I do think the Browns will take it to them though so it will be close.

so like 17-21 Steelers.

I like the under at 48. If anything we have a pretty stout D and I don't expect our O to be lighting things up.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Great.

Let's hope Bell stays home for the season. Or, like Mack moves to another team.

As much as I would like to have him. I would put little chance of the Steeler's trading him to us.

I doubt Haley with Bell in Cleveland would sit well with the Rooney family.

So let me get this straight ...

You’d be willing to give up the house to trade for Bell a RUNNING BACK but you wouldn’t have traded the house for AN EDGE RUSHER that is just as heralded at that as Bell is at being a RB ...

And Bell has been suspended once ...

Don’t add up to me dawg ...

Unless u think the asking price for Bell is gonna be MUCH LESS than it was for Mack ...

And bro ... u dont put your team in a bad place salary cap wise for a RB ... u do that for QB’s/Rush DE’s and maybe LT’s and shut down corners ...

Those 4 spots don’t grow on trees and the way the league has evolved ... IMO there the 4 most important positions ...

With that said ....

WOOOOOHOOOOOOO

The real celebration will come IF he don’t report by Thursday and is declared INACTIVE ...

How in the world did you infer that from what I said?

Basically I am just glad he is not currently with the Steelers.

Is Bell a good player? Well yes. Look how much a part of the Steeler offense he was.

Who would I rather have between Bell and Mack?
Mack.

What would I give up for Bell?

Chubb a one and 2020 third.

D. Don't go nuts on me.

I am just glad we hopefully wont face him.

Would the Steeler's trade Bell to us? I highly doubt that.

Bell's me first antics got old last year. As a Steeler fan I would be all over it if someone offered me a 1st Rounder for him today. There is a 100% chance he's gone after the season anyway. Not to mention he won't be in football shape and will below average until week 4 or 5 again. He's become a bigger headache than he's worth. Type of guy who will never be happy no matter where he's at. He could get the biggest contract in history and still hold out for more money 2 years into his blokbuster deal.

If I were the steelers I'd take a 3rd round pick for him right now ... he's done in Pitt in a matter of months (if not now)

He is the epitome of a prima donna. Skipping TC two years in a row. I agree, not matter what he will never be happy. Once he signs a big contract, that opens the door for the next guy to want more. What sucks, is Connor is putting in the work, and Tomlin will hand the job back to Bell whether he is in shape or not. He is a great player, but the line needs to be drawn somewhere.

If I were the coach, no matter how good he is, I would bench him until he gets in top shape.

I’d trust Pouncey ... sure Bell told him that ...

Hopefully he reports late in the day and misses practice .. although he prolly wont be able to practice until he clears his physical ... maybe they dont need one now? ..

Wednesday’s better than Monday but not as good as Friday ... *L* ...

Steelers LT Al Villanueva w/ my fave line of the day: “I’m not worried about Le’Veon. I have enough to worry about w/ the #Browns’ no. 95. Have you seen the Browns’ no. 95?!”

Yes, I have seen Myles Garrett. And yes, I expect most every LT who sees him will worry about him.

So, just for the sake of conversation. If the Steelers wanted to move Bell for that hypothetical 3rd or even first round pick you guys slamming him would not want the Browns to explore that deal?

Oh I'd want us to, but I doubt they'd send him to us for the same price

Is this a trap question? I have never heard it said before. Maybe about a psycho-monster like Lyle Alzado or something like that.

Absolutely delighted to learn this.

If I'm Tomlin I would give Conner 60%-70% of the caries for the first 2 or 3 games and work Bell in a little at a time. He was horrible last year for the first month because of rust. And Conner has earned it. Battled his way back from cancer when he was at Univ of Pitt and has been working his butt off for two years. He's looked good.

Nope.

Dude already told Pittsburgh to eat spit on 14m a year.

NO flipping way we're paying ANY RB like that. And a previously suspended one at that.

We need to be prudent with this. We started from scratch 2 years ago. Collins will be GONE SOON. Other than Landry we have nothing BIG $ right now but it's COMING.

STARTING WITH GARRETT.

Thank you.

$103 million guaranteed over 4 years. That's just under $26 million per year.

https://www.wral.com/nc-s-average-teacher-makes-51-214-how-many-teachers-make-that-/17542690/

I can't find how many teachers are in N.C. But, $26,000,000.00 divided by the average NC teacher income of $51,000 - well, that comes out to 510 teachers in the state.

I'm guessing there are more than 510 teachers in the state. I'm also guessing whoever wrote that was taking Rodgers 4 year total, and attempting to break it down yearly?

Even at that, 106 million divided by the avg. of $51,000 in salary for teachers comes out to 2079 teachers in the state of N. Carolina.

Hopefully we can win without him. Conner has had a very good training camp. Most Steelers fans are tired of this prima donna. Unfortunately I don't think the Steelers have a chance to win the Superbowl without Le'Veon.
