Nike Campaign: Just Blew It! While the NFL issued a gentle statement, some league office staffers have expressed annoyance that a corporate partner would throw the national anthem controversy back into the news cycle only four days before the season's start. The Daily Caller reported that President Trump said in an interview Tuesday, “I think it’s a terrible message.” However, the president continued, “It is what this country is all about, that you have certain freedoms to do things that other people think you shouldn’t do, but I personally am on a different side of it.” http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/201...to-outrage.html

I think it is really cool to honor a guy who thinks Fidel Castro is more progressive than the leaders in our country. I think it's great that we pay tribute to a man who wears socks w/pictures of pigs dressed as cops.
I think it is awesome that we celebrate furthering the divide rather than trying to bridge the gap.
People complain about unfairness, bias, stereotyping, etc all the time. They then immediately turn around practice the same ugly tactics that they say they are subjected to.
You are no better than those you hate.
Bias is bias. Discrimination is discrimination. Hate is hate.
You reap what you sow.

….expressed annoyance that a corporate partner would throw the national anthem controversy back into the news cycle only four days before the season's start.... Now that's an interesting angle I hadn't considered. My initial opinion on the ads hasn't changed, and I don't think Nike set out to troll the NFL - but man that's a funny way to think of it.

My take is far from worthless.
There are a lot of whites on this board that support minorities. We chastise those who come across as racist against minorities.
And what do you and a couple of others do? You lump all whites together and assign discriminatory labels on whites.
That attitude sucks and only makes matters worse. It's no better than those who discriminate against blacks. Just because you have faced discrimination doesn't give you free reign to practice the same hateful BS.
And I wish I could use the language I would if they didn't have all these PG rules in place.
I find it infuriating that some of us stick our necks out to support you guys and then you turn around and urinate on our shoes.
Now, come back w/one of your dumb ass generic comments.

I'm sorry, but I don't lump people together. Look at the stupid graphic that Swish posted. All of those were meant to mock white people. How would you feel if some racist posted something similar of dumb stereotypes of black people? I won't even name what would be on there because I won't go that low.
Why is it okay for some to get away w/stereotyping and others can't?
And one more thing. You mentioned our country reaping what they have sown is about past sins. I did not commit any of those sins. A lot of whites haven't committed those sins. Why should we be punished or humiliated for the sins of others simply because we are of the same race?
Come on, man. Racial profiling, stereotyping, and labeling is wrong no matter which group is doing it.
I started a thread awhile ago and asked a bunch of questions. One of them is if there are racists in each group? Another was if there were good people in each group? Almost everyone who replied agreed w/both. Yet, in practice, I ain't seeing it.

Your take is worthless to me.
I really don’t care about your comments here. It won’t change my support of Kaepernick no matter how much you whine. The guy has done what he felt was right and brought a noble cause. All the minor crap like the socks is exactly that - minor.
You can use whatever language you want. It makes no difference to me because your opinion on this makes no difference to me.

And I don't care if you think my comments are worthless.
I'm still going to call you out when you unfairly profile others because of race.
I take grief from guys like rocky, Vambo, 40, etc when I call them out for making racially insensitive remarks and/or profiling and I'm willing to take grief from guys like you who are doing the same damn thing....just from an opposite perspective.
Don't freaking profile me and expect to me to cower.

cower? we're making up narratives now?
here's the only narrative i care about: i dont give two flying craps what you think about what, when, and how i post.
my support/unsupport is nowhere based on what vers thinks about my posting style.
to call me out would be to imply i care about your opinion in the first place. please dont act like you're somehow more important than you actually are.
and if you have a problem with what i post, be like BpG and put me on ignore. im still waiting on you to actually stick to that, btw. yet here you are, still running your mouth and instead of placing me on ignore like you constantly claim you're gonna do.

I'm not going to put your ass on ignore. And I could care less if you like it or not, but when you run around here and start stereotyping races, I'm gonna call you out! And I could care less if you like it or not.
You are no better than the racists on the other side.
Don't freaking knock "all whites" w/your dumb ass stereotypes and expect me to ignore it. You wanna dance, son? We'll dance!

I hope you get/got some eagle claw shoes Vers! You need that to stay perched on your fence.
The more time goes by and I see your posts and beliefs, the more I think you might be a republican trumper in denial. You calling me Vambo is laughable, especially when you are a guy that seems to stand for nothing, you just want to go along to get along... I can think of a bunch of words to describe that but I like you too much to use them.
Disappointed.

You can spin all you want, but the fact of the matter is that Cuban Americans totally disagree w/Kae;'s position. Fidel was far more oppressive against his people than our government was and that is why they tried to escape in masses from his country.
I think that the cause is good. I think LeBron is handling it correctly. I also think that Colin was persuaded by his girlfriend to speak out and that he is an ignorant person. I think that black activists realized the opportunity he presented and championed him. I thought this was a good move because it is a subject that needs addressed.
The problem comes with Kaep being racist and ignorant himself. He is as poor of a spokesperson as one could find.
Y'all ignore LeBron and champion Kaep. That's revealing.
Btw............you probably have never even met a Cuban. LOL #Sheltered

I think what Kaep's done takes a ton of stones. I respect him for making a decision that not many people would be comfortable making. He's not physically hurting anyone in kneeling during the anthem. The protest is supposed to make people feel uncomfortable. It's supposed to bring Versatile Dog to the table not liking it, and it's supposed to bring other people to the table liking it. The purpose of a protest is to get the point across, and then hope some action comes of the protest. The other things he's done? It's cool you feel the way you do. It's also cool that other people feel different. Kaep's willing to do what LeBron won't do. LeBron is more in the background and finds other avenues, but you don't see LeBron going off and saying Kaep is dumb. LeBron actually supports Kaepernick's ways of doing. LeBron in 2016 about Kaep.

Okay, we disagree. At least you aren't insulting about it.
I think Kaep is a mental midget. I think his girlfriend made his decisions for him. I think his socks were a sign of how ignorant and hateful he is. I think his support of Fidel Castro is another example of how ignorant he is.
I actually agree w/the cause of supporting minorities and fighting against prejudice. I simply think that Keap is an awful face for the movement.
But, I digress. My main point was that I am sick and tired of some of the posters on here who continually complain about how they are stereotyped by whites and then turn around and stereotype whites.
I'm sick of it. The stuff works both ways.

They have a consumer base that they seem to be targeting well. Anybody who thinks it's a good idea to pay $200 to get swoosh marks on their shoes probably supports Kaepernick to begin with. Just do it. and now we see the real reason Kap is out of the NFL It's his chicken legs folks. I see more meat on the legs at KFC than I do on his sticks.

What's a pair of Nike's cost today?..
I happened to catch Trevor Noah on Comedy Central last night.. Generally don't watch anything but his clips on Facebook..
Got a kick out of him however when he said of those burning shoes "I wonder if they realize, Nike already has their money?" LOL
He also had a picture of a guy holding a toaster saying "I want to buy this toaster but I'm not sure of it's stance on Abortion." LoL Cracked me up.

And Cuban-Cubans desperately agree with Kaep and his support for Fidel. I'm not sure how you think Fidel is far more oppressive than the Jim Crow South or the Vietnam war, but that's your hate and bias coming through. It's unfortunate. At one point, people could have a conversation with you, without you extolling bile. Things have changed since then.
It's unfortunate that the deaths of Tamir Rice, Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Mike Brown, Philando Castille and many more, made athletes like LeBron and Kaep have to talk out so those murdered can still have a voice, to still have a chance at justice, to stay alive in our memory. Trying to create infighting and decisiveness among a singular message. It's disgusting. Asking to them to tear down their fellow athletes and supporters is pure hate. Instead of focusing on the messenger, we should focus on the message.
There is a funny scene in the movie Amelie. A man stumbles down some steps and sees a statue. The statue is of a hero pointing towards the sky. The man is transfixed by this image and can't pull himself away from it. A boy walking by notices him and tells him "Only the fool looks at the statue and not what he's pointing at." Well, this is a good example of that scene happening in real life.

How much do the people that make these shoes get paid? Don't know if it's true or not, (cause ya can't find a consistent, current source) but it doesn't look like they're paying people what they could be considering how much they're paying these 'spokespersons' for 'sacrificing' so much.

I think both sides of this issue are being a little hypocritical.
First, Nike is a private business, they can choose any ad they wish to make. If you don't like it, don't wear or buy nike products.
Here is where the hypocrisy comes in on BOTH sides.
1. A lot of people on the right who are boycotting Nike, still support a church who systematically rapes children. They will boycott a company for an AD, but not one word of a boycott on the catholic church.....just saying.
2. A lot of people on the left (KAP included), started this entire thing over views that minorities are oppressed. So Kap is now taking millions from a company that oppresses minorities with slave labor, and markets 100 shoes to poor minority children.
Am I the only one seeing these two things?

Are you being serious? He was stereotyping whites in a negative manner. That is when I objected and one thing led to another.
This is my point. I am tired of you guys thinking it's okay, or even funny, to make fun of an entire group of people. I don't like when the other side does it to minorities and I don't like it when you guys do it whites.
And I could care less if you don't like that I challenge such narrow-minded and biased thinking.
