My son is a huge Steeler fan and he is to the point of saying "See ya." I think some Steeler fans are getting sick of the drama each year.

I'm sure Bell has plenty of supporters, but others might regard the situation as similar to how some Brown's fans are sick of the Josh Gordon drama and uncertainty. It's like.......get on the field or get out!

Connor is looking like a different back this year. For those of you who don't know, he was the RB from Pitt [college] who was a top-flight back, suffered an injury [knee???] and they discovered he had Hodgkin's.

He beat the disease and came back to play. He wasn't the same James Connor, but still pretty good. Steelers drafted him, but he looked kinda slow last year in preseason.

This year, he looks like a different back. The explosion is back. The quickness is back. The long runs are back. It's a good story and a lot of Steeler fans are rooting for him.

Conner's story is very inspirational. You are right Versatile Dog, he has had an excellent pre-season

This is all true...I saw a lot of his highlights this preseason and his speed and sharp cuts are most def. improved to where last year he would probably even loose a foot race to Stephen Ridley. He looks to be on par for a heavy load if Bell isn't in the best shape.

It seemed like Connor was at Pitt forever, runs in the pipe line as they had great backs before him in Shady McCoy and Dion Lewis...I expect him to fair well when given the chance this year.

Shows what we as a society value.
We value our children's futures. We just value our entertainment more.

In Ed Modzeleski's day, the NFL was a part-time job and teachers were middle class citizens.

Very true. Lou Groza sold my grand parents their home insurance plan. But maybe if he had more time to practice football, he would've realized that kicking with the side of your foot is much more beneficial than kicking with your toe.

I guess I’m missing what nfl players get paid have to do with teachers salaries.

That’s like two accountants (both CPAs) talking about their salaries, and then some McDonald’s employees come in going “what are y’all complaining about? Y’all still make more than whatever I make”

Y’all comparing private industries to a salary the government ultimately controls.

i know what its about. i dunno why its relevant. take that to EE or PP.

government doesn't control what NFL players make, the free market does. but they do have control over what teachers make.

Well they do work for the government, and many instances are paid with tax dollars. Athletes who make millions pay lots of taxes. So in reality, if athletes didn't make so much money and pay so many taxes, teaches would probably get paid less.

Steelers have a team meeting at 9am. One of Le’Veon Bell’s teammates just messaged me: no sign of him yet.

As long as it is not for a lot. Unlike any other position its a proven in the NFL that RBs get worn down which Bell has already shown signs of being hit a lot in his career.

I like Duke and possibly Halloway getting the ball in space. Weather its from Duke motioning out to the slot or Calloway getting the ball on a Jett sweep!

Man I've never been this nervous before a start of a season. I'm so excited and I'm actually afraid to be this excited!

Hopefully we get a
It TWUE its TWUE moment!

From a strictly business perspective Le'Veon Bell smart to show up Friday or Saturday so he still gets his $855K but Steelers don't play him Sunday.

20-25 less touches and one less game of injury risk but still gets his $.

James Connor has looked very good in the preseason but if the Steelers think he is Le'Veon they are incorrect.

Really hope he sits week 1.

Le'Veon Bell - RB - Steelers

Holdout Le'Veon Bell remained away from the Steelers for the start of 9 AM meetings Wednesday.

It's not a good sign for Bell's playing status for Week 1 against the Browns. It's tough to envision coach Mike Tomlin throwing Bell out there if he misses part of the practice week, which starts today, especially after being away from the team all summer. James Conner is looking like he'll get the nod right now. Bell has until Saturday afternoon to report in order to get paid for Week 1.

The talking heads in Pittsburgh are losing their minds over bell.

I love it. They talk about how "evil greedy owners" are all the time, then once Bell sticks it to the team trying to get his, now hes the bad guy. lol

Le'Veon Bell - RB - Steelers

Steelers LG Ramon Foster and C Maurkice Pouncey expressed frustration with Le'Veon Bell continuing his holdout on Wednesday.

"What do you do? Here’s a guy who doesn’t give a damn, so I guess we’ll treat it as such. I just hate it came to this," Foster said. "He’s making seven times what I make, twice as much as [LT] Al [Villanueva] is making and we’re the guys who do it for him." Pouncey added, "The business part...I get it. But not if it's game day. We have a game this Sunday, we're all the way into the game plan and you're still not here?" Players typically side with players on money, but not when it's costing the team potential wins with Bell not showing up. This is getting ugly for Bell.

Also just got an e-mail ... will share that in a sec ...

He’ll show up by Saturday ... the day he has to report to get his Sunday game check by ...

But if he don’t ... oh vay ...

Wish we played them again in week 2 .. *LOL* ..

Here's the full article from From Steelers Depot: https://steelersdepot.com/2018/09/bells-...ber_id=86338250

"Nobody should expect Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell to show up anytime soon judging by hints dropped Wednesday on SiriusXM NFL Radio by his agent Adisa Bakari.

Bakari was asked Wednesday what the current game plan is moving forward for his client and he would only answer that by asking a question of his own.

“I’ll answer that question with a question, because you know obviously I’m not going to discuss our plan publicly, but I’ll answer the question, or attempt to with a question. You’re Kevin Colbert, you’re Mike Tomlin, and you possibly have a once in a generation player for one more season, what would your plan be?” he asked.

When show co-host Brady Quinn responded that Bell would likely be used very heavily and then again asked Bakari to reveal his plan moving forward, the agent responded.

“You know, you can read in between those lines,” he said.

Bakari was then asked if this means that Bell will sit out the entire season, or just up until Week 10.

“When we find out,” Bakari said. “I think Mike Tomlin said it best yesterday, he’ll get there when he’s there and we’ll address those issues when he arrives.”

When reminded later during the interview that he had said in mid July that Bell would likely be present for Week 1 unless something exceptional occurs, Bakari punted, so to speak.

“Well, there you go. We had something exceptional to occur,” he said.

Bell is 100% in the wrong in this situation. Not only are fans fed up with him but some of his teammates are getting fed up as well. He went on record 2 years ago when he was about to hit free agency that he planned to sign a contract that would "revolutionize the market for Running Backs" in the future. His plan all along was to hold the team hostage with ridiculous over the moon demands. I knew then that he would be a giant pain in the butt. If I'm Pittsburgh there is no way in the world I give this guy a long term contract, regardless of his talent level. As I said before he's the guy who will set a record setting deal, play for one or two years under it and then hold out for more money again. Good luck to whoever ends up with him and his antics.

My understanding is that he either signs the Tag or he doesn't play.

There NO negotiations for a long term contract now.

So if he's not in and signed that Franchise Tag by Saturday, he looses $888,000 per game missed.

And didn't he flip the finger at a multi year $14M a year offer with a ton guaranteed?

This Kat and his Agent are on CRACK.

DUDE. You're a RB.

And the Rams made a HUGE mistake with Gurleys contract. Another RB. One of the LOWEST positions on the pole. Then comes Donald. An INTERIOR DL. Another low pole position.

They haven't even TOUCHED GOFF YET. The MOST important position. Whose their LT? DE? #1 CB?

Hell #1 WR?

Rams have a 2 year window.

Bell can EAT SPIT. NO WAY do we go after him in FA next year.

So he wants to be one of the highest paid players in the NFL, but doesn't want to risk getting hurt by playing?

Yeah .... let the wallets open and lines form everywhere for his services. crazy

Earl Thomas is lucky Bell is such a pinhead, because otherwise his "disrespect has been well noted and will not be forgotten." garbage about the Hawks expecting him to play for the contract amount he agreed to might be the headline. Bear in mind that he is in the 4th year of a 4 year/$40 million deal. Oh I wish someone would disrespect me like that! crazy

There is so much wrong with this comment.

1. Bell knows the Steelers are going to run him into the ground this season because they have no long term commitment to him.

2. NFL owners don't fulfill contracts all the time.

3. You are not in the top 1% of people with your abilities.
